5 times in a 6 year career. That's just mindblowing. That's all-time legendary territory.

UD made this thread six years ago, almost to the day. Since then:
1x Rookie of the year
1x All-rookie first team
5x All-NBA first team
5x allstar
1x All-NBA second team
4x playoff appearances
2x WCF appearances
1x NBA scoring champion
Now we add:
Western Conference MVP
Finals appearance (first since 2011)
Kid came in as a baby/teenager and now he's here

The Athletic
@TheAthletic
?
Luka Dončić is the first player in NBA history with at least 150 REB, 150 AST and 50 3-PT FG in a single postseason.

And that's not even including his Euro career, which is historic. That's already a better resume than the vast majority of players in the Hall Of Fame. If Luka retired today, he'd not only be a Hall of Famer, he'd be first ballot.
The dude is 25 years old....

Seems like there's a real chance he could be looking at Finals MVP

The steals are what really jump out at you. I expect the offensive greatness, but in this playoffs, Luka has been very, very good defensively.

Not that you don't know this, but Luka has been good defensively all season. And he is done it with a myriad of team injuries.
He has stepped it up in the playoffs, but the people that don't watch the games keep sticking to him being bad defensively. Just isn't true anymore.

I think he's actually been pretty good for a couple of seasons now. But yeah he got the reputation early on of being a terrible defender and people just assumed that he still is. Dirk was the same way. Dirk for most of his career was no worse than average defensively and slightly above average for most of it. But you'd never know that if you talked to anyone who didn't watch him regularly.

He has a bad rep because of his body and nothing more. People call him "dough boy" and think he is simply incapable of doing it. Pretty silly stuff.

It didn't help that Dirk would put himself down all the time in regards to his defense.

this and his contemporaries at PF that he's compared to included very good defenders such as Duncan, Garnett, and Wallace.
In the same way Luka is compared to other "top young players" like Shai and Ant who have reputations for being solid to above average defenders. I'm glad that there are some numbers being brought up to help dispel some of these notions of Luka being a bad defender and even some hype videos and compilations of him playing solid defense.
Luka does get put a notch down for laziness/complaining leading to him not getting back on defense. Hopefully he matures past that as this playoffs have definitely shown him to be capable of better effort in that regards.

He?s clearly made an adjustment to how he deals with adversity from the refs or we are just seeing playoff Luka. Regardless it?s been a night and day difference since game 4 against OKC. I love playoff Luka. Our opponents? not so much.

Dunno how I missed this.
Luka playing a preseason game against the Thunder in 2016.

isn't it crazy that Mavs fans are hyped about the upcoming NBA FINALS match and in contrast, Hawks fans are discussing the merits of Sarr, Klingan, and Sheppard in terms of who to draft? There's discussion of trading Trae.
Cam Reddish? maybe played half the games this year and didn't sniff playing time at all in the short lived Lakers playoff run.
