TNT showed a play where Crawford took a spill. He went up to block a shot and did a flip and landed on his back/neck side. I don't think I've seen a more nasty landing. Scary as hell.

He was taken off on a stretcher for a precautionary check at the hospital.

Ouch, I was reading something on the boards, when I turned around I saw him taken out on the stretcher. Hope he's alright.

Crawford falls on head, taken off on stretcher

November 13, 2003

CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago Bulls guard Jamal Crawford landed on the back of his head and was taken off the floor on a stretcher Thursday night in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Crawford was moving after he fell, but Bulls trainers put a neck brace on him and taped him to a stretcher before taking him off the court. His teammates watched with concern, and fans gave him a standing ovation.

His condition was not immediately available.

Crawford was guarding former teammate Fred Hoiberg with about 10 minutes to play in the game when Hoiberg faked left and Crawford jumped. Crawford landed on Hoiberg's upper back and tumbled over backward. With his arms behind him, he had little to break his fall and landed on his head, just above his neck.

The crowd gasped, and Crawford immediately winced and began rolling around on the floor. He was still moving as trainers were attending to him, and was on the floor for about 10 minutes before being taken off the court.

This already has been a rough season for Crawford, a former lottery pick. Finally given the starting point guard job, he was benched along with Jalen Rose against New Orleans on Saturday by coach Bill Cartwright.

Crawford made it clear he wasn't happy about the demotion. And though Rose was back in the starting lineup Wednesday, Crawford was still coming off the bench.

Crawford is averaging 14.2 points, 4.7 assists and 1.2 steals a game.

I watched the game. it was ugly and the sound made me cringe. Reports are saying now he is ok. I doubt you see him play for another week or two though. Ouch!

That's why I cringed when I saw Jamison fall the other night.

Bulls' Crawford Suffers Sprained Neck

CHICAGO - Bulls guard Jamal Crawford was released from the hospital Friday with a sprained neck, a day after falling on his head during a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Tests at Rush University Medical Center revealed no further damage, Bulls spokesman Brandon Faber said. There's no timetable for his return and he will be evaluated daily, Faber added.

Bulls trainer Fred Tedeschi said Friday the guard was taking anti-inflammatory medication for the soreness.

"We'll probably know more tomorrow," Tedeschi said. "He's listed day to day until we get a better handle on it."

Tedeschi said doctors will review Crawford's test results.

"He's very lucky and we thank God he's fine and OK," Bulls coach Bill Cartwright said after Friday's practice. "When something like that happens, it puts everything into perspective."

Teammate Eddy Curry called it a frightening experience. He talked briefly with Crawford

"His whole career kind of flashed before his eyes. Anytime you take a fall like that, it's scary," Curry said. "He's doing good."

Crawford was guarding former teammate Fred Hoiberg with about 10 minutes to play Thursday night when Hoiberg faked left and Crawford jumped.

He and Hoiberg collided while Crawford was in the air, and he came down on Hoiberg's upper back. He tumbled backward and landed on the back of his head, just above his neck. His head snapped forward, his chin hitting his chest.

"It was just one of those fluke things," said Hoiberg, who visited the Bulls' locker room after the game.

Crawford winced and rolled over as the crowd gasped. But he was fully conscious and able to move and answer questions while he was tended to on the floor, Tedeschi said. As a precaution, Crawford was strapped to a stretcher and wheeled off the court.
