Default Rugby Union World Cup 2003- Down Under

I can't believe we haven't started a thread yet.

The English are looking good, having beaten South Africa 25-6 a few weeks ago, they survived a scare from Samoa, to win 36-22.

The most anticipated game of the preliminary rounds is on Saturday night. Australia v. Ireland in Melbourne. The winner will likely face either Scotland or Fiji in the semis, a much easier task than the loser- they will face France.

Guess it's just you and me, Oz.

Someone call William Wallace and tell him that the English need to be put back in their place.

Go Wallabies. Go All Blacks.

Have I mentioned I hate rugby?
I can't WAIT for the World Cup to be over.
Because of the stupid world cup, there is only one game from
the NBL (our basketball) a week.

I enjoy the Rugby more for the atmosphere around at the moment.

I don't know much about the game, but it is entertaining to watch. If I told you what I thought of the NBL after seeing the Pirates win their first game last week, you'd probably ban me.

Atmosphere? I've not noticed anything! I've been looking around the
city for it all the time, but i got the feeling it was just all media hype.

You went to the Pirates 1st win?? Wasn't it Newcastle??

No. I didn't see the Pirates win, but I can't believe they did. What has happened to the NBL. I watched a Giants/ Breakers game last week and was nearly motivated enough to put the shorts on and go down and play myself. Even I can hit 70% of my foul shots and 40% Field Goals is not as hard as the NBL makes it look.

For the rugby, all the pubs have been packed for every game, it has been crazy. Federation Square is full of fans watching it on the big screen. I guess Melbourne just gets caught up in these things.

While in a sports shop, the son picked up an England rugby shirt and said to his sister: "I've decided to be an England supporter and I would like this for Christmas."

His sister was outraged and promptly whacked him round the head, telling him to go talk to his mother. Off goes the little lad with the white rugby shirt in hand and finds his mother.

"Mum?"
"Yes son?"
"I've decided I'm going to be an England supporter and I would like this shirt for Christmas".

The mother is outraged and promtly whacks him around the head, saying: "Go talk to your father". Off he goes with the rugby shirt in hand and finds his father.

"Dad?"
"Yes son?"
"I've decided I'm going to be an England supporter and I would like this shirt for Christmas".

The father is outraged and promptly whacks his son around the head and says: "No son of mine is ever going to be seen in THAT!"

About half an hour later they're all back in the car, heading towards home. The father turns to his son and says: "Son, I hope you've learned something today."

The son says: "Yes dad I have."
"Good son, what is it?"

The son replies: "I've only been an England supporter for an hour and already I hate you Aussie bastards."

Edit: BTW, from BBC.
