Why would anybody do it? Who knows...
Why would Dallas do it? To increase the jelling process (subtracting 4 out of 5 recent additions), getting in a combo guard and a big body.

RE:Weird Al Seelowitch Useless Trade of the Night
Id do it. Jason Terry would give us a great backup instant offense aka nick van exel. And Big Z would complement Bradley.

RE: Weird Al Seelowitch Useless Trade of the Night
Well, the trade is useless simply because Cleveland won´t do it without Atlanta and maybe Dallas sweetening it with Draft picks.
From a Mavs point of view it looks pretty doable.
Z, Bradley, N´Diaye
Dirk, Crawford
Walker, Howard, TaW
Finley, Terry
Nash, Daniels, Stefansson
and you sign some blue collar CBA Forward for the hustle.
We´re going to play a 7-guy rotation, maybe 8, anyways, so it´s ...
Dirk, Walker, Finley, Nash, Z, Howard, Terry
with Bradley, Daniels, Crawdford in the backhand.
I consider this an upgrade over
Dirk, Walker, Finley, Nash, Jamison, Howard, Daniels/Best/Delk.

This is really a pretty good idea. I give you credit - this is pretty well thought-through. CLE doesn't get a ton in return but they do get to ship out Miles. I like it. You'd make a good GM.

Very impressive saleenjaeger. This really makes sense for all the teams involved; granted that the Mav's would have to sweeten the pot with some picks or cash to get this done..
You should e-mail this trade to Cuban...

RE: Weird Al Seelowitch Useless Trade of the Night
I would do this trade on the patent fact that we would now have an inside presence in big Z and a skilled two in Terry to come in off the bench with some energy

RE: Weird Al Seelowitch Useless Trade of the Night
Now here´s the trade for tonight ...
Dallas trades: SF Antawn Jamison (15.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.0 apg in 29.6 minutes)
PF Danny Fortson (3.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 0.2 apg in 11.6 minutes)
Dallas receives: C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.6 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.5 apg in 30.2 minutes)
PG Chucky Atkins (6.0 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.2 apg in 18.5 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +1.6 ppg, -3.1 rpg, and +2.5 apg.
Cleveland trades: C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.6 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.5 apg in 30.2 minutes)
SF Darius Miles (9.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 25.3 minutes)
Cleveland receives: PF Danny Fortson (3.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 0.2 apg in 26 games)
SF Corliss Williamson (8.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 32 games)
C Jahidi White (4.8 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 0.2 apg in 30 games)
Change in team outlook: -7.5 ppg, +0.8 rpg, and -2.8 apg.
Detroit trades: SF Corliss Williamson (8.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 0.8 apg in 19.0 minutes)
PG Chucky Atkins (6.0 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.2 apg in 18.5 minutes)
SG Bob Sura (2.9 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 1.7 apg in 12.5 minutes)
Detroit receives: SF Antawn Jamison (15.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.0 apg in 33 games)
SF Darius Miles (9.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 30 games)
Change in team outlook: +7.8 ppg, +5.5 rpg, and -1.2 apg.
Phoenix trades: C Jahidi White (4.8 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 0.2 apg in 15.7 minutes)
Phoenix receives: SG Bob Sura (2.9 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 1.7 apg in 32 games)
Change in team outlook: -1.9 ppg, -3.2 rpg, and +1.5 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
In addition, Phoenix and Detroit ship some picks to Dallas and Cleveland and Best might be traded if necessary aswell.
Why would ...
Phoenix clears another heavy contract off its books.
Cleveland gets frontcourt help in White and Fortson along with a rebounding SF in Williamson.
Detroit gets scoring help and ships out some guys not needed anymore (Atkins, Williamson).
Dallas gets Z, Atkins, a Pick which might be coveted or packed with either Delk and Najera into something worth a bit more or just used later while dropping Fortson.
This might be a downgrade trade on paper, but it adds some size and future versatility (dropping the Jamison and Fortson money while adding a tradeable asset (draft pick)).

RE:Weird Al Seelowitch Useless Trade of the Night
sj - I think I would do either trade at this point. Even if Z doesn't play much defense, he's better than Jamison. Rebounding shouldn't take much of a hit (if any) and everyone would be back to their natural positions.
But Z might be worth more than that since his contract expires at the end of next year.

I would pull the trigger on it in a heart beat SJ, although id rather not part with fortson and recieve yet another point guard in return.

RE: Weird Al Seelowitch Useless Trade of the Night
Z is NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT the guy the Mavs want or need.
The only thing he adds is "7-3." He does not play D. He is not athletic.
If you watch the guy play, you can time him getting up the floor with a sundial - he is slowwwwwwwwwww. Very very VERY immobile. He makes Shawn Bradley look like Bob Hayes by comparison.
He does score a few points cause he is big. He does get a few boards cause he is big. But he plays like his feet are nailed to the floor, so he cant help on defense, and he cant move to block shots.
Any trade for Z is of no use to the Mavs, cause it still doesnt help in any way on defense or shot blocking.

RE:Weird Al Seelowitch Useless Trade of the Night
To underscore what poindexter is trying to say:
If there was a match race between Z and Shawn...from Ft line to FT line...Shawn wins every time.
A Ratliff/Terry trade interests me to a small degree...but we don't have expiring contracts for that to really work...AND Atlanta can't do a Damn thing until the league approves the pending sale.
Get back to me when that happens...until then...let's take it easy...

I'm not interested unless it's Walker instead of Jamison that's we're giving up.
