Default Closing schedules

The NBA schedule makers did a pretty awesome job of scheduling down the stretch...especially in the Western Conference.
There are some really great matchups to finish the season starting with last night's Minny @Sacto game....tonight there is Memphis @Lakers, Portland @SA, and Denver@Houston...all of those games have playoff implications.
Then Sat you have Port@Den and Hous@Utah as these 4 teams fight it out for the last 2 spots.
Sun is the game for the Pacific crown as LA plays at Sac.
Mon we get Utah@Minny, Sac @ Den, and SA @Port.
Tues is Memphis@Dallas.
Then to finish the regular season Minny@Memphis, Den @SA, LA@Port, and Dallas@Hou.
To me thats a heck of a closing rush with every game counting as far as seeding plus which 2 of the 4 bottom teams make the cut.

Wouldn't it be great if all those game on the final day mean something? When is the last time that happened?

We can't beat the Lakers; especially on the road. We need to pray Kings become a 3rd seed, or we get to 5th!

The Mavs beat the Lakers on the road this year, but it isn't a great matchup for the Mavs unless the Lakers continue to struggle. Right now, with a Laker loss today to the Kings, it looks like the west will be:
1-Timberwolves v. 8. Denver/Utah
2. Kings v. 7. Houston
3. Spurs v. 6 Dallas
4 Lakers v. Memphis

I'm liking the Lakers v. Memphis match up and I also like Dallas' chances against Spurs...then 2nd round against Kings or Houston isn't bad either. Then the Timberwolves are 3-1 against the Lakers this year and I like the Mavs chances against the Timberwolves. Timberwolves are also 2-1 against Memphis so far.

Right know no one is a good match up on the road. We suck on the road. Sacramento, LA, San Antonio, Minnesota all those match ups present problems for the mavs. Three of the four teams are good defensive teams. We are horrid defensive team. Besides the goal shouldn't be to get out of the first round thats the goal of the T-Wolves the goal should be to win it all. And to do that you should want to play the best not hope that you don't have to play the Lakers. The two years they beat the Lakers they ended up winning the title.

If the mavs can lose to Seattle and GS on the road, then what more against LA, San Antonio, Minnesota & Sacramento.

It's not even about match-ups anymore, the mavs are their greatest enemy on the road it seems like.

Tuesday's winner likely gets 5th seed and the LA Lakers. Can you say hello LaLa Land?

"Tuesday's winner likely gets 5th seed and the LA Lakers. Can you say hello LaLa Land?"

After the Monday games, things are still completely up in the air, no matter whether the Mavs win or lose Tues.
Minn, SA, or LA could still finish 3rd. And Sac, SA, or LA could finish 4th.

True, however, more than likely LA will keep that 4th spot, and I'm curious as to whether Memphis is trying to avoid that 5th spot (or even the Mavs for that matter). Let's see in tonight's game.

The problem with intentionally losing to try to get the 6th spot is that it is far from guaranteed where LA will end up.

Sac is playing like dogs and finishes at GS. That is a Sac loss just waiting to happen. LA plays at home against the Clips, which should be a win. Then they play in Port in game 82 - which would be a real crapshoot to predict. But all they have to do is win 2 quite winnable games, while Sac loses in GS (where they lost earlier this year) and LA ends up #2.

On the one above, I will take bows for (for once!) nailing the ending scenario exactly on target.
