Default Suns sold to investor group that includes Barkely, Kerr and Sean Elliot.

According to Street and Smith's sports business publication...........

A group led by San Diego business exec Robert Sarver that includes former NBAers Steve Kerr, Charles Barkley and Sean Elliott has agreed to purchase the Suns for $401M, the highest sale price ever for an NBA franchise. Suns President & GM Bryan Colangelo as well as several other current Suns investors will maintain an interest in the team under the new partnership. Jerry Colangelo will sell his 18% stake for an estimated $36M, but remain Chair & CEO for at least three years. The deal now awaits league approval.

You kidding me.........

For one thing, Barkley never drove this team into the ground. In fact, his arrival in 1993 helped the Suns reach the Finals.

And BTW, that team isnt that far "in the ground" as you think.

With the young talent they have in Phoenix, the future is currently bright in Phoenix.

And with the cap room they have ready and waiting this offseason for free agents like Kobe Bryant, the future could be even brighter.

That's alot of money for an NBA franchise...

That is around twice what Cuban paid for the Mav's, but I bet their value has gone up as well...

I just will never agree with their trade with the Knicks..I know it was used to clear cap space, but I would have never traded Marbury away especially right now he seems to hitting his prime, and seems it seems that no matter what team he is playing for; he seems to make them better...

The future was bright just a YEAR ago when the Suns put a serious scare into the Spurs. Yet they reloaded anyway. There is no reason to assume that the Suns will get above the 40-45 win plateau in the foreseeable future. And there is no reason to assume that any free agent will go there, the situation sounds too much like the one in Chicago - a team that is always rebuilding. Kobe >might< go there but it is certainly not a slam dunk. Colangelo is still the Chair & CEO and he has never kept a player with a questionable background.

Barkley owns a piece of the Suns? Good, here's to hoping we kick their arses everytime we play them.

It won't shut him up, but it will be the next best thing to a Dirk/Fin/Nash tag team fight against Chuck.
