MELBOURNE, Australia (AFP) - Ferrari's six-times world champion Michael Schumacher roared to pole position for Sunday's Australian Formula One Grand Prix after qualifying in the fastest time here.

Schumacher trumped teammate Rubens Barrichello in a fastest flying lap time of one minute 24.408 seconds to take the inside of an all-Ferrari front row of Sunday's race grid.

"It has gone quite well for us," Schumacher said. "And honestly, we are not too surprised about it simply for the fact that Australia has always been very good for us.

Champs shows again, who's the man to beat!

Hopefully we will see some nice fights tomorrow at Melbourne.

Pedal to the metal, Schumi!

Seems that no one on this forum is interested in F1 racing. Can't blame you. It is boring at best. Unless it's raining, of course. Rain races are great. The American cart races are probably more fun too watch with more racers having a chance to win. But there are too many oval races IMO.

Schumi just won again. Good for the Ferraristi and the red caps. Bad for all the other race fans...

MALAYSIA GP

Same old story. Schumi at the front, the others suck while sucking. Congrats to Webber, the Aussie fans will be delirious if he wins the race.

If only the Mavs could be so successful as Ferrari...

Bunker Shot. OUCH!

Little Schumi is pushed out by his own teammate, Montoya, who is called "Rambotoya" in the German tabloids...

I know, Formula 1 is not a popular sport in the US but, wether you like him or not, Michael Schumacher continues to amaze.

After 7 races: Schumi - 6, Rest - 1

Michael Schumacher 10 of 11.

M. Schumacher 100p.
R. Barrichello 74p.
J. Button 53p.

And seven GP's to go.

thanks Estonian boy for reviving this thread that no one seems to care about. there aren't many racing fans here, not even IRL or Nascar. But I think the remarkably winning streak of M$ is reason enough to follow F1 every once in a while (that is every other weekend of course). Trulli's crash was ugly, but as long as no one get's hurt, crashes are an essential part of every good race.

I'm interested in F1, but not in schumi... Luckily Montoya kicked the sucker out once to stop his streak. There's just no other person that stupid imo.

For real motorsports watch out for the DTM

I wouldn't say I like Schumi, but it is hard to not acknowledge what he's achieved over the years. He is simply the best at what he does.

and Montoya is even less likable

I root for Takuma "Crash" Sato, he's always punishing his car till it breaks
