The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
If he would accept a backup role on this team as well as a minimum contract, he would be a great pickup for the team. He could have one last shot at a title. I think he would be the perfect backup to the Diggler. Who is with me!?

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
I say no.
Nellie would have him playing out of position to create mismatches.
He would be our starting center and back up 2 gaurd.

No. Just for his character, or lack thereof. Just say "no" to Malone!

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
I thought for sure he was going to return to LA or head to MIA. Why hasn't he made up his mind/signed with a team yet? I wouldn't mind more scoring and rebounding from the backup PF position behind Dirk.

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
There has to be a reason we're not aware of. Otherwise, he'd surely be on somebody's roster...Heck, the Kings were going to sign the Rangers number 5 starting pitcher...

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
i'm for it... paying mininmum for a former all star who despite his age is still better than henderson. is way better than paying mid-level for an unreliable oaf.
and besides he brings leadership and smarts.
also think of just how he compliments dampier downlow when nowitzki's taking a break.

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
Malone is much a better passer PF... even better than Dirk.
Malone is a decent defender even at age 40!
Malone brings toughness to the team which Mavs lacks.
Malone may not want to come here....

Sorry but I'd have to say a big No for this one. I just truly can't stand the guy.

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
Malone is just what the mavs need, if he knows he will be getting backup time at power forward and center.
He would be a great MOB player.
The reason people dislikes him is because he is not on this team. If he were playing for the mavs, everyone would love him.

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
I don't dislike Malone it's just a useless acquisition. He doesn't make us any better than we are right now and maybe we become even worse if it lowers the minutes that Henderson is getting. Henderson is fine at the power foward. He's a legit power foward with legit size. I don't want to see Nellie bring in a guy that forces him to go small because we all know Malone will play and play alot. I'm confident having Booth and Henderson back up Dirk. No, their not as good as Dirk but they are great role players who know their roles.

From what I understand he's healthy. He just hasn't decided to sign with anybody yet...just enjoying life.

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
From Sean Deveney:
Whither PF Karl Malone? Though sources indicate he is doing quite well in semiretirement--hunting and running his lumber business--few general managers really believe Malone will sit out the whole season. Utah has been mentioned as a possible return destination, and San Antonio and Minnesota have courted Malone, but he still remains more likely to return to the Lakers than to go elsewhere. He should make a decision by the middle of December. . . .

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
He should go back to Utah and backup Boozer. That will be a nice story especially if he actually wins a title with them.

RE: The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
DIRNO ... I have yet to see any report that says definitively that he is well. They always skirt the issue or just talk about how he "hasnt decided" etc. Your quote says he is "doing well" but doesnt addrsss his knee issues.
In reading between the lines, I dont think the guy is healthy enough to play a lick.

I haven't either...I was going by a thread on a Lakers message board. Apparently he was on a local tv station and proclaimed himself to be 100% healthy. The poster who started the thread is as reliable as you can expect an internet message board poster to be, so I don't doubt Malone said it. That doesn't necessarily mean it's true though.
He's another cryptic statment from his agent:
"He's physically there, or almost there," Manley told ESPN.com. "He's doing really well. It's just a question of when he wants to make a decision. He has some family plans through the holidays."

RE: The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
DIRNO ... I dont doubt the accuracy of those reporters. But, like you, I see that there is a real weasel factor under the surface. Malone says he's well, then his agent says "almost there" and so forth - it really seems like one big stall tactic, with Malone still being far less than healthy but unwilling to admit it. He has flaked on taking a physical for teams that want to perhaps sign him. Someone on another board said that he actually had MICROFRACTURE surgery, and has been trying to keep it unknown while he rehabs. With all the stalling, with dates for his return pushed farther and farther back, that makes a ton of sense - and it would be a huge reason to steer clear of him.

RE:The 'Get Malone to Dallas' thread
The only way I would want to sign Karl is if it kept San Antonio from singing him.
