RE: Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs Gameday thread
Expect a lot of small ball and zone tonight. I think Nellie will see how far the Mavs can go and keep it close. If the game gets of out hand, he will pull the starters and game will be over. One good thing about it is, DJ will be able to play some minutes tonight.

if we are going to play a dumb player, I'd rather it be a guy who's learning to play and who always looks motivated.

RE: Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs Gameday thread
Dump's averages in the two meetings against the Spurs this year: 3.5 points, 4.5 boards, 0.5 blocks, 4.0 fouls
Duncan's average in the two meetins against the Mavericks this year: 23.5 points, 13 boards, 3.5 blocks, 2.5 fouls
I'm thinking that "resting" Dump has more to do with his absolute ineptness against Duncan than it does his chronically injured, uninsured knees.
Thank God Avery Johnson isn't coaching this one.

Losing Damp doesn't bother me that much either. Losing Howard, on the other hand, bothers me a lot.
Also, Nellie need to give Devin Harris some PT tonight. We need some defense damnit!

RE: Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs Gameday thread
Duboverdose's Keys to the game:
-Get Duncan in foul trouble, early....very early
-Put Bradley on Rasho, I like that matchup
-Put Harris on Parker and Terry/Stackhouse/Finley on Ginobli
-Keep Bowen away from the pockets of the court
-Cross your fingers

RE: Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs Gameday thread
another couple
-play Bradley heavy minutes, punctuated with M'Benga and Booth.
-If we are blown out by the half, then we try to get something going, and if it doesnt by the 7 minute mark, we pull our starters and give guys like Booth, M'Benga and Harris extra minutes.

All we need is for Dirk to hit some shots and tell Stackhouse to never leave Ginobli again.

Tolbert is a freaking moron about our defense, but he's right that we have better options than Stack taking Bowen off the dribble.

wow, another game where Nowitzki get's cut up by the refs. He get's clobbered by two guys but Horry was outside the circle, so Nowitzki gets the offensive foul.

Not bad: no Damp, no Josh, no points for Dirk, and we're within two.

good optimism. Fact is that its the same thing we saw from Dallas in the first half of the Houston game. We kinda scored, but we really have nothing going as far as rhythm. We find a rhythm or we lose. Period.

Reffing is f@cked up pretty bad.
Udrih slaps Nowitzki across the wrist while Dirk is shooting and gets the block. Bowen undercuts Finley and no call....wow

This game might be slipping away. Mavs need a big stop an big hoop. I liked how Booth was playing Duncan. Nellie should have left him in.

Too bad it looks like Finley has cooled off after starting 4-4. Good thing Stackhouse has it going now but we need to get more from Dirk.

Booth always seems like a good match. Duncan scored on him but Booth has the agility and height to give duncan some problems. Henderson is awesome but he has no chance when Duncan just goes over him.

RE:Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs Gameday thread
Fantastic shot by Dirk to end the half. Nice to see him aggressive and alive on the offensive end when it looked early on like he might sit this one out mentally.
Kudos to Nellie for drawing that up at the end of the half. We always give him a hard time about his end of game/quarter plays that go awry, so credit must be given here. That was a great look to end the half considering the fact that they had to go the length of the court.
The refs are pretty bad tonight (the charge against Dirk for his 2nd foul, the foul by Bowen on Finley when Finley went up in the air, that last call against Bradley near the end of the half), but the Mavs WILL overcome that.
LET'S GO MAVS!!!
