$3,000.00(US)... 5days/4nights... where should I go for my Honeymoon?
I've been seriously considering the Mexican Riviera... Puerto Vallarta in particular. I really want to just sit on the beach with a corona, but the wife will want to be more adventurous. Based on what I've read I'm definitely leaning towards PV over Acapulco, Mazatlan and Cabo.
Priorities (in order of importance) for Me:
1)Nice Beaches 2)Fun sight-seeing i.e. missions, wildlife, sealife, geography 3)Personal Serivice i.e. hotel, spa 4)Good restaurants/clubs
Priorities for her:
1)Shopping 2) Personal Service i.e. spa treatments, hotel service 3)Good Restaurants/clubs 4)Recreation i.e. sight-seeing, beaches, wildlife
If we go to mexico I've promised her a day at the spa (massage to the sounds of the ocean) horseback riding on the beach (preferrably at sunset) and a day cruise (partyboat/whalewatching/sportfishing)... and shopping of course.
OPTION 2 - Manhattan
She's never been and I already know she'd love every minute of the BIG CITY experience (other than the general rudeness and muggy july weather). This is not my favorite idea because my money will go farther south of the border... and I want to sit on the beach with a in my hand.
My rough plans consist of museums during the day and shows at night. We'd avoid the overtly touristy things and concentrate on the arts... and shopping of course. A trip to NYC could help us decide if she would ever work/live there (her degree required internship is fast approaching).
OPTION 3 - Caribbean or Victoria BC... neither of these are well developed ideas.
Help me! I gotta get on the ball... ADVICE? THOUGHTS? PERSONAL TESTIMONIALS?

RE: $3,000.00(US)... 5days/4nights... where should I go for my Honeymoon?
I went to PV when I was about 12. Obviously, I don't remember much because that was 12 years ago. Anyway, the best part of the whole trip was this day trip we went to. It involved boating to this secluded area. When we got there we had to hick up this jungle type path for about a mile. Once you get to the top there's this incredible swimming hole/waterfall. I loved it.
Also, from what I remember the beaches were nice, but the water wasn't. I know this isn't very helpful, but it's all I have .
Congratulations, by the way.

My wife and I went to Jamaica. It was a blast.
If you do go, make sure you go to one of the "all-inclusive" places because that shelters you from the locals trying to sell you ganja 24x7.

Iceland! but i'm afraid we don't have any good beaches. Italy and the southern France are also pretty cool...

RE: $3,000.00(US)... 5days/4nights... where should I go for my Honeymoon?
Was watching Globe Trekker one night and the lady on there took a trip to the Galapagos for $400 + like 100 per day. She went from one of the northen south america countries not sure which. I can't think of any other place I'd rather go, even if you have to sleep on a boat.
Hm may not be the best place for a 'Honeymoon' though now that I think about it. oh well too late can't erase the post hehe

RE: $3,000.00(US)... 5days/4nights... where should I go for my Honeymoon?
u2: I do think an "all-inclusive" place could be the way to go. The drawback of course would be getting locked in to a resort with subpar food and watered-down drinks... so I must choose wisely. And did all the locals try to sell you weed? Really?
Sexy: that place seems pricey allbeit very posh. Since we are trying to stay within budget (which is more than I can say for the wedding reception) I gotta pass. Even when I tried to shorten the trip I was still way over my limit.
I do think I'm getting closer to a decision. Please keep the suggestions coming people!

RE: $3,000.00(US)... 5days/4nights... where should I go for my Honeymoon?
Yes, everywhere outside the resort I would go I was offered Jamaica's finest. But don't let that be a detractor. The place we stayed we didn't eat much at the resort (although when we did it was really good food), and the drinks were mostly Beer, which it being in a bottle would have been hard to "water" down. There are lots of things to do in Jamaica that are well worth the trip... like hiking the "mountains" (or riding Horseback)..... really beautiful Country.

RE:$3,000.00(US)... 5days/4nights... where should I go for my Honeymoon?
My aunt & uncle have been to Paradise Island, stayed at the Atlantis, and really loved it. They've stayed in some of the finest resorts on the planet, so it had a high standard to meet. I think the coolest thing about Atlantis is the mat slides you can ride down the side of an Aztec (?) temple (it's a cool replica), and into a pool of sharks. The slide turns into a large, clear tube when you hit the shark pool, so you get the experience of swimming with sharks without the risks.
My co-worker goes to Jamaica all of the time, and she loves it like crazy!
You can't lose with so many fabulous options! Have fun!
Edit: to indicate not certain what kind of temples they have on Paradise island.

We went to Jamaica too. I agree. All-inclusive is the way to go. Just allow a little money for the side trips. We went on a "booze cruise" for about $60 and and took a bus to the falls for about $20. You can have a blast without too much extra. If you both drink it's well worth it.

Hey peeps...
For all those single people out there - getting hitched is where it's at. I highly recommend it. There is gifts ($! and cuisinarts!) and cake (with chambord icing) and dancing (aka ass-shaking with the mother-in-law)... and, of course, the honeymoon.
And the bonus when all the wedding hoopla is over you get to spend the rest of your life with your bestfriend.
Capitalcity is consumed by the post-nuptial bliss. Does this 'married' thing get old?
Somebody learn me how to post pictures...

Without the spaces before the i and after the g put the following: [ img ] then put the URL of the picture. Like http://dallas-mavs.com/forums/i/icon...ar_privmsg.gif then right after the last character of the URL put the following without the space before the / and no space after the g: [ /img ]
Put all of the above together and you will get the image of the Private Message icon, ala .

RE:$3,000.00(US)... 5days/4nights... where should I go for my Honeymoon?
$2,000.00 for 6days/5nights... gracias funjet vacations.
Everything was picture perfect. The scenery was stunning and the weather was (mostly) cooperative. We went all-inclusive and it was worth it. The hotel food wasn't spectacular, but the endless flow of drinks more than made up for it. We didn't eat lunch or dinner at the hotel save a couple times cause we were out on day excursions (vallarta-adventures.com) or exploring downtown during the evening hours.
Local food selection was terrific - we didn't miss once when we were paying to eat (which is rare for us). We were catered to the whole week - from the airport, to the taxis, to the tour-guides, to the bellhops, to the waiters - the service was quick, friendly, and reliable.
Peso for peso my Puerto Vallarta experience ranks way ahead of previous yucatan vacations. Not just because it was my honeymoon, but because PV gives you a taste of mexico you can't get from a 'from scratch' resort destination.
We'll definitely head back to pacific mexico the first chance we get. We've been talking through our plans already. Next time we are 1. going in early spring (whale watching season), and 2. scheduling a canopy tour with vallart adventures (only one outside of belize).

I remembered this thread so I thought I would add to it rather than start a new thread. The wife and I are looking to take our first vacation together after having the little one. We have been looking into the all-inclusive Puerto Vallarta vacations but I wanted to ask all of you for input. Any other ideas???
We have $3k ourselves but are willing to spend up to $4k for the entire package, (tours while at the vacation spot, food, special trips, shopping, etc...). We are considering vacation destinations all across the world so any feedback that you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Basically we are looking for BEAUTIFUL scenery, preferably with mountains and beaches, (i.e. Puerto Vallarta/Hawaii type scenery), but we are also willing to consider places without beaches if the scenery makes up for it. I guess I just need to know what vacation spots to look into if this is going to be our last two-some vacation. From here on out, it will be family vacations so we just want something both romantic and fun.
Please help and thanks in advance!

Speaking of PV, do yall want to be close to the city center? There are hotels that ring the entire bay with the focus of new resort construction to the north (Nuevo Vallarta).
I looked at Four Seasons Punta Mita but it wasn't for us at the time. The mrs wanted to shop and see the cathedral and & stuff so we stayed in the Marina district ($5.00 cab ride).
San Francisco beach on the north coast is probably the sickest beach I've ever been to.

The Punta Mita looks very nice, but also would be very expensive. We were considering the Vallarta Palace, an all inclusive hotel with an ocean view w/balcony and several events, (sailing, horseback riding, ecotour, dolpin swim, and a couple of excursions to different islands to snorkel), for roughly $3800. Any idea if this sounds pretty fair during mid July for 6 nights - someone on here said they were a travel agent?
Thanks again for the help in advance.

If I was going to shell out that kind of dough, Dan, I'd go someplace other than Mexico. Screw it man, go to Greece or Spain or some place across the pond. That's what I'd do, but I'm obsessed with my quest to hit up Europe.

I was really impressed with Vallarta Adventures.
I know that all inclusive (meals & drink) can be good and bad, so I'd figure there could be a downside to booking the daytrips and recreational stuff through the hotel. But sometimes it's nice to have the decisions made for you and just run the CC once, and if you have to book separately you'd probably need to get transportation to the VA dolphin tank or Marina for the day cruise - so take that for what it's worth.
All I know is the Safari Tour was badass. Ate Mango off the tree, learned how to make cornmeal for tortillas from some lady without shoes and teeth, saw wild monkeys and black iguanas, watched our tour guide play with a scorpion, got a kickass barbeque meal with seconds & thirds. Ended the tour on aforementioned San Francisco beach... - that said, you could get a crappier tour guide or the monkeys wont be out that day or the barbeque may be cold.
What I do know is VA seems to cater to US tourists. The Las Caletas day cruise was worth it too, sprung for the 1 hour massage and snorkled with the wife. Again they fed us kick ass like.
Unlimited beverages on both tours.
PM me.

Now see, that is the kinda shit I am talking about...
And Ark, I appreciate that and we are both very interested in Europe, but I guess I am looking for actual experiences that can be offered to help sway me here or there.
Thanks in advance.

I second that. Whenever you have enough money to get yourself to Europe, do it. Be sure to set money aside for tours if you do go to Europe though- there's so much to see.

Oh, if anyone goes to Italy, they MUST go to Capri, its an island off of Naples. You take a chair lift to the top of the island and it is one of the most amazing things you will ever do.
