Default Griff?

Adrian Griffin is a free agent.. right? So will the mavs give him a new 1 year deal or let him float around in free agency? He was the Bruce Bowen of the Mavs - the 3 point shot. We need his defensive game to help us win games. He can also rebound on the offensive like a mad man.

Griff is great....but he is no one's Bowen.

Not sure I would call him a rebounding madman, but I'd sign him again for a year...maybe two. No idea if Avery agrees though.

I think they don't make a decision on him until late in the off season and maybe even training camp.

If we sign Mike James, we'll have plenty of SG's. If we don't, bring Griff back.

I say we got enough swingmen that we don't need Griffin. Ager, Daniels, Stackhouse, and Howard should be enough at the 2/3 position.

Like griffin, but it's too crowded where he plays. Time to move on..

I'm sure Griff will take a 1 year deal. He takes nothing off the table, understands his role well and does all the dirty work. How many times has he come up with a big loose ball or offensive rebound. I'm all for bringing him back, and there is alot of times this year where he was the "hardhat and lunch pail" player for the team.

It's Griff's offense that is the problem. He is still the best swingman defender the Mavs have. He is 10X more aggressive on defense than Marquis. He bodies up his opponent very well. But he cannot pass that well. He cannot create his own shot. So when he is in the game paired with Howard, the Mavs are playing two small foewards at the same time who cannot pass or create for others, and cannot penetrate/attack the rim off the dribble.

So while I like Griff, he will be too redundant paired with Howard. The Mavs hagve to fill the SG role with a shooter/slasher who can still defend. They drafted Ager who hopefully can fill that role for a few minutes. And maybe they can someone else to fill that role too.

Griff's O consists of the baseline jumper and a garbage bucket or two. I'd keep him around for the simple fact that we don't know how Ager is going to hold up over 82+ games. Also, we thought we were loaded up last year with Daniels, Christie, Stackhouse, Howard, etc. and we know how injuries hurt us in the beginning of the season. I don't really see why Griff, a guy who has been in the league awhile, doesn't get a contract.

I wouldn't mind giving Griff a 2 year deal at the minimum. He's a good end of the bench player but a very poor starter.

I think the recent Daniels deal makes it more likely that Griff returns to Dallas next season. I still believe he has a role here - even if it is smaller than it was this season.

That's what I'm thinking too. I expect him to re-sign a cheap 1-2 year deal.

love me some Griff....seems logical to me that Griff might have just become our 12th man...

Pavel will be gone hopefully very soon. You're right, Griff will be our 10th or 11th man. He'll basically have a DA type role next year, maybe slightly bigger.

Howard is the only guy on the roster who can gaurd small fowards, we need griff back exactly for this. I don't want ager (6'4 210) stack (6'6 218) or terry (6'2 180) gaurding small fowards or big shooting gaurds when howard is on the bench or hurt.

Griff really deserves a two year contract

We definetly should sign either Griff or Buckner.

Griff or armstrong won't be signed until quite late I would expect. They re-signed Armstrong in August, so it'll probably be something like that.
