Beer, Wine, Rock, and Mavs

I have come to the conclusion that people who love sports also love a few other things, a cold brew, a nice bottle of merlot, and music. This tread is about music. I was able to see a band last night that I had not seen in 35 years. As they sang about that sleepy little town down around San Antone, and where would you be now without love, it took me back a lot of years. Of course those songs are China Grove and Long Train Runnin, by the Dobbie Brothers. It was quite a show, in a terrific venue.

I was very lucky when I was in high school, back in the 60's, to attend high school in England, where going to see a concert was a monthly occurance. I was able to see the following groups: The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks, The Who, The Troggs, The Yardbirds (with Eric Clapton), Jimi Hendrix, The Spencer Davis Group, The Animals, and many less know British Invasion Bands.

Upon returning back to the states and college one of the first groups I saw was The Bobbie Brothers. Last night they were minus Michael McDonald, but for the most part you would have not even noticed. They still rock the house. It seems that a lot of the older bands have grown tighter over the years.

I could take pages to list all the groups I have seen since college. But there is nothing like a crowd joing together, singing together, pumping arms, yelling in unison, that is where a concert is a lot like being at a Mavericks game.

If anyone has read this far I only have one thing to say to you, Rock on and Go Mavs.

PS My favorite concert was one in Dallas, back when they had Texas Jams. It featured Collen James, Santana, Steve Miller, and that little band from Texas ZZ Top. That night rocked like no other.

my favorite concert was when I was in 3rd grade. I went to see Michael Jakcson at Reunion on his Thriller tour way back before he was such a weirdo. though I don't care much for him now, that concert will always be stuck in my memory. it was nuts with the moonwalk and the glove and that ugly jacket! however, I would choose a Mav playoff game over any concert. there is nothing like it! especially the game 7's. I was lucky enough to see the Portland game 7 and the Kings game 7 a few years back. wow. so very intense. I was also at game 6 against Miami last year. I wish I could bottle the energy that was in the building that night and sell it. I have never been a part of something so electric! I'm ready to do it again this year with better results!
