Maybe it would have been nice to have someone who could set his teammates up against Golden State rather than a few extra million in Cuban's pocket.
He was traded because he wouldn't do what Avery wanted him to. Do you remember seeing him play for the Mavs? I cringed. The offense was stagnant with him.

In retrospect, how much good would KVB have done for us? Man, we could have definitely put his skills to good use against Golden State. He would have doubtless ripped off several threes, that goes without saying. But perhaps more importantly, he would have also given us much more size (and smarts) on defense.

Van Horn brought a lot of flexibility to our lineup...and we sorely missed it, ever since AJ went away from him in the playoffs in '06.

For me, it was always reassuring knowing the Mavs had a player of KVH's skill coming off the bench. Even more so concerning Quis.. I know the guy is probably locked up right now, but that guy had the length and quickness the Mavs sorely needed against GS. He's also not too shabby of an offensive player. Remember that small ball team of 05-06: Diop/KVH, Dirk, Harris/Terry, Josh, and Quis. Pretty athletic if you ask me.

Edit: Not really small ball, but I guess maybe that's why it was so effective last year.

AJ was horrible, he wouldn't have helped at all. He slowed the offense down and made it lose all flow. He was also slow on D and just never seemed to fit in.

Have to agree chum. but seriously killers heart didn't seem to be in it. I'm sort of hoping he gets churned up again for a lle.

The offense in general was SLOW against Golden State so AJ would have fit in. And there ain't a defender worse than Terry.

In fact, both players dumped for salary reasons this year (AJ and Quisy) would have helped against GS

I doubt Quis would have helped. We needed a zone buster.

True, Quis can't shoot over a zone... but he does everything else. He's quick and athletic with active hands. He's a far better defender and rebounder at the SG position, than Terry or Stack. He's also a good passer, and has an uncanny ability to slither his way close to the basket and finish.

It was just sad that AJ never really could use him well since we were so stacked at the guard position last year. After watching Terry's defense (or lack thereof) against Davis or Richardson, I have no doubts Quis would have been a major help against the Warriors.

Keef Van Horn would have pissed himself when he saw Stephen Jackson's crazy ass running at him. He would not have helped one bit. We didn't need anymore wussies out there v. GS.

Pavel Podkolzine would have dominated that series against the smaller players of Golden State. 7'7" 350pounds. He would be our snowbird-- just sitting under the hoop and tipping in every shot that was put up. The only walking he would need would be out of the paint every few seconds.
