Default One of the toughest questions, ever...

during the last few nights, my friends and I have discussed over topics such as,

"who is your favorite Maverick of all time?"
"who is your favorite Maverick in the last 15 years?"
"who is your favorite Non-Maverick of all time not named Jordan?"
"who are your top 5 favorite NBA players in the last 15 years not on the Mavs?"
"who are your favorite Cowboys?"
"who is the best Cowboy of all time?"

and as you can imagine, the questions go on and on...

HOWEVER

We have come across a question too hard to answer, and I wanted to see what you guys think.

What do you want to see more this year?
A Dallas Mavericks NBA Finals victory?
Or a Dallas Cowboys Superbowl victory?

Oh, man, this is brutal. This really is one of the toughest questions I've ever had to answer.

I'm going to have to go with the latter. I don't think I can even begin to explain why... it's just what my gut says.

The First championship is always the sweetest...and after so much recent disappointment...

I would love to see Mavs pull it through...winning the right way.

As Christian Slaettner said in "Mobsters": I don't accept the question.

Why would we have to want either one any more than the other?

This is EXACTLY where I stand. I can't tell you why, but I say the latter as well.

Gotta pick the mavs. Way too much investment not to want that more.

Break on through to the other side, break on through to the other side

Love both teams, but the answer for me is the Mavs by a landslide. If you offered me a choice between A) A 100% guarantee that the Mavs would win a title this year, with no promises beyond that or B) A 100% guarantee that the Boys would win the next 10 Super Bowls in a row...I would still choose A in a heartbeat.

Why? Well, first of all, as much as I love the Boys, the Mavs are my top Dallas team. Also, while the Mavs are my favorite basketball team at any level by far, the Cowboys aren't even my favorite football team--that honor is reserved for UT.

Lastly, for me it's a pretty easy decision given that the Cowboys have won 5 super bowls (3 in my lifetime) while the Mavs have never won an NBA title. It will be very upsetting if I die without the Mavs ever having won a championship. I don't have to worry about that with the Boys.

I'd take both.....

If I had to choose... Mavs, although I love the 'boys, I have seen many SB victories for them.

I love both, but I would take one Mavs title over multiple Cowboy titles simply because I'm a basketball fan first and foremost. I love the Mavs more than any other team.

The Cowboys are actually third on my list, behind the Rangers. So there you go.

Mavericks for sure.

Now if it were 1 Mavs championship vs. 10 Cowboys? In a row? I don't know... that would be hard to turn down. Do the Mavs for sure not ever win a championship or is it just not guaranteed? Because if they "could" still win one if I chose 10 Cowboys championships I think I'd go that route.

Although either route is a cop out. I don't want a guaranteed championship. I want an earned one.

If those are my only two choices, then I would vote for the Mavs by a landslide. If I may expand on this and include other local teams....

1. Texas Rangers winning the World Series
2. Mavs winning a NBA title (a VERY close runner-up)
3. Dallas Stars winning the Stanley Cup
4. Trinity Trojans winning the 5A State Championship.
5. Dallas Cowboys winning the Superbowl (I've warmed up to them a bit)

How about: 1 mavericks championship or Dirk Nowitzki beats up Tony Romo on live tv at a news conference.

After all that effin' heartache in the '06 finals and last season's playoffs disaster, I can't stand to see Dirk and Mavs not get their first championship.

I knew the answers would be somewhat skewed since this is dallas-mavs.com, but for a person like me who put the Cowboys and Mavericks as 1 and 1a on the favorite team scale, it's definitely not easy to decide =]

I guess it depends on the condition of the victory...

If the Sports Gods are handing out free Championships (see also: Miami Heat), then I'm gonna have to go with the Mavs...

The Cowboys are already a lock for 2-3 Super Bowl victories over the next 7 years... (why? because I said so!)

The Mavs seem to need all the help they can get right now, even though they already have the talent...

Yesterday, my first instictive answer was a Dallas Mavericks championship--because the city of Dallas has never experienced one. Then, I woke up this morning and realized I don't want anything more in this world than to beat the damn Patriots in the Superbowl when they are 18-0.

Then again, Trinity kicked my Nimitz Vikings' ass often enough back in the day. So they can kinda suck it, too.

I love the Boys but I already had my exhilarating football experience of the century sitting in the front row at the Rose Bowl watching UT snap USC's 34 game win streak. Not even a victory over the 18-0 Patriots could top that.

Mavs all the way.

Go, Trojans. Anytime the Wildcats go down is a good time for me.

The FRONT row? Those were like $2,000 seats, dude. Did you actually buy them?

I envy you. It was certainly a great sporting event you witnessed. Still and all, though, it was college. The Cowboys winning against the 18-0 Pats would be twice as big.

Check your PM for the answer to this question.

And to me, nothing in football is bigger than UT. Nothing. More people watch the Super Bowl, more people around the country (and the world) care about the NFL by far....but for me personally, the NFL is the 3rd most significant sport, behind college football and the NBA. Especially as a current Horn, it's not even really close for me.
