Calling all techies...
Can you use a recovery disc from computer to another? I have a emachines desktop and a HP pavilion laptop. The laptop boots up, but when its loading it says its missing a .dll file, and I have no idea where the HP laptop recovery disc is.
Anybody got any suggestions?

Only if you used the same installation disc between both computers (in most cases...)

Two different computers, two different machines. I have never done nothing to them, except open em up and use em.
Problem I am running into is, when it starts, it gets almost started with my wallpaper in the background and than it says I am missing a .dll file. It shows no icons or anything. I can hit CTRL ALT DEL and it comes up, but thats it.
I Haven't started it up in SAFE MOOD yet, think it will go all the way through?

This is the file that was missing: shdocvw.dll
I was able to go in through safe mood, logged into the internet and was able to download a new .dll file to my computer. Than I had to register the .dll file and restarted the computer. Works like a champ now.

Great to hear!
How did the .dll get erased in the first place? (I had the same thing happen once because I deleted a virus that was attached to the file...)
