It's a totally different situation if it's a playoff game vs Week 7. It's a different Entity all together. Yeah, they're playing for the playoffs now, but they're not literally in the playoffs now fighting for their lives.
I won't change my stance that it would be a dumb move to put him in, if Brad went down, when he already stated he didn't feel ready to play. Obviously its a situation where they really don't come out ahead in the matter...so if that's the case, just play it as safe as you can.

I don't buy that either. This team is in disarray. If Romo was physically capable of playing this week, he'd be playing. If that's not the case then someone in the organization needs to step back and realize what kind of trouble this team is going to be in if they're 4-5 going into the bye.

Romo said he was confident he could at least serve as Johnson's backup last week at St. Louis but in pregame warmups he realized he could not catch a snap and throw quickly. Romo said the pain was not an issue.
"I wasn't physically able to get my fingers on the ball in position to throw it," Romo said. "I needed time to get the ball in my hand. I couldn't figure out a way to make it happen."
|
Doesn't sound like someone that was physically capable of playing QB last week.

Well, Brad Johnson didn't look a guy who was physically able to play QB, either. Pick your poison, I guess.

why do all you people want to rush romo back? What happens if his pinkie finger gets bent backwards? Then you will all be saying, i wish we didn't rush him back.

Brooks "Mother-Effing" Bollinger
[he's not Tony Romo's pinkie, he's not Brad Johnson's 40 years...]

Take the loss, Let Brooks get some time and keep Romo safe/out of harms way...that works for me.

Well I think what people are saying is what's the point of bringing Romo back to a team that's 4-6 anyway? To make the Detroit pick worse than its gonna be because right now the Lions have to like what they're seeing.

It doesn't worry you that Brooks Bollinger got cut by a team that has Tavaris Jackson, John David Booty and Gus Ferotte at quarterback?

Nope - he's our next Drew Henson!

Can he possibly be worse than BJ was last week? I don't think so. Brooks BAMF Bollinger FTW!

Wade just said in his press conference that Bollinger would have gone in if Johnson had ever had to come out last week.
And Bollinger is the backup this week.
So, now....rationalize Romo being the backup......

I'm glad Romo is waiting til he's fully recovered.
Let's say after the bye, we are 4-5 (worst case scenario).
@ Redskins
49ers
Seahawks
@ Steelers
Giants
Ravens
@ Eagles
We are controlling our own destiny. A 9-7 or 10-6 finish would give this team tons of momentum heading into the post season. Go Cowboys.
Even though, I can almost guarantee that we're going to get a win either against the Bucs or Giants, with Johnson as our starting QB... call me crazy I guess.

Personally, I'd rather see Bartel, and I think he is on the street somewhere.
At least he has an arm.

I'd be careful assuming that 9-7 gets you into the playoffs.

Well, who knows. Inactives are due an hour before kickoff, so maybe Romo didn't know yet that he couldn't go.

What worries me a lot me a LOT more than that is if Johnson got hurt and we send out Romo who has admitted he isn't ready to play and the potential downfall of what could happen if things go south.
I think 9-7 really puts you on the bubble. You gotta find a way to get to get healthy and to 10-6 to make it a little easier on yourself.

Judging by how little interest other teams have had in Culpepper...I think it's safe to say that there's some huge issues and/or concerns about his health and whether or not he can still play.
I would have liked to have seen Johnson replaced...but not with Culpepper.

Come on guys, Brad Johnson has a super bowl ring
Oh yeah, he's also the only QB to ever throw a TD pass to himself. If that doesn't set your pants on fire I don't know what will.

The Brooks Bollinger File: Troy Aikman, Phil Simms and some guy I know weigh in
9:27 AM Thu, Oct 30, 2008 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz
Barry Horn E-mail News tips
Today I will try to get some folks in the know to weigh in on Brooks Bollinger vs. Brad Johnson. You know, get them to answer the most pressing question of the week. Who should start Sunday against the Giants?
Troy Aikman:
"Brad Johnson. It seems like a real stretch to think that Brooks Bollinger, after 10 career starts in six seasons and not having joined the Cowboys until September 8th, would be the best candidate to give the Cowboys a chance to win on Sunday against the defending World Champions.
Better mobility appears to be the primary argument on behalf of Brooks. I appreciate the fact that the game has changed in the eight years since I retired but I feel certain that there is more to playing QB in the NFL than escaping a pass rush."
Phil Simms:
"I would go with Brad without hesitation. His performance from the first game to the second game and his decision making were better. People say 'I love Brooks because he's more mobil.' Where's he going to run? He goes outside the pocket because he is not tall and he can not see downfield...
"I watched every play with Brad Johnson in the preseason and he beared up. He made plays. He had touch on the ball. He needs space to throw, He can't create his own space. It seems every time he throws now he is flicking the ball off his back foot. Tony Romo can move his feet and create that space."
But in the end Simms said:
"I'll say this when you have a good team like the Dallas Cowboys do, Brad should be your third-string quarterback."
Network TV type who is a longtime Jets season-ticket holder who has actually seen Bollinger start nine games for his beloved team.:
"Brooks Bollinger was probably the sorriest excuse for a quarterback the Jets have ever allowed to play in the Meadowlands this side of Rick Mirer."

Here's the bottom line.. The Cowboys personnel department needs to be slapped around for keeping Brad Johnson and for bringing in Bollinger.
