Your Texas Rangers!: Official 2009 Thread
Here we can discuss the day-to-day happenings of our boys out at the temple. I'm not going today, but I'll be watching the game on television. Millwood is starting, they're wearing their red jerseys and my sports pants are just a little bit perky right now. Marlon Byrd, Elvis Andrus and Hank are all in the opening lineup today.

Over/Under on Ranger errors today?
And yeah...what alex said. Try to carry the summer a little better, won't you, Rangers? You were out of it by the time the Stars were finishing the playoffs last season, and clearly that's a luxury not afforded to me this year.

The Texas Rangers???
Is that soccer or arena league football?
(or did the NBA give us another D-league team???)

Angels placed 3 of their starters on the DL today.

One of my favorite days of the year. Took the day off today so I could park on the couch and enjoy it.
I have no idea what to think about this season. If the veteran pitchers pull through this team could be feisty in a bad division. But I fear the bullpen is going to drag us down until they bring up Holland and Felez to get their feet wet.

I am pumped for the Rangers this season. The first one in a long while.
They actually seem to have the talent to go a long way. We will see though.

I'm not sure that this thread will contain an entire season... we'll adjust as needed.. But, I haven't been this freaking anxious for a sporting event in a long time.

The new scoreboard looks pretty sweet.

I was at the exhibition game Saturday. All of the changes are sweet, except the video portion of the new scoreboard is just too dang small. Maybe it will be useful at night but during the day it was useless.
Love the brick, and it's going to create some interesting base running scenarios. Past balls were bouncing all the way back to the ump.
As to the uniforms, first of all I just think the red and white look great. Secondly it harkens back to the three division title run when they were the "Red Shoed Rangers".

Hmmm...the Stars send me vouchers for tickets all the time. I should check that out...I heard about the scoreboard, but I didn't know there were other things.

OK, so, should I buy an Andrus jersey, or have his name tattoo'd onto my back?

Both.
Seriously, I recognize he's going to struggle this season offensively, but I'm SO excited about that dude. So freaking excited.

Now see, Josh and Tom didn't make a big deal out of that at all, but that's a single last year. Talking about the bouncer up the middle that Andrus made the plaon on.
So two months from now when people are complaining about Evis' low batting average and perhaps his high error total, remind them about the balls he gets to that MY never did.

Yep. I was surprised. When that ball was hit, I thought "Oh, well, just a little single." Didn't even occur to me that a shortstop was capable of reaching that ball.

Any chance they could just call the game now before the bull pen gets out there?

8th and 9th (assuming CJ and Frankie are available) are not the ones to worry about.
It's the rest of the bullpen that frightens me.

Long Relief (Rupe) doesn't frighten me, either.. I think the bullpen will be fine, even a positive, as long as the starters do well. But if we start having starting pitching issues and Rupe becomes unavailable, that's when we'll be effed.
I've been to three opening days and they've lost all of them. The two I don't go to, they win. Bahhhh.

I need to see concrete proof that they're only going to use Eddie as a LOOGY before I can feel good about the bullpen. And I really don't think Madrigal is ready.
