But who?
Kidd/Barea/Banks/Boobie
Josh/Terry/Carroll
Marion/George/Williams
Dirk
Damp/Gortat
Thats allready 13 counting out Bass. Green wont be back either for sure. We need 2 other bigs, would like to have Singleton and Hollins back. Thats 15, no place for Ross.
Waiving George or Williams?
With Banks Boobie could have stayed a year more in france but he can learn so much every day in training with Kidd...

Question, if we acquire Barnes how are we going to acquire Ross?

Can't see us waiving George's contract. Could be used w/Damp. Also he has championship pedigree

Well, Williams is a goner for sure, considering he was literally banished from the team last year.

Waiving Williams. Bring Singleton, Hollins and Ross (or Barnes), thats 15.
I can live with that roster, Howard and Marion can move up one position, Gortat one down.

But he was going to become a 20 point per game scorer with that sweet jumper and that crazy wingspan!!!

Just read this part of the db article:
Damp-style-structured contracts:
Cavs - Delonte West - 4.5mil
Griz - Greg Buckner - 4.27mil
Heat - James Jones - 4.65mil
Wolves - R Gomes - 4.39mil
Nets - K Dooling - 3.83mil
That seems to be it. None of those five even compares to the value of “The DUST Chip,’’ which is worth three times the relief more than what those contracts provide
WHAT WHAT WHAT!!?
How has this not been discussed?
We defintly need to hold on to the damp chip, unless he himeself gets us an allstar/superstar now. We could be big players next summer!

Fish claims he has in-house thoughts on what the Mavs think about some of these free agents.
Quote:
Jason Richardson – The Mavs think he’s a bit of a knucklehead – though maybe a good-natured knucklehead -- and for a guy who considers himself a shooter. … well, they don’t think he’s a very consistent one. Any media people pushing this idea haven’t shared many whispers with many Mavs staffers.
Anthony Parker – Dallas likes him. He’d be the starter at 2-guard if he was added to last year’s roster. But he’s not a candidate for anything involving The Stack Chip. He’s more of a BAE possibility. So he’s on Dallas’ wish list … but not as it relates to Marion.
Michael Redd -- Much admired. But too hurt and too expensive to be ideal.
Marquis Daniels – Certainly the Mavs would like to get him back on the cheap. (Parker or ‘Quis for the BAE? An interesting debate.) Josh would be excited! I think he’d start (that’s my opinion) but if you are looking for upgraded shooting from the 2-guard spot, he leaves something to be desired. Mid-range? Yes. Open up the floor in a way that puts Jason Kidd at his best? No.
Leandro Barbosa – The Mavs think the Suns are continuing to re-make their roster … but that the fire sale is over. “They’ll make more trades,’’ I am told, “but from now on, it’ll be player-for-player, value-for-value.’’
Matt Barnes – Some Mavs staffers are not especially fans of his game. Move him way down on your list.
Rudy Fernandez – I’m having a tough time keeping up with Portland. Did they piss him off already?
Rip Hamilton – ESPN’s Marc Stein has expressed the view that Dallas isn’t targeting him.
Corey Maggette – If his head was screwed on and his salary wasn’t so bloated. … but it’s not and it is.
Marvin Williams – Well, I said this was a “wish list.’’
Dwyane Wade – Well, I said this was a “wish list.’’
Actually, Wade’s availability seems like fantasy. … but he is indicating that he’ll take into consideration Miami’s status as a contender before he re-ups. And they are about ready to start talking. And if Miami cannot appease him, with 2010 free agency looming. … and his new team could structure a Sign-and-Trade that pays Wade more than he might otherwise get. … and that same S-and-T would give Miami something while preventing Wade from being free for the next six years. …
Surely Miami isn’t going to goof this up. But if they do. …
|
Many on this board believe Rip would be better for us than Marion, I guess the F.O. disagrees.

A 2 guard is definately a need over Marion. Marion brings alot of things this team lacks that's for sure but Marion isn't going to fix this teams defensive woes over night. He'll mask some of them we still have players are positions who leave much to be desired on the defensive end. This team needs more consistent scoring and RIP fills that void.

So, my sources aren't as strong as BG's, but I had a dream last night that the Mavs lineup looked like:
Kidd/Boobie
Wade/Barea
Marion/Ross
Dirk/Singleton
Gortat/Bea Arthur
(don't ask me - it was a dream!)

So, a thought on the LLE. Every season it seems like some team thats season is going no where cuts a vet to let him sign for a chance for a ring and to save payroll. We usually have no money to offer, but what if we save the LLE chip to see if a weakness develops in our team, or maybe someone who can bring something to a championship run emerges. Obviously if that person is there now ge him, but why use it just to use it.

This isn't worth putting in a seperate thread but I just wanted to throw it out there for those who were interested in signing this GD retard!!! It's just stupid and on top of that depending on what you believe it's worse honoring a child pred.

Artest will wear uniform No. 37 in honor of the number of weeks that Michael Jackson's album "Thriller" was No. 1 on the charts.
No, really.

I like that Randy likes to talk hoops. He doesn't know the game...but he sure like to talk about it, and he regularly brings in guys who do know the game, so it works out.

So does that put Wright on the block?
Obviously the Mavs are working on another trade here.. They have too many pieces with value.
If we get Marion and put together roughly $5m worth of trade pieces, who do you really think they'll target?

Supposedly the Suns aren't having a fire sale anymore. They're willing to make trades still but they want equal value. (or to screw you if they can, of course)

Very similar to what Kidd Karma just posted, but Stein just posted that the cap should be shrinking by a good chunk for the 2010 offseason:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/s...e=NBAHeadlines
You'd have to think this news bodes well for us, right?

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cavaliers are on the verge of making their first free agent signing of the summer.
According to a league source, the team has agreed to the structure of a contract with veteran guard Anthony Parker. The deal is not finalized, but is expected to be completed in the next several days.
Parker, 34, played for the Toronto Raptors for the last three seasons after starring in Europe. The 6-6 wing averaged 10.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 43 percent from the floor and 39 percent from 3-point range.
He fills a major need the Cavs have for a tall wing player and was one of the team's top off-season targets at the position. They have been in talks with him since the first day of free agency. They talked to the Raptors about a sign-and-trade, but when Toronto decided to sign Hedo Turkoglu the Cavs moved on to deal with Parker directly.
Parker is an athletic player who is effective at creating his own shot, which he did often in Europe when he became the Euroleague's Most Valuable Player, and as a spot-up shooter. He has also been an effective defensive player guarding tall wing players, which is what the Cavs most need.
Over the last three seasons he's started 226 of 235 games, but may come off the bench for the Cavs behind Delonte West.

I'm not sure if it means we could offer more than anyone else, but it should decrease the number of other buyers in the market. So our DUST piece, coupled with an owner willing to spend, should push us to the front of the room when it comes to the market for big names, I would think.
