I took a sick day, but I'm actually sick - all this stressing over free agency gave me a bit of a head cold... Deron Williams better make these sleepless nights worthwhile.

@KennyBybee: @WojYahooNBA just said on WFAN radio in NY that DWill still hasn't given Brooklyn or Dallas a decision.

I've billed 4 hours already today. I'm in a multitasking zone like whoa.

so it doesnt work this year and it doesnt work next year either. Nets literally cannot pay all 5 guys this year and it would only get more expensive.

Right, so the Nets can get Deron or Dwight but not both, either way it sounds like Orlando likes lakers trade package better.

Yeah, that's why it annoys me espn is reporting it as possible. The only way it works is if Wallace is a big piece of the sign and trade but then that makes no sense for either side and they've promised Wallace they won't do that. The Jj trade made Howard an impossibility

DWill signs with Dallas
Mavs trade with Orlando and land Howard with a long term contract...the price...they traded Dirk.
So, how would the fans reac, landing DWill and Howard at the price of losing Dirk?

I feel like the longer this goes on the worse it is for us Mavs...
If this was a done deal months ago, wouldn't it be done?

Lakers now top contender in Dwight sweepstakes, with the Nets totally out of it possibly helps the Mavericks marginally. Still, I think Deron will make the poor decision and re-up with them. Enjoy mediocrity if he does.

Terry rumored to be 3 years at the MLE. Anyone want to shed light on what that will cost us to match?

I feel the exact opposite - the longer this goes on, the worse it is for Nets fans...
If he was going to sign in Brooklyn just because "it's Brooklyn," wouldn't he have done it already? Seems like he's waiting to see who comes up with a better roster - Mavs already have a big head start with Dirk...

The collusion arguments go out the door as time goes on.
You can then spin it how you want.
Deron couldn't wait to go to Dallas and leave that rotten franchise but now Brooklyn is making it interesting with their pitch and moves and now he needs more time to digest.
Deron was pretty sure he was resigning for cash and the move to Brooklyn but Dallas' pitch is making him reconsider and he needs more time to digest.

I gotta say, I love how Deron is taking his time. That dude marches to his own drum.

Yep, regardless of the outcome, I'll come away from this respecting Deron Williams. He may choose Brooklyn... Let's be honest, Dallas isn't the best place in the world to play right now either...

I see it like this.
Deron decided already to stay in NJ,
but
the longer he waits the more money NJ will spend for his supporting cast. Deron wants to keep them in a desperate/aggressive mode as long as possible.
If he wanted to go to DAL, he would have announced it already and it would give us more time to build a solid team around him and Dirk. But he clearly seems to care more about NJ right now and not the MAVS.

The Nets have pretty much maxed-out their assets (assuming they re-sign Lopez) and he still hasn't made a decision...

Yeah, good thing Dirk's no-trade clause makes that scenario an impossibility...

The Nets are still going to go after Howard regardless of whether DWill resigns with them or not. DWill not signing doesn't hinder their aggressiveness. If anything, it allows them to be less desperate when trying to deal for Howard which is probably better for whatever is left of the long term health for the franchise.
My read is that he's trying to see if the Nets can land Howard, otherwise, he's on his way to Dallas.
