I'm pretty sure she only got offended because that word was being used in a derogatory manner - literal use, as in the case of JJT, is probably okay...

I mean more antisocial in the "that guy does not know how to have a conversation like a normal person under any circumstances" sense.

Just to clarify, I never used the word "offend" or "offended." I just said "irked." Minor annoyance. I defy any of you to truly offend me. It's pretty much impossible.

Maybe you've got a low threshold.
I've never talked to him, but my "source" worked with him for several years at the DMN and was in close contact with him regularly.

Well, BG... get back in the kitchen and start cooking up some ideas on where the Mavs go from here.
Donnie on the radio said they weren't finished with their roster. I am assuming he meant that it is more than just re-signing Delonte. Toronto did not amnesty Calderon and are looking to trade for him. TMAVFAN, DLord have thrown out some scenarios of getting him. Would Toronto take Roddy/Dojo etc to get rid of Calderon? The major snag it appears is he is owed 10+ million. Mavs don't really have too many assets to trade for him even if it is just spare parts.

To me, this all goes back to one thing: 41.
Dirk is one of the most unique players this league has ever seen. He has to go down as one of the most underrated players in the history of the game that can make his teammates better. He does it in a way that wasn't flashy like Magic or anything, but it's just there. When he's on, he's absolutely unstoppable. The geometry of the floor is radically different when he steps onto the court. There truly is a "Dirk bump" when you're sharing time with him.
This team has pieces that have never been apart of the offensive system. You've got the ability to go inside, outside, stretch the floor and penetrate towards the basket. You have all of that to go with Dirk.
As long as the rug hasn't been tugged out from under him, just the mere presence of Dirk on the floor is going to allow the others to do what they do, but possibly do it in a way that's unfamiliar to them - do it with room to breathe.
It's going to take work for them to figure out how to make things run in a way where everything can mesh. Carlisle is going to have to take the wheel when it comes to the offense. Flow is more than likely gone from the equation, but we know he's one of the best in the business at coming up with schemes that can bring out the best in who is on the floor.
It's going to be incredibly fun to watch.

Birdman has been amnestied by the Nuggets. If he makes it through waivers do the Mavs have interest with the vets minimum?

Nah, bringing back Delonte West should fill our quota for tattoos... Unless you think Andersen has value as a player?

No to Birdman.
I'm still wondering where Carter fits. His minutes should go to Mayo and guys we want to develop (Roddy, Cunningham, etc). DoJo + VC still come up way short for Calderon but can we find a clever way or use them to get another PG?

Im not sure how much value he adds but he wouldn't be a bad guy to have as another 4/5 as insurance if someone is injured.

God, I guess. That is disappoint. Still would like to get another PG on the roster.
If VC were moved, a few cheap FA backup SF options include JHo, Vlad Rad and the much hated Matt Barnes.

Donnie and Cubes should be done, I can see Calderon if DoJo/Roddy or Carter are out out of the way.
Birdman/Blatche... rather roll with Dirk/Brand/Kaman/Wright

Looks like the roster will take away one of the things the Mavs really liked exploring over the course of last year: Vince as a 2.

We still have a spot for a PG (with the assumption that Delonte takes it).
What's the issue with Vince as the backup SF? I think he's good in that role. He got overexposed a bit last year, but strictly as a backup I think he's good.

Me, too. The Odom debacle forced him to play far too much for scoring punch, but he was pretty effective when his minutes were limited. I was also surprised by how well he played D for his age. Not a bad reserve at all. I suppose there is a chance that Crowder forces his way into the mix, but the versatility of most of this roster (outside of Kaman, Dirk and Collison playing one position) should mean that he can still get decent minutes.
This season should be very interesting from a lineup perspective. If we thought Carlisle was a mad scientist in the past, just wait to see what he does with this roster.

I agree about the PG. I like Collison but I'm not convinced he is who we want starting.

Please no. I like Calderon but I'd rather give Dojo/Roddy a real chance than have him at that price. I'm not convinced we should trade Dojo.

I think VC's probably fine in that backup SF role at 15-20 mpg although I really don't like the idea giving minutes to a 35 year old for this squad. I would live with it.
My disappointment is based on my belief we need another starting caliber PG (so West doesn't fit the bill although I like him on the team). I'd love to see Collison run with the job and be our starting PG for the next 6 years but I'm not betting on it. He lost his starting job last year and was pretty much traded away on purpose. I'd be disappointed if we go into camp with the starting point guard job as his to lose. I'd want him to win it and we'd need real competition to make that happen.

I think Delonte will provide more than enough competition. They're not going to bring in a third PG that could compete to start.

Seriously? Finding a better starting PG than DC seems highly unlikely at this point.
Plus, I think the kid is going to greatly benefit from playing for Carlisle and with Dirk.
*He seemed genuinely excited to get out of Indiana's system and back into an offense that will allow him to run more P&R.
He definitely doesn't see himself as a pass only type PG though. When asked if playing with Dirk and Kaman will lift his assist average to new heights, he said he hoped so, but that he "still had to be" himself...which I assumes means a PG who looks to score.

For the guys that don't think collison will be good, he's a pick and roll pg who struggled when he got away from the pick and roll system. He's coming to a team with dirk nowitzki who happens to be the best pick and roll big since Karl Malone. There is no way that dirk doesn't help collisons game.

I actually think West is a borderline starter type guy at the PG spot.

I want West as insurance but I'd like to see if Dojo or Collison can be the man going forward. Yes i know Dojo is a very long shot. I know what Delonte brings but I dont think he will can be the starting guard on a championship team.

I'd love to have West back, but I've gotta agree (for now) that DC will and should start.

I see no reason that DC/West wouldn't be a satisfactory PG line up. (Obviously West can also play the 2)

That's almost without a doubt.. But, I still see West as a borderline starter type guy at the PG spot. I suppose that's about how I see DC right now. But with DC's youth and with West playing some 2guard as well, DC is the obvious choice to start at PG.

I'd say 20+.. not sure about 25+ although it could be possible. The Mavs have a PG and SG that weren't at their best this past season. If that continues, look for more minutes for West.
