Long 2's are the worst shot in basketball. If anything DSJ needs to kick it to him early if they want to have 1 dribble before they pullup. I'm sure it's something they will work on.

Agreed. The worst shot in basketball is the one you are worst at making.

A long 2 with 18 seconds on the shot clock in transition is not good. Barnes can get a long 2 off whenever he wants, he proved it all last year. Shooting a long 2 with that much time on the shot clock to me is basically bailing a defense out.

I think generally speaking you're right, but Barnes is the best scorer on the team, and I support any strategy that gets him the ball where he's comfortable. Hopefully over the next season or so he can develop a more consistent stroke from 3.

Would be nice to get Dozier on the Legends, but I'm sure someone will pick him up -- there's a lot to like about his game.
Guessing Gian gets that other 2-way now.

@IsaacHarrisNBA: On Mavs note, now we wait to see if Clavell will convert to a two-way, be on official roster or be waived
@IsaacHarrisNBA: Assuming Wayns & Warney follow Dozier, roster sits at 17 including Motley at two-way. Will need to convert someone to two-way or waive one
@IsaacHarrisNBA: Reminder, Mavs do not have to fill the roster. Could waive two and go into season with open roster spot
@IsaacHarrisNBA: The Withey, Mejri, Kleber situation is interesting. I really think Kleber makes it. Withey vs Mejri is a legit debate

Per @MavsPR, the @dallasmavs have waived P.J. Dozier, Jameel Warney and Maalik Wayns.

When do they have to have final rosters in? Hopefully Dozier makes it to the Legends. This team needs another wing or 2, but Clavell played really well when he was out there. Did Kleber do anything to be deserving of a roster spot? I don't recall hearing his name much at all during the preseason. I think Mejri could easily be traded for a 2nd rounder, but I think I'd rather keep him for a midseason move.

I actually think keeping a roster spot open might be the wise choice. That way you can just fill in a need when/if injuries happen.

@espn_macmahon: Several teams have expressed interest in SG Gian Clavell, per a source. He's only Mavs camp invitee who wasn't waived today.

Clavell deserves a spot on a team. Hoping he gets either a contract or we get something for him so he can play on another team. With Curry out and the two-way days starting in November when the G-league starts, seems like a no-brainer if he's willing to take a two-way deal

Regarding Dsj and the passes to trailing shooters. It almost looks like he's passing it a second too early and they aren't close enough to the 3pt line to justify launching a shot that early. Even when he's hit Dirk on the trail it's almost caused hesitation. I fully agree overall that the long 2 after a bounce or two early in shot clock is a waste most times.

Yea it seems like a no brainer to me as well. He clearly has game and makes good decisions consistently enough to play meaningful minutes.

Not sure if anyone is willing to trade for him, or if they're just eager to snag him if he hits waivers... McMahon's post was a little unclear.

@BallinWithBryan: Rick Carlisle told reporters that Seth Curry won't play this week. Improving but said it as a week-to-week situation, not day-to-day.

I don't want to commit to because I'm not sure how my next 24 hours are going to shake out, but if I'm awake tonight at midnight I'll put something up

@ESefko: Not sure if Detlef Schrempf, Uwe Blab and Christian Welp ever were in the same game together, but Dirk, Schroder, Kleber will be Wednesday.
