Not sure where Barea gets minutes, but he is one tough little guard. Guess the training staff had a lot of experience with Wes.

Aric Holman was waived by the Lakers to make room for Howard
Mavs just picked him up off waivers.
6'10" forward who averaged 10pts, 6reb, and 1.6bocks in college on 43% shooting from three. Decent rim-running big who can hit the NBA three. Seems like a promising skillset for the NBA in 2019-2020. Good size to boot.
Still super weird, because we are literally capped at 15/15 and 2/2. Maybe we just want him to come to camp and to the G-league. Maybe he has a chance of bumping a two-way guy. It's a nice move to profit off the Lakers. I just don't think he has much of a chance to make the roster.

Powell with a higher ceiling?
Probably not but seems to have a decent skillset that is conducive to our system.

Incentives in Delon Wright's deal, per @BobbyMarks42
: $350K for All-Defensive first or second team, $350K for All-Star, $350K for Most Improved Player. Mavs should give Wright the minutes he'd need to make an MIP case.

Sounds like the Mavs know what they have and what he should be angling for.
No reason he can't qualify for at least all-defensive second team. MIP may bout of reach

Mavs have a few players that could be up for MIP depending on who gets minutes. Still more IFs all around the roster than I'd like though.

Who are you considering?
Doncic - unlikely because he's a sophomore and because he was so good last year
KP - same. Hard to get MIP after putting up 22-7 in his last season he played.
Guys who I consider have a chance:
Justin Jackson - more minutes and more consistency. Could go from 8-2 to something like 16-7
Delon Wright- when given minutes, he was basically on par with Westbrook, averaging a triple double.
Brunson - got better throughout the season. Averaged 15-5-3 on good shooting numbers after the allstar break. If he keeps that up, he could be good for 17-7-5.

Pretty much those three and possibly Powell.

A lot of people are going to forget about Frank when they see his 2.0 form on the court in Delon Wright.
Strong defense, triple-double threat every night, smart decision-maker.
I wouldn't mind Frank backing up Wright, because I love having interchangeable pieces but getting Wright severely reduced my interest in Frank.

Bingo, bango. And these foreign guys tend to play well for their country's teams. He played great in the 4th, but it's not like he had some sort of breakout performance. Social media goes nuts over any remotely intriguing storyline.
Delon is just a better version of Frank.

Maybe? It seems like another foreign guy that Cuban signs to get international interest. He got a contract offer to go back to the Japanese B-League with the Alvark Tokyo team. They're not the NBA, but they still have a few contracts in the millions and most contracts in the mid 6-digits. That beats the heck out of $35,000 he'd get in Frisco.
Only way Baba stays after training camp is if he gets a roster spot on the Mavs or if he is super desperate to get exposure from American scouts. There are so few scouts in the Japanese B-league that it might give him a chance at moving up.

Question I have is with the full 20-man roster in pre-season do we even see KP and Doncic play together for 30 total minutes?
On one hand, we absolutely need time to gel and play together. On the other, Rick really loves to completely crap on preseason and plays almost exclusively young guys and G-leaguers to keep the main roster guys fresh, because 82 games is already too long without adding 5 more games.

Does either guy even play 30 minutes in the preseason? Like you said, Rick likes to experiment and test players, plus I doubt they lean too hard on KP until the games matter.

Is there some way we could steal Buddy Hield from the Kings? I'm just imagining a starting 5 of Curry, Hield, Luka, KP and Powell. Wouldn't be the best defensively, but the offense that lineup could generate would be insane....

No. Next best shot at a star is 21/22 FA.

The CP3-RWB swap is exactly the kind of trade we need to avoid -- making a move just for the sake of making a move never pans out.

Brogdon was my top choice this summer, and we didn't even need to give up picks like Indy did to make it happen -- we could have just offered him more money, but he was willing to work with the Bucks so he could get a deal inked and over with early in free agency. He was exactly what this team needed, and would have been worth every penny. C'est la vie.

To be fair, even Luka didn't think Luka would be this good. Only the most delusional homer would have projected his growth correctly.

Based on what? If they win their next game, they will be on the same pace record wise as last season.

Was never going to happen, even with throwing some more money (either Pacers offer the same or Brogdon takes some less money for Indy). He was locked in to go Indy. He wanted to be there since his draftnight
Quote:
Brogdon has always had an interest in the Pacers. Brogdon was hoping the Pacers would have selected him in the 2016 NBA Draft; now it seems to be a perfect match.
“Indiana was my number one target in the draft. We had decided that was the best fit for me. With coach McMillan being a former second-round pick and sort of having a similar path to the NBA as me and a team growing but could use what I bring to the table… we were really pushing for me to go there. I loved everything about the makeup of the team and the organization.” – Malcolm Brogdon, per Mark Montieth

Curious as to why Brogdon didn't feel Dallas would be a good fit for him knowing that we had luka and KP plus Rick as coach?
