If you're going to down play him at least get the stats right. I don't think PG is our problem at the moment.

At the end of the day, I feel like Kidd/Salmons/Howard/Dirk/Damp with JET coming off the bench is a significant upgrade to our roster, but I still don't see us beating the Lakers or Celtics (although I think that squad could hang with most other teams in a 7-game series...)
Brad Miller doesn't do much for me either, but he'd be a big step up from Hollins if we can get him without giving up anyone of value...

looks like it's time this thread got back into form...
thank goodness.
I honestly would be happy with another player that can bring 10-15 points and some comparable defense to Wright. Either way, we're adding those points and bringing some better defense to the team.
I think the fact OKC is somewhat out now with the expiring deals, we move up some more up the list. We might not be #1, but we're possibly #2 now. I think that deal with Chandler helps us out in the sense of the west and the chance that if we really want Salmons, then we can get him.

People who strictly go to the box scores to analyze point guards should just stop watching basketball altogether.

I feel the same way. It's not what I was hoping for but I'd accept it as a decent deadline deal.
I checked trade checker and there isn't any way we can get Salmons and Miller. We simply don't have enough salary to throw in a deal unless we're including Howard, which we obviously wouldn't in that scenario.

The only thing I'm not sure about yet is how the final stretch of games go with who is on the court. If Salmons can stay active and not disappear in the 4th, then let's just use Josh for our 1st quarter action and bring it up.
Damp, Dirk, Salmons, Jet, Kidd

Brad Miller is one of the last people I'd want on this team.
edit: can we get a timeout for longsufferingmavstoddler please.
Not liking Kidd is one thing. Spamming the board is something entirely different.

Please put an end to this mods. With the deadline nearing, I really want to read about trade rumors when I visit the website... not spam.

I'd be alright having him back up Dampier if that's the best we could get for Stack's contract, but only as a secondary trade after a much larger/more significant deal...
Of course I'm ONLY referring to his offensive talent and ability to pick up 6 fouls in comparison to Hollins (contracts aside...)

Anyway, Beno is better than Barea in every statistical category. Barea might get his numbers in less minutes, but I for one am not a fan of Barea when he starts taking ton of shots in a short amount of time (especially when Terry and Dirk are in the game).
Obviously Beno's contract sucks though and we don't want to pick that up, but I think it would be silly to say that Barea is as good as Beno. Kidd would probably make Beno better just like he did Barea.

He's an obvious upgrade to Hollins... but he's SUCH a tool...

No to Brad Miller. A tentative "yes" to Salmons. It makes us better and deeper but probably doesn't get us to the WConf. Finals.

Amen to the small print, but we're setting our expectations much lower to keep our hearts from getting broken...
(but I'd feel like a kid on Christmas morning if we could actually swing that deal - I've been jonesing for the Big Diesel ever since he Kobe had their falling out in LA!)

He would have won one with Dirk rather than DGayde.

There's no way their Brain Trust could want to keep Shaq there if they are going back to run and gun. The main reason Shaq has been playing so good this year is because the offense changed.
I just don't see them trading inside their own conference... Especially if they think they can compete with Nash and Amare still.

The more I think about a Shaq trade, the more I like it. Even if he doesn't perform at the level he's been at this year for us, he's still no worse than Damp. Even if he's having a bad game, the threat of Shaq in the post is enough to open things up more for Dirk, Jet, etc.

That's why I'm not all out sold that they won't trade Shaq by Thursday. There is still an outside shot at it happening. Either way, they'll be happy to let him roll off after next season or try to find a package in the summer that will work out to get him out of the way.
They're finally coming to their senses that it was dumb to try to move Amare and keep Shaq around. It might not be the systematic way to get to the Finals, but the Run and Gun works best for what they've got on that team.

Terry Porter is an idiot.
That's almost as dumb as trying to turn Dirk into Tim Duncan, or not starting Damp against GS, or keeping Devin in the doghouse for so long, or benching Kidd at the end of a close rivalry game, or...
You get my point

I agree, trading him within the conference seems like a stretch. I think this trading deadline has the potential to play out much differently than past years though because of the economic situation. Some owners, and Robert Sarver seems like he would definitely fall in this group, might sacrifice a lot if they can save $20+ million...
At least, that's what I'm hoping for...
