i just watched it last night and am going to re-watch it tonight. first off, i cant believe you guys didnt love this episode.
1) hawking explains the nature of the island is that its always moving and that, she says, is "why they were never discovered" (oceanic 815.) i think that gives us some big closure on an issue we may have thought we knew but never knew.
2) also, she seems to also confirm the vile vortices theory we've long since suspected.
3) we have waited weeks (and sometimes years) for things to develop on this show (i thought jack, kate, & sawyer would never escape from the others in season 3 and it was putting me to sleep) and we're only a handful of episodes into this season and THEYVE ALREADY MADE IT BACK TO THE ISLAND. i love the pace lately!
4) i know there was some hokey stuff- but i thought the great seriously outweighed the merely good.
xerxes out.

I think it was the execution I had problems with rex. I am glad they are on the Island.... and now that they are it looks like we might be getting intimate with Dharma.

I just finally watched this week's episode. I thought it was probably the best of the season so far. A couple things--
First, I'm really annoyed at how the writers copped out with the Hurley situation. I mentioned the possibility of a gaping plot hole before when Ben's lawyer made that comment about how easy it'd be to get him "off the hook," and that's exactly what ended up happening. You've got a guy who has a photo snapped of him holding a gun over a gun who fell from a balcony shot dead, and 3-4 witnesses. And when he turns himself in, Ben's lawyer just magically gets him out of it? Sorry, but the writers really dropped the ball on that one. They shouldn't have written in the "Hurley turns himself into the police" plot-line if they didn't have a reasonable, believable exit plan.
On a more positive note, I want to say that I really, really love what the writers have done with Ben. I could have said this as early as the beginning of last season, but they really have Ben in this sort of no man's land where we have no idea if he's really one of the protagonists or not. The fact that they've managed to build and maintain that tension for so long is nothing short of impressive.

It didn't take me much longer than halfway through the first season or so to realize that a good 50% or more of the tension on Lost is rooted in everybody's unwillingness (or at least extreme hesistancy) to divulge any sort of information to everyone else. How many times have we witnessed this exchange--
Character A: "Who/what/when/where/how _______________?"
Character B: "It's not important."/"Please, just trust me."/"I can't tell you that."/"Shut up!"/"I don't want to talk about it"/"You already know the answer."/<silence and a blank stare>/<walk away without answering>/etc.
Audience: "Wow, how mysterious!"
I really like the show, but it starts to get completely unbelievable after awhile the way everybody is so reluctant to tell anybody else anything.

Isn't that all just an excuse to have a Hurley flashback episode later in the season, to fill in all the holes that you hate?
Same thing with Ben, Sayid, and Kate?
I don't ever feel like things are being held from me, or skated around anymore...it seems like they're just creating some nice opportunities for flashbacks later on, no?

Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if you're right on that. Obviously there will most certainly be some explanation in regard to Kate and Aaron.
Still, doesn't change the fact that the characters on LOST are all inexplicably unwilling to tell each other anything important a lot of the time. This was especially true in the earlier seasons, and I guess it's gotten much better as of late. But every time I hear someone (other than Ben, because he's so manipulative and mysterious) refuse to answer a simple question, I cringe a bit.

I'm telling you, the point of the show is even when it's done--we're all still going to be lost.

I accidentally* read the press release for tomorrows episode.
The guest star list is very interesting for this Locke centric adventure. Very interesting.
*It was not an accident.

So without divulging too much.... can you just answer me one question.... does the guest list contain famous stars apparently trying to hitch a ride on the greatest show on television so they can say they were apart of it all?
If you answer no, I will assume that means we will be seeing the return of a former character. And by former I mean dead. Dead as a doornail.
I wonder if we will ever see Cindy again. Or the tailie kids.

Characters we know already. Several of them.
Any one of them by themselves wouldn't be too exciting, but the fact that they're all in the same episode is intriguing.
Consider yourself thoroughly teased. (That's what she said)

It's not very spoilery. It's not anyone you wouldn't expect to see.
It just reads like a season finale guest list, not a 7th episode of a season guest list typically would.

except we will see the return of two very different ("or are they?" asked in a dr. evil-like tone) african-american actors...
btw, spolier alert above.

don't do it U2! don't click! I cannot stress enough how much my LOST enjoyment has increased since I stopped reading spoilers. My LOST boners have been longer and stronger. being spoiler-free is the LOST viagra.
Even though seasons 2 and 3 weren't great, I think I made them even worse for me by reading spoilers through parts of them.

I have absolutely no desire for spoilers. Season 2 cured me of that.
I'd actually prefer to not even see the previews.

I hope they give us some direction soon. I have no idea where the show is going now that they're back on the island, and I don't know why they won't tell us what the end game is.
Knowing that Frodo was trying to destroy the ring didn't ruin the story. Give us something. I'm not even sure what the plot is now.

i'm on the road so I can't watch tonight's game even if I want to, so screw mavericks versus the milwaukee _ucks. Lost, on the other hand, is nationwide.....
....so much lost wood this morning. raging boner.

I'm proud to announce that I still remain 100 percent spoiler free for this episode (and future episodes).
I am not pitching a tent like you guys. I always let my wife benefit from the wednesday morning gift from Lost. If I didn't have to go to work on Wednesdays we would never have to go to the health club again.

significant LOST babies:

*Pierre Chang's baby could be Jin?
*Last week Ben said his mother taught him how to read but she died at childbirth. One of his pointless lies? or not?

If I was forced to choose, I would put more money on Miles being Pierre Chang's baby.
I think the 'Jin = son of a poor fisherman' is pretty well established. That's the stuff of conspiracy theorists who have even more time on their hands than I do.

the time travel concept has really made almost any storyline possible.
I have a very strong hunch that baby Aaron grows up, rebels against his parents by overeating, changes his name to Hurley, then travels back in time so that he can crash on the island and meet his real mom- and in an act of total chaos- sometimes future Hurley holds past baby Aaron...Then in act of further rebellion, escapes the island, loses the weight, dyes his hair red (you have noticed the similar hair textures, haven't you?), has a sex change, picks up an english accent, changes his name to Charlotte and then returns to the island once again.
Anybody with me?!

I guess it is safe to say the Island can raise the dead. Christian Shephard is alive and kicking.
The people on the Arija flight probably shot at Sawyer, Faraday, Charlotte and crew in the canoes.
