Yup...I'm pretty certain it's going to be done, just a matter of the specifics.

Banks is a pretty good backup PG. Humphries would be a good big body to throw around. I'll be fine with either--what is their respective contract situations?

An hour ago it was specific. You have lost all your credibility here if it doesn't work out like you said it.
It has been a tough deal to put together all along. It may still happen, but it won't be easy. You led us to believe that it was a done deal, and you either lied or were gullible.
Joke's on us, though. No blame to you.

Okay, the Dallas guy (jcldallas24 on realgm, jcl249 on db) just admitted to having made up his story, so the Humphries rumor can be disregarded.

I lost all credibility by posting a reply from another site of a proposed/rumored deal?
That seems a bit...severe.

In Singapore, they will beat you with a cane for spitting gum out on the street. So you better watch it.

I'm going to Vegas in a few weeks and the only thing I'm legitimately worried about is getting on a roof.

I think with BG's completely blatant fake news story "comfirming" Marion was on the way and us talking about for 24 hours, this trade had better go through. Else somebody has to die.

Maybe Devean George pulled another veto-move. Let's hope that's not the case.

If that's true George's veto powers have gotten outta control and must be stopped...
(I'm just picturing George as some diabolical super villain - Dr. Veto - who vetoes any and every trade made in the name of good)

Look you guys are being too hard on poor BG. I think we should just make his penance to trade me Will Forte for peanuts in our new fantasy league and forget this whole thing ever happened. Sound good?

Will Forte? That must be Matt Forte's brother that plays in the Arena Football League. I'm sure BG will give him to you without even the peanuts!

I could be wrong, but my belief is that players involved in a sign and trade must be signed for 3 years. In this case, Marion's deal can only be guaranteed for the 1st year, but thought I would point it out nonetheless.

I did not know this, but I looked it up and you are correct. That rule is to prevent a team from circumventing the three year rule for Bird rights.
Thanks for the info.

Now..let me preface this by reminding everyone that Ed Sefko is, in my opinion, the worst beat reporter of any kind I've ever seen. He is 100% useless.
However, he seems to be pretty pessimistic about this trade going down. This is kind of a throw away line at the top of a piece about Stack, and it's something Sefko would not really pay attention to, not realizing that such a line could throw Mav fans into a tizzy.
But anyway, here's what he said:
Quote:
While the Mavericks tried Tuesday to iron out details of a trade for Shawn Marion that still looks shaky at best, Jerry Stackhouse faced the reality that if this isn't the deal that sends him into free agency, it isn't far away.
