"Parker conceives of himself as a star — a max player. Extension talks between Parker and Bucks fizzled in October, and Parker will enter restricted free agency this summer. The Bucks were prepared during those October talks to offer a three-year deal worth around $54 million, according to sources familiar with the discussions. The two sides discussed other permutations — shorter deals, incentive-laden four-year deals — and the talks never narrowed to a single on-paper offer. Still: Milwaukee’s upper limit in annual salary — about $18 million per season — was clear, sources say."
Max player? Really? Dude has never even played a full season. Who is pumping these thoughts into these kids minds?

Sounds like someone else we know. With his injury history, homeboy should’ve taken the 54 million and run. I mean what’s the best case scenario for him. Say he comes back and turns into prime Big Dog Robinson, he still can’t play a lick of defense and some team offers him...4 years and 80m? Whereas worst case he truly is made of glass and is injured again before the season even ends and gets offered a vet minimum while he rehabs for another year? Take the 54m, invest wisely in low risk stuff, be set for life. It’s not that hard.

Scott Kushner: The #Pelicans are hopeful Emeka Okafor will play tonight vs Minnesota.
Dude is still in the league? I remember when Mavs fans wanted this guy like 5 years ago, but he was injured. Good for him for trying to come back after a long layoff.

Some playoff team could use Crawford. Like Minnesota? They're 4th in the West, only a half game behind San Antonio for 3rd. I don't understand why the Wolves would move Crawford, especially for Noel when they already have Karl Anthony Towns.

Another player who signed with the Timberwolves as a free agent last summer, Jamal Crawford, has publicly expressed some surprise at the limited minutes he's played this season, especially based upon his conversations with the organization before committing to a two-year deal.

KAT comment makes me wonder if you believe anyone in this league actually sees Noel as starting potential anymore. Did check Crawford's minutes, he is getting solid 6th man minutes, unsure what he has been complaining about, perhaps was promised more. Moving Crawford actually opens up the need for another guard rather than a big like Noel, so the Wolves would want a compensation there.

Not sure if 18 minutes a game is solid 6th man minutes, but for a guy on the wrong side of 35, it might do him and the Wolves a world of good come May, just check in with Andre Iguodala, that guy is sleepwalking the regular season. 6th men, Jason Terry averaged 30 a night in his heyday......but he was probably more the exception, then the rule. Using that as a guide, 24-28 is about right for a 6th man.
On another note, Thibs has long been known to ride his starters heavy, the wing spots Crawford is backing, Wiggins is averaging 36 minutes and Butler 37, which leaves 23 minutes available....given that allotment, 18 is about right. Even at the PG, with Teague and Tyus Jones..doesn't leave any time there.

Pretty sure our trade window with Cleveland just closed -- they look like they've quit on the season, probably going to blow it up this summer.

@JoshuaBRobbins: Aaron Gordon will not play tonight in Miami because of his strained hip flexor, and he also has withdrawn from the All-Star dunk contest, the team announced.
@wojespn: Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell is expected to replace Orlando’s Aaron Gordon in the dunk contest on NBA All-Star weekend, league sources tell ESPN. Gordon withdrew with a hip injury.

Feel bad that Frank has had a sore knee and the Knicks are still playing him, but go figure that fricken' out of the league a month ago Burke is playing better.

@wojespn: Brooklyn is trading Tyler Zeller to Milwaukee, league sources tell ESPN. The Nets will receive Milwaukee's Rashed Vaughn with the second-round pick.
@wojespn: Sources: Milwaukee's 2018 second-round pick to Nets is protected 31-to-47, or Milwaukee sends unprotected second in 2020 if the pick doesn't convey in 2018.
@wojespn: For Brooklyn, the key was turning Zeller into a second-round pick. Nets still trying to replenish stash of picks. Vaughn's contract simply made the deal work.

@wojespn: The NBA has fined Lakers president Magic Johnson $50K for tampering with Milwaukee's @Giannis_An34. He made public comments about him in an interview.

@RTNBA: Kristaps Porzingis goes down and clutches his knee, does not look good

@wojespn: Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis is undergoing an MRI on his left knee tonight, league source tells ESPN.

Thank God the Knicks already have 23 wins, or we'd have to add them to the group of teams we're fighting for the worst record in the leauge.
Man, they only have a handful of games left with bottom feeders. 2 games left with ORL, 1 game w/ CHI, 1 game w/ DAL, 1 game w/ SAC. Hopefully ORL can sweep those 2 remaining games with the Knicks.
Wouldn't surprise me if the Knicks don't win anymore than 27 games this year. 19 of their 27 remaining games are vs playoff teams.

Quite sad about Porzingis. It is rare for 7'1 and taller to go without such major injuries. Will be interesting to see how Boogie and KP are able to come back from that. Both of course are able to shoot threes, but are they able to stay healthy to carry their teams or not. It would make sense for Boogie to go to SAS to get some rest during games, at least with KP this injury was helped due to fatigue.
Lou could be moved after the extension.

Yeah I never understood having a guy play through injuries. I think we had a conversation in here a couple months back when Porzingis hit a wall and was openly complaining about being fatigued and people were giving him shit for it.
Why not trust your franchise guy? Or any guy for that matter. How hard is it to err on the side of caution? Knicks were chasing a non-existent spot with a banged up star. If Porzingis himself was pushing to play through injury I guess its a little different, though he doesn't strike me as that type.
Still give major props to Don Nelson, to this day, for keeping Dirk out of the WCF Spurs series after he got hurt.

I definitely questioned the notion of being fatigued, as every NBA player has gone through it. I'd never seen another player mention it was all. I'd 100% be on board with any decision to sit a guy if he mentioned fatigue during a grueling stretch. That, however, is highly doubtful to be the cause of a major injury such as an ACL in this case.

Knicks trade center Willy Hernangomez to Hornets
https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-kni...163051746.html
@ShamsCharania: Charlotte is sending its own 2020 and 2021 second-rounders to New York in Hernangomez deal.

Right? It's all Hernangomez wanted was more PT and his shot. I'm guessing they got the offer of two 2nd rounders and took it thinking he was already wanting out, and perhaps this all was agreed to prior to Porzingis' injury.

What horrible fit, Charlotte better have another move coming or else this trade doesn't make any sense at all.

No worries, more for clarification, because I agree. Strange fit for Charlotte and for Hernangomez who seemingly just wanted more PT to prove himself.

Two second rounders? Sheesh, a lot to give up for a guy drafted 35th. I know he showed promise last season, but that could easily be a fluke.

@MarkDeeksNBA: Being told that New York were happy to settle for one second-round pick for Hernangomez as recently as "a few days ago", and that they rang around regularly asking for just that. So either
a) they got two bites and a small bidding war broke out, or:
b) Charlotte got overkeen.
