So much for playing the last half of the season like a "contract year." Now he's an oft-injured headcase who will be coming off reconstructive surgery. Definitely sounds like a candidate for a one-year, vet minimum, make-good contract with somebody. (Maybe the Knicks?)

The buyout deadline is tomorrow, right? Maybe there's still time for Drew. Imagine our depth up front if we got Gooden back and Dampier returns healthy. Look out world.
Otherwise I'd imagine we're a strong contender for any other buyout players, though I don't expect much quality to be out there. No Larry Hughes, please.

I wish I did...in Vegas! Man what would those odds have been?
It just goes to show you-- no matter how good you are, if you get lazy and you think you can play defense with your hands, you WILL lose. Boston shoots 50%, and wins the rebound battle by 6, but allows 41 FTs. I'm sure Boston fans are whining about the reffing, but the Celts flat out didnt move their feet.

Man with 6'6" Chuck Hayes playing center, the Rockets are HORRID defensively. Martin is burning up the net on offense, but they are allowing 80% shooting for the HALF. I was so hoping the little Bottlerockets could work Utah for us, but they just have no defense at all.

They were 10.5 point underdogs at +400.
So a $ 100 bet would've netted you $ 400 bucks!

I thought DLord corrected himself on that. The rule is that they can't be on a roster. They don't have to clear waivers first, I don't think.

It's nice to know that the Mavs will win any tiebreaker for the #3 seed, assuming the top four are the Lakers, Mavs, Nuggets and Jazz. Division winner beats out any other tiebreaker.

Alright, so Utah won tonight. Dallas is still 3rd and Utah is 4th. They both have the same record. Can someone please explain why we're 3rd and Utah is 4th? I mean, which do they go by since Dallas and Utah belong in different divisions? Is it conference record?
Sorry if this is a very basic question. I'm a little confused right now.
Thanks!

Sorry I didn't read this before my post above. Is this the answer to my question?
Meaning, since Dallas has a better SW division record versus Utah's NW division, Dallas is 3rd and Utah is 4th (while having the same overall record)?

I thought that they changed it where the division leaders were all promised one of the top 4 spots, but that it didnt guarantee 1,2, and 3? Maybe I'm wrong-- I know that was an issue a few years ago but I thought they changed it after.

Thanks. I'm confused too.
Because currently, Dallas and Utah have the same overall record. Utah has a higher conference record but Dallas has remained on the 3rd spot. I thought that if teams had the same record, they would go by conference record (in which case Utah should be 3rd).
Anyhow, hopefully someone can clarify this for us.

A division leader tied with a non-division leader will win the tie.

Kind of Surprised to see the year Stackhouse is having, though I am happy for him, he is playing well off the bench for Milwaukee

1) Division winner (if in different divisions)
2) Head-to-head record
3) Division record (if in same division)
4) Conference record
Suppose the Lakers finish #1, with the Mavs, Jazz, and Nuggets finishing in the next three spots.
The Mavs play both the Nuggets (1-1) and the Jazz (1-2) only three times this year, so the tiebreakers will only go that far at most.
If the Mavs tie the Jazz only, the Mavs will place 3rd no matter what. Either the Nuggets have the #2 seed and the Mavs win the division tiebreaker, or the Nuggets have the #4 seed and the Mavs lose the head-to-head tiebreaker.
If the Mavs tie the Nuggets only, the Mavs will place at least 3rd. Either the Jazz have the #2 seed and the Mavs win the division tiebreaker, or the Jazz have the #4 seed, in which case the tiebreaker will be determined by the winner of the game on March 29.
In the case of a three-way tie, the Mavs will place at least 3rd, since division winners are determined before other tiebreakers, and that will place the Mavs ahead of at least one of the other two teams.
So if you're hoping the Mavs avoid the #4 spot, a tie with any team is favorable.

I just realized that the Nuggets already have the tiebreaker over the Jazz, winning the season series 3-1. So in the case of the three-way tie, the Mavs and Nuggets are the division winners, with the Jazz taking the #4 spot.
Just another reason that game on March 29 is going to be huge.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he meant that he just can't do anything about it NOW since the game is over...or no, let's not give the second incarnation of Josh Howard's "can't do anything about it" mentality the benefit. After all, he's a Sun (?!).
Good that the Lakers won. Tough, playoff-like game with two very good teams. Reaching the conference finals and actually getting out of it would be a helluva achievement.

Pau Gasol doesn't like the thuggets attitude at all and kind of calls out the refs for letting them get away with too much: http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/...h-way-too-much
Quote:
Pau Gasol had heard enough.
Too much chirping from the Birdman. Too much nonsense from Nene. Too much mouthing off from
Melo. Too many comments from Kenyon.
"They talk too much," the normally reserved Gasol said after the game. "Way too much. I don't listen to things that don't make sense. I'm a player that likes to play and that's how I talk, by me playing. Other players can't do that."
The Lakers have an enemy and its name is the Nuggets, who were 2-0 against L.A. entering Sunday's clash. Lakers fans should praise the sky above the Rocky Mountains that Denver auditioned for the part.
"I love that we don't like the team in particular," Gasol said. "I wish we didn't like any teams for that matter."
|
I think we all can understand him. I also liked the Artest celebration when he fouled out Melo, and the close up of a fed-up Melo to end the nba.com-recap: http://www.nba.com/games/20100228/DENLAL/gameinfo.html

26-4 run by the Suns. Pretty amazing stuff
I wont bet against a team that has the refs on their side. The refs have been completely lop-sided in their calls. They blew at least 3 calls since I tuned in 10 minutes ago.
Billups gets kneed in the thigh which makes him hop and they call a travel
Then Nene goes up for a dunk and Amundson's hand is in the net-- possibly contacting the ball in the cylinder and no goal tending
Then K-Mart (the dip@#$% he is) got a beautiful tip with the ball outside the cylinder and they called offensive basket interference

20 point lead, hello sweet #2 spot
And i dont care if the Thuggets got screwed by the refs, they always can go berserker style at home and that pisses me off. Carmellas defense is just pushing and shoving with the hands..

Billups shoots more undeserved FTs than anyone. The guy is basically a jump shooter and he goes to the line 7+ times a game by leaning into guys, pretending to trip, and kicking his leg out.
