WTF is Memphis smoking? Why would they send a pick (likely to be very high 30s) to the team that's getting the best player out of this deal?

What has Crittenton done except suck everywhere he's played? He's consistently been third string on every team that he's played, and is never going to be remotely close to being a starter. Daniels, OTOH, could start for at least ten NBA teams, and is now teaming with the best PG in the league.
The Grizz just got back the same pick they used in the Navarro trade! Incredible.

Nice trade for New Orleans. Daniels is a solid backup point that could play the 2 in some situations.

How do you score 33 points IN ONE QUARTER? Better yet, how do you score 33 POINTS in 1 quarter and only end the game with 45? Damn.....great achievement by Melo though. But he should've shattered 50. I guess its better late than never.

close game between the Suns/Lakers
Nash did not look happy tonight with the loss of his friend, Raja.

Were Nash and Bell close when they were in Dallas? I think more than anything the Suns are pissed off about how they're playing. You get rid of D'antoni to go for a more defensive minded team yet you get rid of Bell and Marion. Does Kerr even know what he's doing? They got the better end of the trade but i'm not sure what it does for them. Maybe the league and fans around the league should thank the Suns for being cheap enough not to want Deng or Joe Johnson. I'd hate to see them with Joe Johnson....

You sure? From what I've read, it sounded like Nash couldn't stop crying about it.

Crazy Bill Walton pointed out that the Suns have just added another guy who is more worried about getting his than about the team. Those guys are lucky they have Nash.

You have to give him until next season to recover from his microfracture.
But he is never, ever going to live up to all that hype.

I agree with jthig...you're going to have to give him at least this season and maybe most of next season before you can start to look at it. Based on his hype, will he be a bust...more than likely yes, but I think he can still be a very talented big man in this league. He is still very, very raw and he needs to catch some luck now with avoiding injuries to really help him get in a flow of learning the pro game. He seems like a good kid so I hope he can figure it all out.

It took Amare a little over two years to get his athleticism back. Even without it Oden is already rebounding at an elite level. He's 3rd in the league in rebound rate.
He was a great shot blocker in college and he should be pretty good in the league when his legs come back. The offense is questionable but his rookie scoring numbers aren't far off of Dwight Howard's.
The big question with Oden is health. If he can stay on the floor I expect him to be one of the top 3 or 4 centers in the league.

But would you agree that "one of the top 3 or 4 centers in the league" does not live up to his hype in college?
Unless the other 3 or 4 are fellow HOF centers, I guess.

Now the Kings fire Theus:
Quote:
Reggie Theus was fired as coach of the Sacramento Kings after a 6-18 start to his second season with the club.
Assistant coach Kenny Natt will take over the Kings, spokesman Troy Hanson said. Natt is Sacramento's fourth coach in less than three years.
The Kings have lost 10 of 11 to fall into last place in the Pacific Division, with only a win over the Los Angeles Lakers in the last 3 1/2 weeks. Sacramento's 24-point home loss to the New York Knicks on Saturday night — the ninth loss in 10 games at Arco Arena — was Theus' final game.
Theus is the sixth coach fired in the NBA already this season, following P.J. Carlesimo (Oklahoma City), Eddie Jordan (Washington), Sam Mitchell (Toronto), Randy Wittman (Minnesota) and Maurice Cheeks (Philadelphia), who was dismissed Saturday.

I don't think the Kings gave Theus a fair chance but I think he'll find another job. The Kings are in transition and the injuries they've had would make it hard for any coach to get more out of it.

Who would have thought after the start they had? Most of us thought they'd turn it around but crazy they're 1st in the division already. They've got a wicked schedule coming up so we'll see how they hold up.

He may not live up to the hype but I don't think he'll be far from the expectations if that makes sense. A lot of his hype was a result of being a rare true center. When you get past that he's had quite a few detractors from day one. He was never a can't miss prospect like Lebron or Shaq. He wasn't even a slam dunk to be the first pick in his draft. If he becomes a perennial All-Star center I would say that's about where he should be.

Man...I would think Boston is going to lose somewhere on that West Coast trip. They just keep finding ways to win.
I'd love to see another Atlanta/Boston 7 game series though.

The Nets lost after Utah only scored 7 in the first quarter? Is there no point guard leadership on that team or something?
