If he's physically more ready than he is mentally by the time he's medically cleared to see action in games, then Frisco would make a ton of basketball sense (and from Donnie's perspective, it'd make good business sense as well, I'd bet). If his reads and reactions are up to snuff, though, I think you go ahead and send him out there with Dirk and the gang. Still, I'd be inclined to agree that the former scenario is the more likely one given the amount of time he's missed.

I know Booby's timetable is at 2-3 weeks but are they targeting a specific game by any chance? can he make it back into the lineup during the MIA-ORL back to back? or is he coming back around TOR, SA time?

even when he does come back, if we're still doing as good as we are now, would carlisle even want to mess up the chemistry by starting him?

There is one concern in my head: Dallas missed an important offensive option last season to stop scoring droughts. If your jump shot isn't falling, attack the rim! This has been widely masked this season by the defensive improvements. Part of that is they didn't need to cut into a big deficit. Average opponents biggest lead is 6.9 (ranked 4th in the NBA). They never trailed by more than 13 (best in NBA). Come playoff time you will have to deal with such scenarios and Roddy is the player to fill this spot and he needs playing time to be ready.
I appreciate everything Stevenson has brought to the success in a starters role, but he is more a defensive roleplayer (like Q Ross should have been last season).

You don't trade away a project player like that, get serious. His potential is way higher than his current trade value. He was top 5 lottery talent falling in our lap at 25.

I know he's been out of the boot so obviously he's getting better. Hopefully they will allow him to get back to full contact practice. I just wish we had more updates on the kid ;/

I know, but if he's been out of the boot this long and he's allowed to jump - should be the next logical conclusion :P
At least I hope so

He hasn't been cleared to run or jump at all. He'll be given clearance to run/jump in a controlled environment first, than practice if there is no setback.

I think they are over-cautious with him. But there is no need to rush him back when you are riding a 12-game streak. It is way more important that he will be healthy and ready to go come playoff time. He'll need much playing time before that, but have no worries that this will be a problem ... at least not because of the injury.

He talked about Roddy like he'll be back eventually, so the notion of missing all year should be squashed.

Some players lose a bit of their quickness after a broken foot and never get it back. I hope to god that's not the case with Roddy.

"Eventually" is so ambiguous! Can we atleast get a "soon", "not in a while", "much later"??
Can you ask what they are looking to see? I know we're not looking to get medical terms but is the foot healed and they want him to strengthen it or is the bone still not right?

Obviously, the bone is healed, he's out of the boots. Also, i don't think he'll lose any speed, it's not a really serious injury, despite the recovery time. Do we have any info on if and how he strengthened his upper body during the last few months?

I am predicting a trade involving Roddy for somebody by the deadline. I would be very surprised if he plays another game in a Maverick uniform, just a hunch.

It's like an intuition. For example, a cop has a hunch about where the criminal hiding. I learned that expression from Supernatural.

So it wasnt just the 2-3 months they told after the surgery.
They removed and moved back the walking boot.
And now he is since 2-3 weeks out of the boot and there is still no news or freaking update that he has the permission to jump or run...
I dont like this anymore...

It is starting to get late in the game once January arrives. Lets hope he's back by then...

Prediction: the moment we hear news that Roddy will be practicing and playing at a certain date, there will be a bunch of posts of "I hope he is not returning to play too soon, maybe he should wait until next year".
