I don't see that rumor, but it's interesting.
I assume we'd be trading away 18 for Harris so Nets could offer Rockets more?
6'6" dude. Was pretty solid defensively while hitting 43% from three. Not a physical specimen, but he's smart like Rick likes.

Hi, welcome to the boards!
Try posting links to your sources from now on so people don't get confused. And it's easy to fall into the false rumor trap, not that I'm saying this happened.

This rumor isn't much better. NO way I'd trade the 18th pick for Lou Williams unless it was a lot more than that.

Yeah, for sure. They had Walker. Done deal. And then Ainge Ainged.

Yeah I'm honestly not seeing. Its not that I wouldn't want him on my team if we could get him for a 2nd rounder sure. But if I'm actually trading the little assets I have? I can't do it. He's not going to put my team over the hump.

Yeah I don't know if I feel as highly about him as you do. My issue is that he's wasted here with a ball dominant guard in Luka. Offensively I want guys around Luka who don't need the ball in their hands. You don't trade for Rubio and expect him to not have the ball in his hands.

Anyone interested in Lou Williams or Patrick Beverly? Those guys will be up for grabs in a 3-way if Paul goes to LAC.

Those guys fit the bill of I'd like them on my team but for the right price. I'd more so prefer Lou Williams. I think Lou is criminally underrated.

It would be much easier to win with the Clippers though. I think at this point in Paul's career he wants it to be easier than harder.

Plus, if teams are lining up for the 18th pick, then you should be able to get a really good if not great package.
Then again, if everyone wants that pick, maybe you should consider why?

Everyone wants the pick to improve their offers to a few teams for a few players that everyone is competing for in trade.
For example, the reason Lou Williams is floated is because LAC needs to find someway to get a pick to trade for Chris Paul. This is why we keep seeing rumors of three way deals that include Dallas.
Ditto for the Harden situation, the Holiday situation and maybe the Oladipo situation. Teams are desperately trying to gather enough ammo to make those deals.

Again, these guys buying houses here means nothing in regards to what team they will play for. It may mean a little more in his case because he isn't exactly making that much.
I have never been sure WCS was going to opt in.

I agree about the finances, but it was so recent, and right before an interview in which he GUSHED about how much he loves being here and playing for Carlisle.

Unless he's opting out to get an EXTENSION, I still can't see it, personally.
It would be a bad move on his part to opt out.

Yea, idk maybe they're working on something. I thought last year Rick missed too many chances to give WCS minutes and eventually kinda lost him. Won't be long until we find out.

Lots of people thought that, but from his own mouth, we know that's not true.
He has been wearing Mavs gear in publicly posted workouts non-stop.
He's in no position to do better financially (I don't believe).
It's not adding up.

Very good news. We know, once and for all, that he had a meniscus REPAIR, and not a partial REMOVAL.
Long term, this is wonderful news.

Yeah that’s what I’d be wondering. Why is everyone coveting that pick? There seems to be good draft value there.

Yeah, long term it is good. Short term though, oof. Recovery time is 3-6 months and he apparently had the surgery on October 9th. Let's just hope his recovery is much closer to the 3 months than the 6, because if it's 6, that means he's not back until May and he's basically missed the entire season.

That sucks, no disagreement.
But, if we're being real, we should all realize the Mavs have almost no chance to win the championship this season, right?
It's not a serious injury, and they're taking a long term view, which I find encouraging.
Would be nice to count WCS among those with an opportunity to pick up the slack in the meantime, though. THAT is what I'm freaking out about.

Still think it's odd that he waited 7 weeks to get the surgery. I know people defend it saying he might not need surgery, but come on, this is KP. You're not risking another knee injury by NOT having the surgery.

You're also risking multiple injuries and diminished ability by having the surgery. If not having surgery is an option, that is ALWAYS the far, far better option.
It is odd, but we don't actually know why he didn't get the surgery. For all we know, it was his doctors' orders. We know the initial wait was the hope that he wouldn't need the surgery, but after that it could have been that he needed to wait before he COULD have the surgery. My understanding is that you generally can't have that surgery right away. Perhaps the parts of the tissue that can heal need time to do so before the other parts can be repaired? I have no idea.

Yeah, I firmly believe this is the best possible way to rebuild a franchise when your title window has closed. Trade all your top players and load up on draft picks.
That Russ-CP3 trade might go down as one of the all-time swindles, along with the Celtics-Nets trade a few years back. Why the F Houston ever thought Russ was worth trading their entire future for, I have NO idea. They gave everything they had and more because they apparently thought Russ's value was so much higher than CP3's. Now look where those players are. CP3's stock is higher than it's been in years, and Russ is demanding a trade out of Houston- and seemingly nobody is interested.

The doctors are presumably the ones saying it. Not me.
EDIT- For what it's worth, I HIGHLY doubt he'll be back that soon. I'm betting it will be at least another month.

Championship? No. Improving and making some noise in the western conference? Hell yes. And that is absolutely what we should all want. Especially if we're serious about landing a big fish in free agency next summer.

Can't argue with that, which is why I'm not freaking out, because I view this news from the angle that it's the most likely way he's healthy and playing well when the playoffs get here.
If he misses the PLAYOFFS two years in a row, I'll be joining team "the sky is falling."
