Petitte did a respectable job IMO, i hope his good half will motivate Tucker to perform well in the 2nd half.

Petitte did fairly well. I hope Tucker plays somewhere else this year.
Man that 49ers story is just heartbreaking. Poor kid.

Crayton might have just moved up the ladder making that catch with the defender having a hand right on/near the ball. Good throw...better catch.

Even though that was incomplete...only a Cowboy could have caught that. Even Madden is saying Romo should be the #2.

At this point, I don't disagree. I think Henson looked better in the third, but that's one small step. Romo looks comfortable. He doesn't always make the throws, but he at least looks like he trusts that he can.

Thornton in the right place..didn't make the play, but a linebacker in the right place in coverage is a nice change compared to last year.

yeah, I like Romo's body language. After that incompletion, he was definitely pissed. I like players that demand perfection of themselves.

Can definitely see why Parcells likes Beriault so much. See how that works, Jacob? Play hurt, make an impression.

RE:Cowboys offseason Thread
I feel better after this game. Bledsoe orchestrated a TD-scoring drive. Ware looked fantastic. Beriault showed really nice potential. The D seemed to settle down after that first Seahawks scoring drive. I think Petitte & Cortez certainly helped themselves by not sucking. Didn't notice Tucker, which I think is a good thing. And Henson made the backup picture crystal clear. We learned some stuff.

RE: Cowboys offseason Thread
It sure is easy for people here to tell someone else to play hurt when we don't know all of the facts. I've played football when I was hurt...many of you probably have too, but not at this level. Give the guy a break. If he sucks as a player it is one thing but ragging on him for notplaying hurt is patently unfair.

I love our running back situation too. Jones backed by A-Train is a nice set up. To underscore how good it is right now just look to Arizona who just released Troy "Spare me to death" Hambrick tonight.

RE: Cowboys offseason Thread
Sorry I missed the fun of the gameday thread. But a few after-the-fact observations:
--I honestly will be a little surprised if Henson makes the team. No, he is not terrible. Yes, I'm sure he has some potential. But despite Romo's apparent moxie and grasp of the offense, I don't think that either of those guys can be counted on to start if Bledsoe goes down. I believe they will sign Vinny to be the #2 (probably #3 for the first two or three weeks) and keep Romo as the QB of the future. I believe that Bill likes this team a whole lot, and that he is a lot more concerned about the present than about the future. I just have a feeling that he won't put this team in the position of suffering through an incompetent starter if Bledsoe goes down.
The one thing that could keep Henson here is if Romo is doing a little better than I think. You watch him play, and you can see that there are some little things that he does very well. Even the play action. It looks far more crisp with Romo than it does with Henson. But still, he's very young. This will be interesting to watch.
Well, Bill said he wanted "catalytic" players on defense, and so far it looks like he is getting it. Wow, that Ware kid. Wow. But Kalen Thornton also availed himself nicely. Man, this looks like a team that will send wave after wave of quality defenders at you.
I thought the defense was strong, for two games in a row now. For the most part, we appear to be very, vey difficult to run the ball against. That is so, so key. And don't forget: Ferguson and Spears have yet to see game action. We're going to have a really stout front seven.
I liked some of the hits Keith Davis delivered back there, but I still worry about this position. Reese doesn't appear to be quite the player he was when he was younger. Beriault did some nice things tonight, to be sure, but his best days are probably a couple years at least down the road. He'll be a nice special teams player and situational defensive player, but I don't look for him to be contributing much at safety this year.
It looks like all our corners can tackle pretty well. This is good. More important than you might think.
Very few penalties tonight. Certainly a step in the right direction.
I don't think we know anything yet about the offense as a whole. Almost nothing, anyway. We do apparently have a number of backs who can get the job done, and it was certainly nice to see Crayton making some plays. But we're going to have to wait a bit--probably until opening day--to get a grasp of where this team is offensively. As a unit, anyway.
I do have a hunch that Pettiti wins the starting RT job. I don't necessarily feel good about that, although I do like the kid. But I'm optimistic.
Cortez the Killer showed up nicely. At least one short kickoff, but also one deep in the end zone that was downed. I'm pretty sure he wins the job, after tonight. And yes, Doc, I'll be picking him up off waivers (if no one else does).
Oh the whole, nice game tonight. The team flashed some potential. And I think the small number of penalties is a very, very good sign. Personally, I would have liked to have seen Thompson run the ball a bit, but I don't think it matters, as I think he's already made the team as it is. It was nice to see Barber make a couple nice plays.
On a side note: wasn't it cool to see footage from an Irving high school game played on Monday Night Football.
One last note: Madden never was the same after he broke with Summerall.

I have no doubt that Parcells has Vinny on speed dial but Jerry is having no parts of it…this thing has showdown written all over it. I want to embrace Romo but then he goes and does something stupid like throwing off of his back foot to avoid the rush.

Before out defense starts breaking it’s arm to pat itself on the back I’d like to remind them that they made Matt Hallelbeck look like the 2nd coming of Joe Montana.

He looked much better tonight. I like the pick but I don’t like the fact that we have to put him out there so soon. You know who sucked tonight…Ben Knoll…that guy was in the backfield more then Julius Jones.

They had the Tyson Thompson package and they were using it hell or high water…I think that’s why Madden was irritated when Bill didn’t put him in the game.
I’m really liking Crayton as the no.3 receiver. He fights for the ball and he fights for yards. Always good to see a local kid make good…of course he’s beating out another local kid.

Dang........got Rogers, Cundiff, and Barnes..... as well as Merritt and Reese. I knew that Rogers was cut when they announced his surgery. I guess no real surprises though. Cundiff's injury was really at the wrong time.

someone talk to me about Patrick Crayton....I just heard he may be our #3 WR....what has he done (beside not be lifeless like Morgan) to earn the spot??

RE: Cowboys offseason Thread
He has tremendous hands, probably the best on the team. He has matured a great deal in the past year, and he appears to have the stuff that "professionals" are made of. I don't know all the details, but if Bill likes him that much then he probably is doing well in the blocking game, too.
I'm not too positive about his speed, but he does appear to have some big-play ability. Witness the long touchdown catch to seal the Redskins game last year.
At this point, it's probably fair to say that he has more upside than Morgan does. (If Morgan has any at all.)

I like the old style uni's myself. It's the only positive thing I have seen thus far.
The Cowboy offense sucks balls. McBrayer is going to be the NFL punter of the year. Holy cow.
