GS signing Moore is a decent move for them. Moore will be a solid 3rd string center. He should get decent minutes with Biedrins in foul trouble more often than not.

Duncan is a good player. But we aren't talking about his career. We are talking 2008-2009. We are talking about 2009-2010. And Dirk is better. Dirk has been better than Duncan for the last 5 years in fact.

Five years? Let's slow down on that.

Dirk has been better since the start of the 2004 season.

I don't know if I can agree with that. The past couple of years they've both had PER's of around 24 and Duncan is clearly the better defender.

Dirk might have the edge this year and in the next few years but Duncan's career speaks for itself.

It's not like PER is perfect. A guy can have certain stats one year... then have the exact same stats the next year, and not have the exact same PER because one year his team may have played at a faster pace. Or he may have played 1 more minute a game, etc.
And it's not like your opinion has to be the same as mine either.

Actually I would call that one of PER's strengths. You should adjust for pace and minutes.

The stat isn't a strength when you are comparing two players who are relatively close in stature.

8. Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas - For all the grief he catches for often coming up short in key situations, Nowitzki is a lock Hall-of-Famer who has averaged 20 points and eight rebounds as the league's best shooting power forward for 10 straight years. Skipping the European Championships may have been a bummer, but should help lengthen his shelf life in what should be a big season for his Mavericks.

Yeah, I don't get the Bosh love. He's basically Dirk minus the team success and balls-out shooting.

plus the inside game plus the defense. I can see where Bosh is listed above Dirk. I myself would rather have Dirk because I believe he is more of a franchise player, harder to defend, and much more clutch than Bosh is.

Ok people. Hope you're all up because I have another one fresh out the oven.
Ranking the Top 20 rookies going into the season and this one surprised me.
Check out number 9 and number 20

Took a look at the top SF list as well, kind of surprised to see Josh Howard ranked above Marion, and both of them ranked above the "considered" list of:
Luol Deng, Wilson Chandler, Corey Maggette, Grant Hill, Shane Battier, Andrei Kirilenko, Peja Stojakovic, Travis Outlaw, Ryan Gomes, Andres Nocioni, Nicolas Batum, Quentin Richardson, Matt Barnes, Jamario Moon, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Bobby Simmons, James Posey, Michael Finley, Kyle Korver, Rasual Butler.

Why would anyone from that considered list be put above Howard/Marion? Especially Wilson Chandler?

Not that I personally believe that some of them should be above, but the way that some people worship AK47 (and Butler, in other cities) you would think that they'd be just under LeBron.

If somebody ranked Batum above Howard or Marion I might have to burn down the internet.

Maybe AK or Deng but the rest I can't see how they'd even be close to Marion/JHo.

I think that list is about current performances, in which case I can see Bosh around Dirk but not above... and Duncan being behind, the author makes no case for Duncan to be ahead of either Dirk or Bosh even stating Duncan's probable dip to around 19 and 10 this season.
Bosh has just been such a disappointment in Toronto (and it's not just the FO's fault, he had some serious talent around him in previous seasons)... and I get to watch a lot of Raptors games, he's just not a superstar I want leading a team. I'd take Dirk ten times out of ten.

Bruce Bowen is holding a press conference at his wifes spa tomorrow at 2 pm. Most Spurs fans assume he's announcing his retirement.
I have to say I'm surprised. I thought he might rejoin the Spurs mid season and make another playoff run.
I guess we'll see.

It's official. Bowen is retiring. Sounds like he'll be going into broadcasting. He's auditioned for ESPN earlier in the week and has something in the works with TNT. Might do some stuff locally as well.

Bowen was pretty ineffective last season so it isn't surprising. He was a major offensive liability once that corner three of his stopped going in.

He's 38 years old. He had a solid career and was instrumental in some of the championships they won. He's going out a winner and he sounds content and happy with his decision.

Wolves go after Sessions because they want another pg....so why they actually dumped the steal Lawson to the Nuggets before the Rubio situation was clear?
