He gave up a home run to the first batter he faced. He looked a little jittery, walking four. But he got some good strikeouts and never backed down. While it wasn't a mind-blowing performance, I was encouraged by it. It was better than what Harden would have provided.

I really like the way Vlad runs those bases after that grand slam, and the celebration at the plate.
It's business. He's been there before. I like that.
Unlike every single NFL player, who are douches.

See I actually feel this way about tonight's game. Weaver has been really, really good and the Angels are not going to be chasing after CJ's newfound nibbling style.
BTW I'm officially very concerned about CJ. I think we're headed toward a bit of an implosion.

I hope for Vladdy to get a 3 yr. extension
MY is batting nearly .320 and isn't even in the top 2 on the team - and we are nearly to the AS break.
If this team can get the 1st baseman to catch fire -- I don't care if it is Smoak or Chris or even if they trade for someone else -- but this team gets scary good.
<edit>
But yes, if you get an Atl Tex like deal, you move him.

Well, if a Braves/Tex-like steal is in order, I can't completely agree with that - but minus an overall team raping, yeah, don't trade him.
Our time is now - that is the phrase and the truth, but if you can get a coup like that (we got arguably the best closer in baseball, all-star capable SS, frustrating C with potential, and #5/6 starter) you do it every single time for a 35 year old guy with injury concerns - even one contending for a triple crown this year.
I am as high as you are on him, but man, there is crazy value there if we want to sell. If you can get 2+ stud prospects in areas of need you have to consider it. Maybe you don't pull the trigger, but you have to strongly consider it.

This is dumbfounding.

Terrible trade. Molina is marginally better than the Treanor/Ramirez combo we're rolling out there now. Main is not an elite prospect, and overlooked a bit because of the overall depth, but still is young and promising.

Where did you read he was the one?
I have seen his name on a list of several names, but nothing definitive.

It was reported by Jim Callis about 40 minutes ago, and re-reported by Newberg and others.

Just read the (un)official word.
Wow. Just WOW
After all the promotion of Main -- this is a little hard to believe.
I guess this is what happens when ownership is in such a mess.

Well, to be fair, Main has had major physical set backs over the last year.
But still, he's a legitimate prospect, and to trade that way for Benji Molina is just so, so desperate.
It's also a pretty clear signal that other moves are coming. Should be interesting.

This game was just like on Tuesday...lose by one run and in both we loaded the bases in the 8th inning and couldn't produce the tying run.

On the molina/main trade(ray is worthless) Im not a big fan of it because ive always liked main but i can see why we did it. I think main could come back and bite us but i dont think hed have made the 40 after next year so hed have been a rule 5 possibility.

Yup. I expected it to be one of those where he plants with an inch or two of space between 2nd and his foot. But dragging your foot off the bag to gather yourself to throw? Terrible call.
Still, we couldn't capitalize. 1 of 3 isn't the end of the world, but with a timely hit or two it could have been a sweep. All games were close. I guess sometimes, close games just don't go your way but it would be nice to see the Rangers find a way to win one of those two losses.

He's a pitcher with upside, but when you step back and look at the Rangers system as a whole, they have about two dozen pitchers with upside. So in that regards, he a minor loss to the system. Too much to give up? I think he was, but that's why the Rangers have the farm system they do.

hell. I went to see Toy Story 3 tonight and I just got back. I had figured they'd just postpone the game. But out of curiosity I turned the TV on and did so just in time to see the bottom of the 9th start. That sucks.

Yes it is. Keep your damn foot on the base. The rulebook is clear on what's an out and what isn't, and I assure you it requires more than a mere formality in catching the ball in the general vicinity of the base.

Nice, got a free Rangers cap at the game tonight. Pretty sweet.
Also, I'm now 7-1 on the season, and 7 in a row. Why do I even leave the ballpark? It's clear that they love playing for me. lol

All Star rosters were released: Hamilton and Guerrero are starters. Feliz, Kinsler, and Andrus are reserves. It sucks that Young didn't make it. The AL needs him.
