LOL, nothing like playing the Astros to get out of a slump. A season sweep of them would be oh so sweet.

I was at the game. salty was the rangers best player tonight. AMAZING defensively and a homer. easy to see why everyones been so high on him at various times. The young to kinsler to davis dp was a heck of a play. The astros suck at life. Fulchino tried to throw a bp ball that made it to the warning track to a little kid but couldnt get it over the wall. TWICE! It was hilarious. And btw the astros may be the worst bp hitting team ever.

Is reality setting in?
The Angels owned the Giants, and we got beat by the Dodgers.
Tonight we're getting owned by the Giants and the Angels are tied late with the Dodgers.

I don't know if it is reality, or just the Rangers going through the injury stuff, and the Angels finally getting better.
Remember: It is next year that everyone is looking towards anyway.
Holland, Harrison, and McCarthy should all be better next year.

So what are Rangers needs in trade deadline? Maybe a hitter around 200, 38 year old woman beater and former steriod user? No seriously what is your needs?

a solid starting pitcher would be great. or a good hitter with good OPS.

Scott Hairston may be available he is going to come off the DL and if he continues to hit there will be a market for him, he can play CF and LF

This is a season about progress...its a process and as a result the team will have some down times, as is the current case.
That being said, the hitting has been woeful!!! I wonder if anyone will ever challenge the "Greatness" of the Ranger Rudy Jaramillo as the hitting coach? Strikeouts have been a problem of the Rangers for nearly as long if not longer than quality pitching.
We now see a trend that has been pretty common throughout the season so far...some above average if not even great pitching, followed by some seriously impatient and for the most part extreme poor pitch selection. It's as if these guys are unable to actually read a pitch, but rather just go up there swinging at everything.
On the positive side, Justin Smoak was back in the line-up after 3 weeks out (Minors) and he hit 2 HR's and a Triple...unfortunately it was off of a young 19 year old pitcher...but at least Smoak is back after his muscle injury.
The future still looks bright...as for now, we get to enjoy the journey if you will, the process of seeing this organization/team grow into a genuine contender.

I would really appreciate it if y'all took a look at my Examiner page. I finished my first article last night, and it is Ranger-related. I don't really care if you even read anything, I just need the hits! lol

Davis really needs to have a quota on the amount of 2strike swings he can take... in a season.

I've about had it with Davis. Look, I want him to do well and return to his 08 form, but its been several months and he hasn't. I think the only option is to send him down and see if he can regain confidence and relearn how to hit fastballs.

guys this is still going to be an up and down team. Everyones worried about davis but kinsler is scaring me alot more. Im not all that concerned with davis because whatever happens this season is just gravy. The focus is the next 5 or 6 years after this year and we have the best first base prospect in baseball so even though i like chris and hope he comes around, we have a replacement if he doesnt work out. Kinsler looked like he had turned a corner last year because he finally hit on the road and he finally hit right handed pitching. This year hes back to raking at home and against lefties but sucking against righties and on the road. I know hes starting to come around again but we need him to be a 3 or 4 win above replacement player over the next several years at the very least for this team to be as good as it can be.

and btw im surprised no ones mentioned feliz moving to the bullpen in triple a. Id say that means he'll be here in about a week. 2 at the most. IF FF stays healthy thats a pretty wicked set up closer combo with feliz and cj setting up(and cj has been very very good since the first couple of weeks) and FF closing. I think bmac will end up in the pen when he comes back too and i think our bullpen could go from a big weakness to a strength in a hurry.

CJ is demanding a little respect around here, I'd say. That dude is bringing it. I felt confident he'd return to form after being hurt last year, and while I did waiver earlier in the season, I'm happy he's proved all the haters (ocelot) wrong (so far).

I don't know why but I enjoyed seeing Padilla lay down that bunt last night. I was sorry that didn't help score a run.
I've been to that ball park in downtown Phoenix. Real nice place...or...it was 10 years ago. I saw McGwire hit a home run there...freaking ball went up into a restaurant in the back of the place or something. At the time I didn't notice the needle hanging from his left buttock.

Chris Davis with the MONSTER game tonight. Two singles, a double, and the go ahead HR in the 12th inning.

Are we playing Let's Make a Deal?
nah, actually we have Michael Young at 3rd and we have about 5-6 OFs we rotate as starters every game. So we are definitely set at those positions, same with catcher.

Nice to see us finish that game off last night...but today I'm wiped out.
NBA Draft and an extra-inning baseball game that went late into the night.
Let's hope that bats are more than a one game wonder.

uh you realize the reverse of that is what happened earlier this year right? CJ was great two years ago was hurt last year and struggled in april this year. He has a 2.67 era for the full season this year(INCLUDING his god awful april) Since may 1, CJ has given up 2 er in 20 and 2/3 innings for a sub 1 era. If you wanna complain when he sucks thats fine but give the man credit when he dominates. And thats in a 20 game span btw not just 4.
