Mack Brown is great at one thing... Recruiting.

Congrats to Vince though for making it a reality...

Pete Carroll coached himself out of a win tonight. Failing on 2 4th down conversion attempts, one which would have given them 3 points, was USC's down fall.
...that and VY/Reggie Bush's lateral.

doc, i have to admit that i thought it might be over for Texas when they got down 12. I knew Vince was capable of leading a comeback (he's done it all career long), but I didn't know if the defense was going to give him a chance. But props to the defense for finally coming up with a key stop.
Congrats to UT fans. Your team has been a treat to watch this year, especially Vince Young. He's an incredible football player.

If you want to talk about coaching downfalls, there were mistakes on both sides.

By the way, that Michael Huff guy wouldn't look too bad in a Cowboy uniform considering our need for a safety...

Can't quite put the ones early on the same level as the late ones however imo, as you can get over those, but that last one was a killer.

The VY lateral probably wasn't going to be a huge deal since it was likely that UT would have scored a TD anyways...
The Bush lateral was huge, but so was UT's unforced fumble while in USC's territory that also took points off the board.

I thought that USC going for it on 4th was an obvious choice for USC knowing Pete Carrell ...especially considering how dominant USC had been at moving the ball. In college football, 2 minutes with 2-3 timeouts, that was more than enough time for VY and UT to go 80 yards if need be.

I didn't say anything about VY's lateral. I was saying VY, combined with Reggie Bush's lateral, were also huge factors.

Get out of here Vince...you did what you came to do now go make that money!!!
Reggie Bush, you have the Hiesman but the country saw who the best player in the nation was. In fact, you look kinda average when you play a defense with some speed...good luck behind that Texans line...

I don't see the big deal with the call considering how dominant USC had been offensively. A first down ends the game... A punt probably only gives the Horns 20-25 more yards to travel...
I wasn't shocked by the call and I don't see a reason to jump on USC's head coach for it either... considering that they probably felt that giving the ball back to UT on the 20 wasn't a good option at all...that taking the risk on getting the first down was more than worth it...

Average? The man had 80 yards rushing and 94 yards receiving. Are those VY type numbers? No. But then again, he didn't have the ball in his hands EVERY offensive play, did he?
With that said...VY > RB.

First of all, the whole KNEE/VY LATERAL thing is equal to the MISSED INTERCEPTION that went to the favor of USC... That led to 3 points that would have NEVER happened while Texas scored 7 on the lateral; however, Texas would have scored anyway... How could you question that after all knowing how VY played?

I would have punted it, but surely if he'd made it, it would have been ballgame.
No more negative, unless it targeted at Leinart.

Who the hell is questioning it?
As far as that "missed" interception...that was about as much as an interception as the catch Charles made where he fumbled.

Yeah..and the announcers were STILL in Reggie Bush's jock the entire game..
"...that should be the new Heisman pose blah blah blah...."
Congrats to Texas. I have to admit, my sports pants were down around my ankles when they got behind 12...but I probably woke up the neighbors when Vince brought scored that last TD.

My reaction is the opposite. My sports britches were up when they were down double digits... but now they're down around my ankles.

No need to put "missed" in quotes, like it wasn't a missed interception. It was a missed interception...period. Terrible call!
I agree about the fumble though. That went in to UT's favor.

94 yards is impressive but he looked average running the ball. The one he broke was when White wore the defense down. He may be the most overrated back in the last ten years. Peterson, and maybe white, will be a better pro.

I guess UT could mention how the play clock was on zero on the play in which USC scored their final TD.
..my point is that it was SOOO close ..too close to tell. Just like the 'fumble' that you're referring to. In live speed, you can't tell whether or not it was a catch. Obviously it's going to look like a catch and fumble in slow motion, but it was impossible to tell at live speed. And with a play like that, you have to look at it in live speed.

Did you see Vince strike the Hiesman pose with the crystal national championship trophy...that's all that needs to be said.
