I just want to say I'm going to be pissed if we don't get something of value for Bogut, even if it's just a higher 2nd-rounder or a pair of mediocre 2nd-rounders. You have to believe there's at least a market for him as a quality backup center on a contender or quasi-contender.

Wouldn't shock me if he's re-signed when he's fully healthy. I think he's considerably better than Yogi.

Edit- I should mention this is a year old. Might have been posted before. I tried finding a newer one but nothing.
Really more of a NBA article. The maverick part is as follows.
Quote:
10. Dallas Mavericks – 2.54
-Mark Followill (play by play)
-Derek Harper (analyst)
-Jeff Wade (analyst)
Most popular grade: A (34.84% of voters)
Analysis: Followill, Harper and Wade reap the rewards of perfecting the three-man booth juggling act. Humor is a plus with this group. Followill’s call when Salah Mejri blocked Kevin Durant last weekend was representative of the crew’s good, clean fun.
Reader comments: “As far as the Mavs broadcast goes, Mark Followill is the only reason it gets a moderate grade. Derek Harper is almost at a level of incoherance and stupidity as Phil Simms and then Jeff “Skin” Wade is a failed attempt to appeal to a younger demographic” -iamspeters

To the surprise of absolutely no1... Rockets are by far the worst.

Reader comment sounds like average Rockets fan.
I like how Nets are really up there. I would not necessarily consider them better than Mavs because their lack of entertaining value when broadcasting, but they are quite neutral and give good comments. I have not had chance to follow as many other team's broadcasters this season because streams are focused on Fox Sports, so Mavs have their regular crew always covered. Sometimes I feel like I am missing out... Not during LAC or HOU games though.

I like NY as well, they are almost too critical with their own guys However some of what makes them is the known voice of Mike Breen. Also agree on Sac and Mil in the top five.
SA at 18 is a joke. I like what they do as a basketball team, but their announcers are flat out awful. Rockets at 30, lol. Fuck them.

Just a reminder:
Farrell/Curry/Matthews/Barnes/Dirk is the 6th best 5-man unit in the league
Williams/Matthews/DFS/Barnes/Dirk is the single worst 5-man unit in the entire league among all 30 teams.

Sam Amick: So Quincy Acy, after 16 games w/ Legends, celebrated his Brooklyn deal by..giving $250 gift cards to D-League teammates & shoes to all staff – via Twitter sam_amick
That's a nice gesture considering he wasn't here long. Makes me wish we could have held onto him, but oh well. Best of luck to him with his new team!

Great character high-energy guy that I would have liked to see make it on this team but fortunately for us there were some other players at his position that took their games to much higher than expected levels.

I seem to remember he was waived simply because old guards were all injured and Mavs wanted to create a roster spot for substitute guard player. Another reason why Mavs frontline is lacking of depth and why old players should be looked to be moved.

Honestly thought Crowder was the worst player on the floor for the Celtics starters last night, just barely behind Horford who couldn't take advantage of a smaller Barnes on him. And outside of Jarebko was maybe the worst significant minutes player for them last night. I like Crowder and he was obviously capable of more than standing in a corner as he said immediately after being traded. But the best thing going for him imo is his team friendly contract. I'm not sure his 3pt shot is a trend or a blip yet. And we basically have 2 young guys competing for his role in DFS and Simba. I think this was RC being respectful of a guy you could label "a RC guy".
Edit-
Also that writer really sensationalized this at the top of the article saying the trade "boiled down" to Crowder for Rondo. Which is ridiculous, Wright was the headliner along with the 1st. Jameer and Crowder were thrown in as merely assets. I think Nelson ended up being worth nothing to them but Wright was traded for a protected 1st. So it was really 2 firsts(after trading Wright) and Crowder for that POS Rondo.

Everybody except for the Celtics have expressed regret over that trade -- Cuban, Carlisle, Dirk, especially Rondo (obviously, since he wasn't on board with it from the get-go)... Definitely not one of the better trades our FO has made.

Probably 2nd worst in Mavs history imo.
Dale Ellis for Al Wood has to go down as the worst in Mavs history and maybe the NBA as a whole.

“We are tanking. People don’t get it. We are playing our youngs. How do you tank? You play your young players. Who are we not playing?”, Cuban said. “We are playing our young guys a lot. They are getting better a lot.”

And yet... I really don't think any of us believes that if the roster stays as is that the "youngs" continue to see bigger minutes once JJ is back and "almost all star level" deron williams is off his restriction. Oh and Simba says "hi".
Quote:
I don’t see us going after the big fish this summer. I think everything is changing. Too much money to stay with your incumbent team. I’d almost rather be a team with a ton of cap room into the regular season to take players off people’s hands. If I am below the salary floor, we just pay that money to existing players. Means everybody on the roster gets more.
|
Wait... so after 6 years of using the same blueprint all it took was a CBA change for Cuban to stop rolling out the same blueprint. Well it's over... hopefully.
Quote:
As far was looking at players who could be targets this coming summer, “I’m watching college games. I’ve never watched a college game other than Indiana prior to the Final Four in 17 years,” Cuban said.

So... There goes Donnie and RC making the pick......

In regards to Simba, he plays the same position as DFS, Barnes, and Wes. DFS and Wes are both young players and as Cuban stated Wes sets the tone for this team. Simply aren't enough minutes to go around.

I agree and disagree. We play super small and put Wes at the 3 a lot. If we were really tanking by playing young players I think Simba would play some over Harris/dwill/jj. Harris is a winner and despite what the box score says any night he just makes plays that help us win every game it seems. And once JJ and Dwill are off restrictions I expect yogi and DFS to see even less minutes. I guess I should amend my statement to something like "I'll believe it when the team is healthy and I see it." As of now I really think some of these minutes are only going to the young players out of necessity from injuries.

We really should be going with Yogi and Curry at the PG position, Wes at the SG, and give playing time to DFS and JA at SF. Only bring in DWill/DH at the PG/SG when Rick needs to pull off Yogi/Curry to have a short chat and then put them back in. I love JJB and he will always be a die hard Mavs in my book, but he's got decent trade value and he's a duplicate of Yogi.

I don't think Curry has been playing PG for us. He is usually at the 2.

Yogi has been named WC rookie of the month:
http://global.nba.com/news/76ers-dar...bacom:homepage
Quote:
Ferrell, who was not selected in NBA Draft 2016 presented by State Farm, paced all Western Conference rookies in scoring (12.0 ppg), assists (4.7 apg) and minutes (31.5 mpg) in February. He led all rookies in three-pointers made (21). The 23-year-old guard was playing on a 10-day contract when he equaled an NBA rookie record with nine three-pointers on his way to scoring 32 points in Dallas’ 108-104 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Feb. 3. Four days later, the Mavericks signed him to a multiyear contract. Before joining Dallas, Ferrell played 10 games with the Brooklyn Nets and 18 games with the NBA Development League’s Long Island Nets.
Yogi Ferrell, Dallas Mavericks
Feb. 3 @ Portland: Made 9-of-11 three-point attempts en route to 32 points and added five assists in a 108-104 victory against the Trail Blazers.
Feb. 9 vs. Utah: Contributed nine points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals in a 112-105 overtime win over the Jazz.
Feb. 13 vs. Boston: Scored 20 points and handed out five assists in a 111-98 loss to the Celtics.

Seriously, when is the last time a Maverick has gotten this award?
EDIT: Devin back in november '04 lol

@espn_macmahon: Rick Carlisle on Yogi Ferrell earning West rookie of the month: "So well-deserved. This recognition proves that there is untapped talent out there and that hard, enthusiastic play does not go unnoticed in the NBA."
