Are we sure it's mostly Kidd's fault? I mean last year he said, "I'm watching just like you guys". Sounds to me like coaching is not his responsibility. Maybe the Mavs don't have a coach? That could be the problem....Or maybe someone forgot to tell him he is the coach...Or maybe Kidd is just a dumbass.

The latter.
Something that got lost in all the bullshit last night was Kidd at the podium.
Reporter: Exum returned after injury what did you see from him tonight?
Kidd: he was fine. He was minus like everyone else. No he didn?t get hurt.
Just a grade A asshole who should not be a head coach.

Listening to Cuban on the ben and skin podcast shows he is dilusional as ever. He should have zero control over the roster or coaching decision. If I wrre new owners, I would restrict his role.

That?s one way to respond to the treadmill comments.
Luka 73. And it was clean as hell. 25-33fg 15-16ft.

I?ve never understood the hate tmac gets from Mavs fans. The stuff he reported back in the day about Monte, Rondo, etc. all turned out to be completely accurate. I can understand why Cuban and the players hate him, but tough shit.

OK OK I had to come give props to the immortal one.
But the unsung story right now is the fact that Josh Green is averaging 14ppg in his last 6 and playing well with Luka. That gives us some hope.

This says everything that we need to know about the NBA. It's a league of often unmotivated players who allow the media to feed their desire to play hard when they're called out.

this has crossed my mind too... he's amazing when he's on and is a player that can move the needle even if his skillset isn't a perfect match with luka. But damn he's out a lot.

He is out a lot, but even when hes on the floor and playing well he doesnt move the needle defensively. I like kyrie a lot as a player and what he appears to be as a teammate but as far as build, It isnt right. Id like to think we could get a jump start on a better fit roster if we were considering him as a trade option.

yup - he doesn't match what we need with Luka on defense
We'd need to have a MBT that actually looks into the future and visualizes what is needed and have the foresight and wisdom to actually develop a TEAM with matching parts. that would include investing in the future by playing and developing young guys with potential - more OMP please.

Kyrie is a match on the court. The Mavs need a second ball handler that can create his own shot to take the pressure off of Luka some. We saw that with Jalen Brunson and the team making the WCF. Last night would have been an easier win with Kyrie. The problem is that he?s just not on the court enough, although his foot and thumb injuries were not his fault.

If the coaching staff were smart (they?re not), they?d let Exum and Josh Green handle most of the ball duties and let Luka work out of the post or come off a screen to catch the ball at the elbow
He?s going to be completely exhausted after last night.
Edit: Exum ruled out knee soreness, also DJJ is out.
Boy it?s about to get bad tonight. Need an all timer from THJ

Luka has played hard his entire career. He had a bad game previously and then he bounced back like usual. He?s never had motivation problems.

I disagree
Luka has often sleeped walked doing games.
Yes he'll easily still get those triple doubles but you can tell the difference in Luka body language
Often when he comes out non chalant you'll see him settling for bad 3 Point shots and standing around on defense looking uninterested.
I've often said Luka and Kidd sets the tone for this team early in game

Hes a match on offense just fine. Unfortunately just like with JB, you can sub thrm for defense during play. Its a bad fit for the backcourt pairing because you gotta play 2 ways. If we had 2 other elite dwfenders on the floor, it woukd pass but we will never have all that

Yea. Luka has had PLENTY of lazy unmotivated games. Who cares if he had decent offensive stats if you walk back on defense and get blown by 18 times. Defense is whst we need from 1-3, and rebounding from 4,5.

Typical mavs
Win a game and then turnaround and lose 2 or 3 games in a row.
They just can never play a stretch of games with consistency

THJ is such a joke. I am running out of creative ways to rant about him.
This team needs help. They really need several moves or else

It's funny, two games ago I was ready to burn my Mavs gear and stop following the team.
But the last two games have actually had more positives than negatives.
This game especially is the first loss where you don't want everyone involved fired.
1. Grant Williams had the best game of maybe his career. I'm strangely not worried about him. I'd keep starting him and bring DJJ off the bench.
2. Lively is still super consistent.
3. Green has finally come around. Not a great game here, but you can tell with the eye test that something has changed about him that wasn't there before.
4. Luka assisted when his shot wasn't falling. Finally got the rest of the team involved in a way that he needs to when that happens.
The negative is that Hardy desperately needs a good game and THJ needs to be traded. But Hardy at least had 7 assists to 1 turnover. THJ couldn't pass the ball if his life depended on it.
But my starting lineup going forward would be Luka/Kyrie/Green/Grant/Lively. That is your best and most balanced AND most talented starting lineup.

I'm with all of this.
I need more people to commiserate on how bad THJ is. Thj obviously cant create offense and doesnt do anything aside from make some tough shots. He is your guy if you like yelling "no, dont take that fn shot" then it goes in, but when hes wide open he bricks when the game is on the line. He will lather some icing on top of it with a stupid ass turnover in clutch moments too. Like the Hawks game, he finally hits a 3, gets serious face and starts directing ppl on defense getting back pointing all over. While doing so, he loses his man who back cuts for a freebie. Hes the worst on the team about letting his man slip right past him to get an offensive rebound too. I literally wouldnt care who they replaced him with.

That turnover was typical THJ
He's either going to launch and miss key shot or try to dribble the ball which usually results in a key late game turnover.
That's why his trade value is low

I?m getting the same feeling as last year. Luka was heroic in that OT game vs Knicks. And then the downfall came after that. He?d been too run into the ground to recover for the rest of the season.
I have a feeling that?s what?s going to happen after the historic 73 point game. 46 minutes less than 24 hours after that performance is not good. The next 6 games are bonkers. It feels like the team is barely hanging on. And schedule gives no rest.
I hope I?m overreacting.

This is the game where you decide to finally get rid of THJ and replace him with Hardy. It's time. We need to move on.

Mavs are pathetic. I took a week off of DM.com but it has to be said
Soldiers deserve more than this
Kidd with another of his trademark Slowouts. I called the loss at minute 3

65% and 53% from three. Griffin called a couple of bad defensive calls and was rode out on a rail. Kidd hasn?t had three minutes of functional defense this year and has a secure job.
-8 rebound
+2 TOs
-7 fast break
Not a single competitive stat category
Offense fell from 1st to 9th
Defense is now 23rd
Rebounding is 29th
This team is legitimately a lottery team
