Of course. And in addition, John Keeler would, for obvious reasons, never be running against Wayne Palmer.

I'm going to vote Monday.
I'm personally pretty excited.

I made my vote today at lunch. It took less than five minutes. The guy who checked me in said they had 1833 people yesterday, so I guess I got lucky to hit a slow spot. At noon, go figure.
One thing I thought was odd was that the guy who taught me to use the machine watched me vote. At the end he said, "You're voting exactly like I want you to."

It definitely is. Seriously, chum, you should let someone know. I know there's a phone number you can call.
EDIT: Reading a bit more, it seems while voting in secret is a right you have, you seemed to have voluntarily waived it by continuing to vote. It's not a violation if you don't say anything.

I voted this evening, btw. I had someone come right behind me while I was voting and ask me if I needed help. I promptly gave her the most polite "Get-the-eff-away-from-me-cant-you-see-Im-voting-right-now?" look that I could.
By the way...the voting machine I used in Highland Village was AWFUL. Everyone in the place was asking for help almost. I got it, of course, but not everyone there is like many of us, developers, or administrators, or of the generation of people that grew up with 2 computers in the house. This machine was just awful. Didn't they test this? who designed it? I thought it was pathetic., and so did all the old ladies who were trying to use it.

What did it do? In Dallas (and I know this from people on both sides of the aisle), it was just vote the ticket, hit next four times, hit yes, and hit vote.

They gave everyone an "access number" to start the process, and to enter it you had to use a "click wheel" to select the digits, hitting enter for each one once selected. It was reminiscent of a rotary phone. This seemed to be a problem for many of the people there. They wanted to touch the screen, or look for a keypad on the machine, and there was no such animal. That was the first road block. This wheel was used for everything on the ballot, and it seemed to be giving a lot of people trouble. I was fine with it, it took me all of a minute to vote for all the folks I wanted to, but I definitely was sizing it up from a programmer standpoint the whole time thinking "This is effing stupid."

Why do you suspect the programmer set it up that way?

That's how it was in '06 as well. I would guess that it has more to do with physical form factor, maybe there was some requirement for a single physical input device.. I dunno. Struck me as dumb from a software design standpoint as well.

Because it's funny watching old people struggle with technology...

Sigh....Tarrant County cancelled my voter registration because they received my voter registration card back in the mail that said I no longer lived at my current address. The post office must've delivered it to the wrong address to begin with....I haven't moved in seven years. Luckily, I had registered FIFTEEN years ago in another county that I didn't even live in, so I was able to vote on a limited ballot. Way to go, government.
