Pretty lucky for UT that Tech all of a sudden decided to make a crap load of stupid ass mistakes.

What an awful throw by McCoy... lucky the coverage was completely blown.
edit: hmm on second look it wasn't that bad at all. I originally thought te WR had to slow way down to wait for it.

Huh...Techs about to make me eat my words. I will be highly impressed if Tech flips the momentum back here and pulls this out.

Either way, someone is getting a gutsy win:
Texas, battling injuries and a terrible 1st half
Tech, amazing first half and fighting against a tidal wave that seems to be headed right for them

Tech should just give them the TD right now so that they have more time to drive back down... this is hilarious. The ESPN guys are orgasming in the booth all of a sudden after a sullen first half.

I was just going to say, even if UT scores here, I'm not feeling real confident they can keep Tech from scoring again.

It's going to be hard to kick that extra point through a collapsed goal post on the ground.

That was the epitome of Tech fans right there in a nutshell...but they sat through a lot and they were going to bust out if they won.
That was a f'n CLASSIC.
I'm already predicting the T-Shirt
"We've got Crabs, and we're proud of it."
That's Texas Tech, lol.

I know you're bummed they lost, but you can't rip your team up about today. Yeah, they played an uncharacteristic 1st half, but they showed a ton of guts and heart by not quitting and took it to the limit. Colt got rattled like crazy tonight and he kept slinging...he's a great leader.

This is what they've been doing. It's what they did against OK, but Tech didn't fall completely apart (and showed much will of their own at the end), and the breaks at the very end didn't go UT's way (they were a dropped ball from winning, after all). That's what happens when you are scrapping to stay at the top, though. One week, the wide-eyed freshmen hold onto the ball, the next week, they look like idiots against the best passing game around.
The true test of the UT grit will be whether they start to look like they are struggling in the next couple weeks or whether they come back to dominate

Of course I'm bummed, but it was a good game. We had our chances to win there at the end. Personally, I blame our coaching staff for not telling Colt to use all the play clock before hiking the ball once we were inside the 20 on our last drive. Giving the ball back to Tech with that much time left was foolish.
And Gideon dropping that sure interception....man. That's rough. I feel bad for the kid.

The Big12 south is going to be a mess when Tech loses.. Every team will have at least one loss.. How will they ever sort this out?
Great game.. congrats to Tech.

What all dominos have to fall for Texas to still play in the title game?
I would assume that if Tech wins out they are in. Have to admit, that would be fun to watch!

Well, the most 1 loss teams you can possibly have at the end is 3 (because OSU and OU play each other). If that ends up being the case, the Big 12 South champion will be the team with the highest BCS ranking of the 3.

The national title game? It'll be tough now. Penn State almost surely won't lose, so there's only one spot left. Even if Bama loses, you need Florida to lose again (they are looking awesome right now). And then you have to factor in USC on top of that.
Bottom line, probably not gonna happen for UT. I'll take either the Big 12 Game the Fiesta Bowl, or a BCS at-large bid.

Even though it didn't come into play, I can't understand why Tech didn't go for 2 with a 5 point lead at the end. Then we make it it's a 7 point lead then Texas can only tie. Instead we stupidly only go for 1 and take a 6 point lead. If somehow Texas had ran that kick back then we lose by 1. Yeah that's dealing in iffs, but if we had lost that game under that scenario then everyone's calling for Leech job. Luckily, it didn't come to that.
Anyway I said this in the beginning, I thought Tech would win this game, but I don't think we go undefeated. I think OKST here next week is winnable but no guarentee. And I don't see us beating Oklahoma @ Oklahoma. But only time will tell.

The Big XII and BCS is set for a potential explosion, but they'll cross that bridge when they get there. Who knows where Tech goes from here.
I totally see what LonghornDub is saying about the clock management, I would figure once they get inside the 20 Tech just needs to let them have it and get the ball back.
The "6" route TD for Crabtree was a classic play. The ball seemed to hold up there for a while and he grabbed it because the coverage could never adjust to that route tonight and he tip-toed it in.
I felt this was a pretty strong chance for a win for Tech for multiple reasons:
-It was the end of the gauntlet run for Texas
-Tech has been under the radar this year and was primed for a big game vs a big opponent
and probably the biggest reason
-The game was in Lubbock
The way the tidal wave comeback was coming for Texas, I can't imagine Tech has the juevos to pull that same kind of effort in Austin. This starts the gauntlet run for Tech, so like I said it's very hard to predict where Tech goes from here.
Either way, tonight was an instant classic.

USC won't be ranked ahead of Texas or Oklahoma if they end the regular season with one loss in my opinion.
Tech will likely lose at leas one of their games to OSU and OU. If they lose 1, there's a very good chance that Texas leaps right back ahead of them especially since the UT loss was on the road. Texas will probably be ranked ahead of OU as well simply because they beat OU at a neutral site.
In my opinion, it'll probably come down to Texas, Florida/Alabama, and Penn State mostly because I can't see Tech winning out..and I can't see Tech being ranked ahead of UT once Tech loses. Penn State could realistically go undefeated and not get a shot at the title game. I don't think they've shown much of anything in going undefeated up to this point.

Say what you wish about the clock management, the interception that should have been, and whatever else...but that was a stone-cold balls-on play right there. Tremendous execution by both QB and WR. Seeing as how the 45-yard FG was probably more likely to miss than to make, that was pure clutch money.

The ball would've been up for grabs if the corner was looking at the QB but he was just locked on the Crabtree. The replay from the endzone was great to see the ball coming and him grabbing it and staying inbounds. That's just a perfect route and hard to match against.
Those WRs for Tech are amazing, even more so for their blocking abilities. With all of those screens, those guys are vital to the success with their blocking.
I felt 100 percent confident in Harrell tonight with pretty much all of his passes, he always finds the open man and puts it right where the WR needs it. He is a gunslinger, and he's an accurate one...scary.

people will say "gimmick"
I am really more angry at Earl Thomas more than Blake Gideon. I did not see Earl near any play at all this past game when he was on the field. That last play to Crabtree...he (a safety) was like 5 years in FRONT of Crabtree. Goodness .. if you were just behind him...all you had to do was help Brown hold him up until time expired.
BLEH. Oh well. I think this game showed how much Colt loves Quan. Our wideouts were dropping passes left and right and Cosby never drops them. He is Colt's safety net like David Thomas/Bo Scaife were in the past. Colt was so out of sync all game until Malcom emerged. But I am happy we finally have a Homerun receiver. Shipley and Quan are great possession receiver but I can't see them running Flys and just burning defensive backs.
Our defense didn't play THAT bad. When your offense is goes 3 and out you get tired and it doesn't help that our offense gave up 9 points.
Oh well good game.

First Congrats to Tech.
There OL is freakishly huge and quick!!! We should see some of these guys on Sundays in the near future!!!
Now, I've got to get this off my chest. One specific missed call that may have changed how the first half went. My gripe and why this stuck with me is because it was never mentioned on the broadcast.
This is on Tech's 2nd drive...immidiately after the safety.
On the second play of that drive it's 2nd and 5...Harrell completes a desperation throw to Lewis for a 1st down across mid field. However on that play, Texas was getting pressure and when I watched it live, I was wondering how they could have missed the sack. The Longhorns #2 had a clear shot and I was throwing a tantrum when he completely wiffed on him.
Well when I watched the replay it turns out that #67 of Tech grabs the Longhorns #2 by the facemask and pulls him away from the sack. Without that face mask it's 3rd down and 12...if they call the face mask it's a 15 yard penalty and becomes 2nd and 20.
Yes, Texas should've overcome this missed call...however it was early in the game and this could've been the huge momentum shift that Texas needed.
Yes Tech won and again I congradulate them.
The Facemask was one of the most obvious that I have seen in years and to not have it called set a trend.
Okay, now that I got that off my chest I can move on...
1st half was a rather dull half...2nd half the game became interesting...when Texas was driving for their final score, I turned and told my kid, they need to slow down...for Texas to win, they must score with under 1 minute left in the game...when I saw the time left after the TD, we both said that their was too much time left on the clock...
Congrats to the Red Raiders...make this win worthy...run the table and win the title!!! Without a title it's a meaningless game!!!

It's funny how if it's USC, or Ohio State or Oklahoma they apparently don't have any system to speak of and their quarterbacks are not "gimmicky" and their QB gets the heisman, but if it's Texas Tech it's a system gimmick quarterback that's undeserving somehow.

It takes time to grow a pedigree and you have to consistently prove it, National Championships help with that. They took a major layer of their gimmick critique last night, but they have to keep going with it.

The reason Tech QB's don't win Heismans is because Tech's teams usually have 3-4 losses every year. It has nothing to do with anything you just said. The Heisman winner almost always comes from a 0-2 loss team, at least in recent seasons. Harrell is probably the favorite now, and for exactly that reason.
