Are the Sox falling apart again?

Triple and run by Matsui. Did I mention that I like that guy?

I love it... I watched Boston win and then watched Kent blast a 3-run homerun to put Houston up 3-2 in their series...

What a great day!!!

Lets just assume that Schilling pitches like we all know he can and this Boston/NY series goes 7... How great would it be to break the 25-series streak of teams down 0-3 without being able to come back and do it against the hated Yankees... Oh how I pray for this feat!!!

I hate the Yankees, (don't know if I have mentioned that yet)

How can you possibly want anything BUT the demise of the Yankees??? A team that stops at nothing to win by spending every single cent possible to pay for their trophy... A team that has already won so much with that method... I have nothing but pure hatred for the Yankees, (and No, this is not just a NY thing, as I really enjoy other teams from NY)... I just hate everything that the Yankees stand for, (though I do thoroughly respect and root for Jeter)... I hope for nothing but failure from their franchise, and I know sooner or later they will become old and will have no farm system and I will get my wish, but for now I will have to hope for their failure in the playoffs...

OH HOW I DESPISE THE YANKEES!!! I believe my hatred is actually fueling the Red Sox...

I think Babe is playing with the Sox. Games 4 and 5 were so similar, can't be coincidence. Now he gives them hope, and they will be destroyed in game 7. That will be much more painful than a sweep. The curse will prevail.

What will all of the Yankee fans do when this so called curse is broked tomorrow??? What will stop Boston from stomping you year after year from that point forward... I think that is why you are so scared of losing that...

In 3-5 years NY will be a cellar-dwellar anyway, so get used to losing already!!!

First, where did all the trash talking Yankees' fans go now that it is their team on the ropes? Interesting calling out Red Sox' fans, then disappearing from view.

Second, neither the Red Sox nor the Yankees are really good for baseball --- both spend as much money as they want to in order to get the necessary players. Red Sox got a little cheap in the offseason and lost out on A-Rod, but otherwise they aren't prevented from getting any free agent they want, and the good Sox fans will acknowledge as much.

Third, I don't know which team to cheer for in Game 7, but as battered as the Red Sox bullpen is at this point, I would imagine that the last few innings will certainly be interesting, especially if the Sox have a slight lead.

Fourth, Schilling is sick --- the procedure done on his ankle borders on inhumane, and he pitched 7 innings in that condition.

That's crazy talk. I don't care for either team either, but the Yankees and Red Sox are GREAT for baseball. Just take a look at this thread, people LOVE to root against the Yankees and people LOVE to watch the BoSox wallow in their own misery. The drama and history between the two clubs draws interest towards the games, not to mention RATINGS and good tv ratings are good for ANY sport.

There is no question as to who I will be rooting for tonight.

Here is my Perfect Playoff Scenario:

The Texas Rangers win the World Series.

Okay, screw that - here's my Second Place Perfect Playoff Scenario.

The Sox win tonight in Yankee stadium in a very close game - I prefer a pitcher's duel over a shoot out, but as long as its close, either one will work. I would also prefer that AROD get the last AB and go down flailing, but that would just be a bonus. Then the folks at Fox need to show close-ups of the stunned Yankee fans being hit with the cold reality that the Evil Empire just made the wrong end of history. Meanwhile, back in Bean Town, the Nation starts to salivate and rub their hands together at the thought of finally breaking the dreaded Curse. Hundreds of Bostonian expectant mothers name their new born sons "Papi" as Boston Men spend their time at the beauty salon getting the trendy corn rows. Banners go up, parades are planned and True Red Sox Fans collectively promise their Higher Power never to do dirty things again, if "He" could just win them this one last series. After all, we all know that "He" is pulling for the Red Sox, Curt Schilling told us so.

Fast Forward to Game 7 of the World Series in Fenway Park - Clemons, Oswalt, Lidge and the Killer B's absolutely destroy them in an all-out route. Not a close game - a double digit lead will do just fine. The Astros are estactic as they celebrate their first Championship title ever in a year that saw them win their first Playoff Series ever. Once again, the camera pans the crowd at Fenway (as Fox is so fond of doing) to show little old ladies crying in their beer and men drooping thier shoulders as they contemplate running out into the street and flinging themselves into oncoming traffic.

But that's just me. When my team gets taken out, I just simply root for the misery of others.

Well.....you better enjoy this moment cause this is one nervous Apple this morning.

It was literally the same way last night in the stadium, even after Bernie's shot. The only time there was any optimism amongst us fans was when we trimmed that lead to 4-3....which was short lived as we all know. It was one of those strange feelings on a strange night at the stadium, kinda like the Marlins clinching on our turf, the 22-0 Indian Beatdown, the Astro 6-Pack No-Hitter.......

Got ticks to tonights affair......it should be a memorable one.....hopefully for all the right reasons this time.

But that's just me.
I wasn't clear: I don't think either the Yankees or the Red Sox are a good model for making the sport of professional baseball competitive throughout (similar to the NFL and to a lesser degree the NBA [but that has nothing to do with the salary cap and more to do with individual players]). Sure, there are teams that spend money and don't succeed, but if you look at the Yankees, for all of their supposed flaws each and every year, they seem to go out at the trade deadline or in the offseason and just acquire what is necessary, no matter the cost. What other team this year had a realistic choice between Sheffield and Vlad Guerrero? I know, I know --- competitive balance mumbo jumbo, but that is what I was getting at. I agree with your point that this series is good to get America interested in baseball again (if it needs to be so) --- I much prefer the NFL, the NBA and college football to professional baseball myself.

Great scenario. The hated Yankees lose and the Red Sox curse remains. A fantastic alternative.

Although I would prefer the Red Sox to lose game 7 via some mistake a player makes. The Boston fans STILL whine about Buckner. A new scapegoat would be fun (although not for that player).
