Terry played well too in those first 3 quarters, but that was really about it. I'd say that everyone else was subpar.
The fact that we were only down by six at that points had me in relatively high spirits at that point. Kinda figured that someone would get it going, and lo and behold Peja starts microwavin'.

To Phil: Coach can you describe level of play from Dirk?
Phil: "great"
always good for a short answer

Phil is not an idiot, he knows when to give credit when it's due.

I seem to recall some people suggesting that depth is not a factor in the playoffs. The Lakers were gassed, their defensive rotations slowed down, and we were fresh as a daisy.
Peja is a bad mofo.
I love how the talking heads who picked the Lakers in 5 or 6 are now saying that Dirk is elevating his game... what a f*cking joke they are. Dirk has been doing this for most of his career. And he just keeps getting better.

Kidd may have not been shooting well, but he has quietly been shutting Kobe down on defense for the entire series. For a 38 a year old to lock down the "Black Mamba"... that is crazy.

GREAT FREAKING WIN! I'm so thrilled. I hope we just destroy em in game 4 and end it. Kidd and the Mavs could use some rest.
The only reason why we had so few points in the paint is because LA is so huge with that lineup. When Artest comes to the line I hope to see more penetration.

Looks like Pau's split with his fiancée has sent him into a Richie Tenenbaum like meltdown. All he needs to do is take off both his shoes and one of his socks and sit down at mid-court during the next game..

This X1000.
Dirk has been doing this shot for YEARS (albeit not quite as straight NASTY in the 4th as now), but he's ALWAYS been a clutch ass beast. I hate this newfound generalization that he's "finally" rising to stardom. Son, he's been a Goddamn star. For once, he's actually got a FEW guys stepping up. Not always the same guys, but at least SOMEONE.

Total meltdown on Laker forums, they are actually calling for the Lakers to fire Phil Jackson before he coaches his last game...lol.

When is an "analyst" going to state the obvious? Dirk is severely outplaying Kobe Bryant.

I've been preaching the choir about Dirk being actually a BETTER player than 04-06 for quite some time -- to no avail. And I think even here, people might disagree. And they have some good arguments; Dirk's not as quick as he once was, he's lost quite some lift and doesn't rebound as good as he once did, he doesn't regenerate as fast as when he was in his mid-twenties... With all that being said, Dirk has become a far, FAR greater leader, a fierce clutch player who added more variety to his offensive arsenal and better care-taking on the defensive end of the floor. Put 09-11 Dirk on that finals or #1seeded team, and certain things don't happen. Couldn't agree more with this article: http://hardwoodhype.blogspot.com/2011/05/dirk.html
Maybe we really are in for another prime.

I wrote already in half that the loss of Artest might hurt the Lakers. Not because of his playing abilities (because he sucked in the first two games), but to give LA a fresh pair of legs. Odom and Pau looked really gassed down the wire.

This is really amazing. Im 100% sure nobody in the entire world saw us up 3-0 in this series. If Dirk keeps playing like this and the supporting cast keeps doing their job I honestly dont see any team left that could beat us in a best-of-7 series.
Maybe this is finally our year.

Shutting down Kobe? Kobe is shooting just about 50% for the series, 8-16 tonight, and that includes some desperation misses in Games 2 and 3. Kidd has tried hella hard on Kobe, but for the most part, his elevation has won out. You're just remembering the big stops. Kidd's defensive effort has been fantastic, but Marion is still better on Kobe.

Something is not right with Kobe. I don't even know if it's his ankle, or what. The guy seriously looks like he KNOWS he can't get to the rim. He's not even trying. It's bizarre.

His first three quarters were bad but he made some HUGE threes in the fourth. Great job, nice clutch.

The two times I saw tonight, one time he got a lay-up, the second he went into the teeth of the D and missed badly. I think it's just age and a great mid-range game. Mavs are packing the paint on D.
