Are we going to finish 50% from 3 today? 19/40 right now.

If WCS is going to keep hitting 3’s he needs all Powell’s minutes.

Green seemed to have been advertised as way more offensively limited than that driving lane pull up would suggest.

He was in the 10 man through the 3rd, but that’s without Porzingis.

I read a lot of stuff about how all the UA guys could be better than advertised because of the lousy coaching.

Doesn't surprise me I saw a lot of him out here in AZ.
I said on draft night he reminds me of a lot of former Warrior Jason Richardson.

This just in: Greek Freak will not sign an extension with the Bucks. Some recent matchups thought to influence where he wants to sign.
Edit: This was a bad joke. I didn't expect the 0-2 preseason start to trigger him signing a 5-year supermax extension to stay with the Bucks.

He was considered the third best SG in the nation in high school. With some good coaching, I could see him succeeding

Nice. Would be amazing if the Mavs hit big on a mid first rounder.

I'm hoping for WCS to supplant him but again I just don't think RC is going to do it unless Powell completely stinks up the joint and even then he'd probably go with Kleber if that happens.

I wouldnt be surprised if the Mavs are looking next summer into trades to dump Powells remaining two years (last one just half guaranteed).
Specially if they see KP longterm at the 5 anyway. Powells money has then better use to re-sign Josh, THJ etc

True. His value skyrocketed after that first game. I don't expect it to get any higher than it is right now. Time to trade him.
Seriously, he didn't get much time in today's game. I get that. I just wish he made 1 good play in those nearly 5 minutes of play. Just 1.

Oh no question, and totally worth it if he averages something like 17/5/3 with good defense.
He reminds me a bit of Rip Hamilton.

Yea. He had the best performance last game and can't get in until 4 mins left. Thats pretty inconsistent. But, That's the hurdle he is going to face here.

Hey so let’s talk about the off-season trade
We traded a second stringer who missed tons of games with mysterious leg injuries and who was easily our worst defender
For a starter who can play both sides of the ball and who had looked nothing short of exceptional here.

Listen, WCS isn't some great upgrade over Powell, and I hope nobody is making that case. Although, if WCS keeps making threes, then RC will have no choice.
But Powell is the WORST help defender at his position in the league. And you really can't have that at the 5. His man defense is sometimes passable, but the help is so pathetic that I don't even know why he even bothers anymore.
We can otherwise live with the lack of rebounding because of our size as a team.

Luka had a slow start but he really turned it around and at some point I didnt realize that he suddenly had 23pts. That's what he does.
Willie Cauley Stien! It looks to me like that 3 he has been working on just might translate after all. That lob dunk he had was wild.

Really impressed with the 2nd unit these two games. Depth and defense to go with this offense and this Mavs team is going to be a nightmare for most teams.

Our second unit could make the playoffs in the east and send the bucks home in round 1.
I'm kidding.
Sort of.

In fairness to Curry he's just not big enough to defend.
There are lots of guys in the NBA his size that struggles to defend....Trae Young and his brother are prime examples.
Curry is still a good player and elite shooter. Who I think will fit in well next to Ben Simmons.
I think both teams ended up with players who are better fits for what their team needed.
ESPN ranked both players in their top 100 list so that speaks volumes.

Who missed a ton of games? Seth Curry? He played 64 games in a 75 game season. He also had 25 starts.
Worst defender on the team? No worse than Justin Jackson or Tim Hardaway Jr. In fact our worst defenders were Josh Reaves and J.J. Barea last season. Nearly as bad? Jalen Brunson.

Jax, Josh Reaves and JJB shouldn't even be considered IMO. Such low minute non factor players. Curry is a worse defender than THJ. That also doesn't say a lot though.

Richardson is shooting 8-10 (80%) on threes
Curry is a 3pt specialist and yet has not even made a single one for them

1) he missed 11 games, 8 games, 82games, 12 games
2) you’re ridiculous with those defensive stats? Brunson and THJ were near the top, but absolutely: just make stuff up

Justin Jackson averaged 16.1 mpg in 65 games played. He definitely should qualify.

Then there is one more guy who is worse defensivly than Curry: Boban, Jackson, and Barea if you go by defensive win share. If you go by defensive rating it’s just Jackson and Burke who did worse.
That’s not great.
Brunson (7th best) and THJ (4th best) were both superior defenders to Curry despite your baseless accusation.

No, I didn't make anything up. It appears that you do though. I actually look at stats. Why don't you try doing the same?
