Perhaps Rick shouLe call a play when his team consistently underperforms offensively.

I´m one of the biggest fans of Rick, but Chandler Parsons as a ballhandler is an underused weapon on that team. And there´s no doubt about it.

I've accepted that this team just isn't very good so it doesn't hurt or disappoint me.
Mostly sad I see the game be so poorly coached with guys playing with such terrible energy.

I'm not a good fan for being realistic?
I watch all the games and cheer, hoping they will win. Accepting that we just aren't very good? That somehow makes me a poor fan?

That is ridiculous and awful and you are awful for thinking its a good idea

This is going to be pathetic if the thunder who is missing Durant and ibaka take over the 7 seed at the end. They're only 3 games back now and mavs have them next.

Bright spot...CP looked really good at SG playing next to RR at PG.
Perhaps he is better suited for that position.

In the small sample size of 1 game without Monta it was at least encouraging to see CP handle the challenge of a bigger role. He did say he wanted a bigger role when he came here and I'd argue his role has been less than it was in Houston his previous year. I would also say RR and CP looked better without Monta. However, there was a glaring need at the end of the game for something better than, give the ball to CP and have him create his own shot. I rly don't see him as a guy who can create his own shot in late game situations. He needs a screen or a rub/pick of some kind because he does not have the quickness to get around someone or force someone to play off him for fear of him getting by them. His length mitigates it some(some of those euro's he does with his length are just flat out sweet) but I just don't see him as that player. I'd love to eat crow on that though if he worked on that part of his game and developed something more in the off season. RR lived in the paint though, he was able to get inside and cause lots of havoc tonight and the CP PnR continues to be great and I'm left scratching my head why this is not more of a staple in our offense. Maybe when Ellis is on the court with Rondo CP doesn't have enough space to operate consistently because the lack of shooting ability on the floor.
We lost this game on Defense. Flat out pathetic to allow a team like the pacers to shoot 50% from field and 59% from 3.

Agreed. Would love to see him average 4 assists a game.

It is a small sample size but I think Rondo and CP would work next season if we get the right SF (spot up shooter who can defend).
I'd really love to see Monta come off the bench with Dirk and Devin next season to completely torch opposing 2nd units.
If Aminu could become a decent 3pt shooter and Powell take his game to the next level I think it could work and we'd have a young starting core with a terrific veteran bench (Harris/Monta/Jefferson/Dirk/?). Obviously Dirk and Monta would be closers.
Some big ifs but I think possible.

I'm really worried if Dallas have to play either Warriors or Grizzlies in the 1st round, neither matchup is good for Dallas. Mavericks best bet is to play Portland or Houston in the 1st round. Golden State having Stephen Curry, Harrison Barnes, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala and Andrew Bogut is too much for Dallas to defend around the perimeter and post, and Memphis having Jeff Green, Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Kosta Koufos is too physical and big for Dallas on the boards.

I'm surprised people are worried about seeding anymore. This team is quite obviously a first round exit and it looks like it's going to be a fierce battle to avoid missing the playoffs altogether. If they are capable of holding either the Warriors will sweep them or Memphis will bully them and oust them in five or six games.
I suspect Cuban and the Mavs front office will opt to keep this core together and let Dirk pad his all time numbers next season. Beyond that, I expect the Mavs to go once more into the free agent fray and attempt to snag a big fish when the cap shoots up. If they are unable to lure in a top ten talent then it will be time to draw down and accept a rebuild.
It's a damn shame this team couldn't shape up. I had high hopes for them and really thought that if things fell right they could make a serious run. You have to give credit to the other Western teams though, in particular the Warriors and Grizzlies, they kept improving with their cores even at times when it looked like they had peaked (Grizzlies in 2011/2012).

Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants to them, though.
I'd love that.
I could see us taking the Blazers, Thunder, and Spurs to 7, too. Just not coming out successful without being 100% healthy and everyone upping their game a LOT. You know Rondo and Dirk will. We'll just need to see the same from at least 3-4 other guys to have a chance. Even then, I don't feel like we are terribly well coached overall-- guys just don't know what to do even if they wanted to give their best, but Carlisle could be the best adjustment guy in the business. He knows how to give specific teams fits.
