Like many have said, Green is young, but he is showing a lot of potential. Every player is gonna have an off day. Hey, even Kobe has it once in awhile. Just give the kid some time.

Hopefully, this is the beginning of the end for Stackhouse. Doubtful, but I'm optimistic anyway.

WTF stat of the first week:
Per:
Gerald Green: 20.97
Antoine Wright: 4.36
Jerry Stackhouse: -4.86
Minutes:
Gerald Green: 11.7
Antoine Wright: 16.3
Jerry Stackhouse: 16.0
Seriously, WTF?

Well esp Stack. Wright actually has a purpose with his defensive skills. Playing Stackhouse at this point is just detrimental to the team. It's really sad that Carlisle still can't seem to figure that out. Here is hoping he figures it out tomorrow against Denver by giving Stack a nice big DNP.

Yeah, it's certainly a reminder that every coach has his weaknesses and idiosyncrasies. I still think he might just be trying to be overly cautious with Green, to make sure he doesn't feel like he's arrived and lost his hunger.
But, it's certainly widely said that Carlisle loves his vets. He played Curry in Detroit at the expense of better players.
I still believe that by the time the rotation settles down, Green will be in and Stack will not unless he starts playing better. But I'm certainly not 100% sure, and that's too bad.
And as DHWS pointed out, Wright has a skill that is not taken into account by PER, that being his defense, which has looked quite solid after the first game of the season. I have no problem with Wright playing or even getting more minutes than Green depending on the matchup. But it's time for Stack to not be in the rotation.

I'm on the bandwagon. Should have gotten on sooner, but can't get on D-M.com at work anymore.
Rick needs to get his head out of his ass or Donnie needs trade at least 1 or 2 wing players to free up some space. Stack and Wright aren't worth starting. Green is your best wing backup player, not even close.
Stack and Wright shouldn't see the floor unless a blowout or the few minutes to give Green or Terry a breather when you go 10 deep.

Green was awesome and definitely needs more PT. It's almost like a completely different team when he's on the court.

If anything good can come from being 2-3 it has to be Gerald Green's shooting in 08-09.
Gerald Green: Shooting Statistics
4 games 12.3 minutes
14-23 shooting .609%
3-7 3PT .429%
LINK

Green ought to be able to maintain a high shooting percentage with his athleticism. I mean, dunks are pretty high percentage shots...and there's no reason for him to put up a 3 unless it's wide open, considering he's athletic enough to take most defenders off the dribble (or jump over them).

I think that may be part of rick's hesitancy with gerald. As hubie said "he is NOT bashful". He puts it up at a high percentage.

That may be the reason, but Rick also needs to realize that Dallas's second unit is putrid on offense so they need points in a bad way. And allow Green to be a chucker as the 6th man. That is one their jobs.

RC has veteranitis. Stack will be with us and on the floor until Donnie trades him. RC will not sit a guy like Stack for very long as it will cause discord with the team Stack will start to bitch like a 2nd year bride!

No one on this board knows what carlisle has. He played stackhouse 4 minutes??? That doesn't translate to veternitis.

4 minutes? Huh? Maybe I missed part of this conversation but he played 14 minutes against Denver and 24 against the Clippers.
