If i were Rick i would try this.
PG: Kidd 28 / West 20
SG: Roddy 20 / Jet 28
SF: Marion 28 / Carter 20
PF: Dirk 34 / Odom 14
C: Wood 20 / Mihnimi 15 / Wright 13

I wonder where all the ppl who were throwing the Mavs under the bus during the 9 in 12 are now?

Obviously it will depend on a game by game basis, but this minute distribution is pretty spot on if you ask me. Maybe even fewer minutes for Kidd and more for West.

Kidd was big. Rest does wonders for a 38 year old. So since the 9 in 12 stretch, Kidd had the GSW game off last Saturday and in the 2 games before SA, did not see a minute in the 4th quarter.

From Dugat's twitter, Kidd seems to hold an extra grudge against Tony Parker.

Is the "Dirk can't play D" talk still a thing? I don't feel like I hear it much anymore.

No team...NONE...that I enjoy beating more than the Spurs.
Gutsy win for the good guys.
Ride that Dirk train as far as he can carry ya.

It comes and goes... with good reason. He isn't always a stellar defender that gives stellar effort defensively. I don't really care as much about him defensively until we get into the playoffs. He has proven to be solid in every aspect when it matters most.

Probably since Avery, I would suggest that Dirk is an average defender at worst and a solid defender many nights. *Of course he'll float through a game now and again...

The fact is, Dirk is a good defender, period. I hate when people throw around the "average", or "not a liability." No. Just no. He's a good defender, and a very good post defender. His post defense (PPP) has been ranked ahead of every good PF except for KG the past few years.

He is a very good post defender. The folks that give him trouble are the spark plug types like randolph and players that, the refs allow to just bull into people. But man on man he is very good. He is also usually in the right spot. But his pnr and help defense isn't stellar.

Agreed, and it's worth mentioning that when he was guarding Splitter late, he didn't allow Splitter to get a single shot off. Pretty impressive defense on a very capable post player.

Agree. His PnR and help defense I would rate as average. His post D and man D, very good.

If Dirk blocked/altered more shots around the rim, the "poor defender" schtick would disappear. Dirk plays really good defrender on the interior. He bodies up the bigs very well. He plays excellent position defense. But he rarely blocks shots near the rim. And I really believe that is what most of the poor defense from the talking heads stems from.....
