Can't believe Marion is shooting 47% from 3 so far this season.

I just want a Dirk/Monta highlight reel. 72 points. Wow-ee.
Also, Larkin is a rookie, but for a while he looked fantastic. Fast, aggressive and confident. Just made some poor decisions in the fourth

You expect that from a rookie in crunch time for his second game. I think I'm going to like this kid.

8 points on 3-5 shooting, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in just 16 minutes... He also had 4 TOs, but that's a hell of a line for his second NBA game after missing the preseason with an injury.
Can't wait to see more!

I like that he made quick decisions, even when they got him into trouble. Drive, pass or shoot the ball. Don't sit there and be afraid to do something.
He may have to learn a change of pace, but I looking forward to seeing more.

First glimpses of this team being able to tighten the screws on defense when it matters. A work in progress on that end, to be sure, but nevertheless encouraging.
First game this season thats had a "playoff feel" to me. Monta + Dirk were so focused and efficient down the stretch(Monta's dribbling to his left slightly off balance 3 pointer with the shot clock winding down aside. Thought he needed to get it to Dirk in that spot). Reminiscent of Jet&Dirk 4th quarter two man game in that both are fearless, clutch and compliment one another and as they get more reps and chemistry together this could be a scary good duo down the stretch of close games.

Dalembert has been good so far but after watching him closely to start the season its apparent to me how important it is to have a big that can set the pick, roll and catch and finish in the lane. Or simply catch and finish in the lane for that matter. Dalembert struggles at times to do both. 2011 Tyson would fit so nicely with this group, finishing lobs or drop offs from Ellis and eventually Larkin.
Its why Gortat will still most likely be the best fit this offseason. Better than Asik even. Guys like Noah or Bogut that can thread the needle, finish and both defend the rim and the p'n'r are almost invaluable. Next best thing is getting a guy that is better than average at a few of those things, like Gortat. Would love to see how Rick could get this offense humming with a 2-way Center adding that kind of flexibility. For now getting Brandon Wright back will help the offense immensely while Devin should help perimeter defense. Excited to see this team at full strength!

I'll second this. He was doing it his first night out, too. Very nice to see him flashing those kinds of instincts right from the outset.

I love the way this team does not quit. And as they see that they get good results from the effort, it should just get better from here.
The Rockets are strong where the Mavs are weak, with dynamic, penetrating guards and the toughest cover low post player in the league, making this a high quality win.
And when Devin and Brandan return, we will be even better. They'll let Dirk and Monta play a few less minutes. This team might be pretty good.

"This was a pillow fight defensively all night long. This is two highly skilled teams". Letting the team know that you can celebrate this one, but dudes...there is a long, long way to go to get where you want.

Cool kid...living the dream. heh...
Shane Larkin: On the atmosphere of the game: "That was the best atmosphere I've ever played in during my life. It beats playing at Cameron (Indoor Stadium -- home for the Duke Blue Devils). It wasn't this many people with everyone cheering. This was the best atmosphere I've ever played in".
Just you wait youngun, just you wait. Beat the spurs and you will hear some serious stuff!

So I was browsing the rockettes forum and listening the the NBA commentators. Did anyone see a better angle of the last Harden whine about getting fouled? I sure didn't see anything, nothing around his arms and I didn't see body either.
Only thing that looked like was that he kicked his legs out to try and draw one. Anyone else get a better look at it?

Agree about Daly. I like the guy, but there are times when he cant handle the passes and finish. He damn sure gives his best effort and I still look forward to him on the Mavs this season...
Ive been watching the Hawks lately and I guy that I love that can run on fast breaks, a knack for the ball and can most definitely finish around the rim is Al Horford. I was surprised the other night him and jeff teague running the floor. Horford is very active on the rebounds as well, and I watched as he coached the younger guys during timeouts.

Horford is amazing. Does all the little things. Reasonable contract too. Unfortunately we don't nearly have the pieces it would take to get him. Its a shame we don't have our 1st rd. pick available to trade. Or maybe its a blessing?

One of the lessons from having Jason Kidd as our PG is that there is more to passing than just tossing the ball in a guys general direction. Some bigs, like Dampier, have hands of stone and can't catch anything. Dalembert is much better than that. He can catch and finish. Its part of the passer's job to know where he can and can't catch it, then to put the ball there.
With the good passers we have in Ellis, Larkin and Calderon, I think it is just a matter of time until they get better at hitting Dalembert in his sweet spots...that is unless they get frustrated and give up on him. We have seen several 1st quarters where they looked for him and were sucessful. It is also incumbent on the coach to make that happen.
Dalembert has never been on a team with this much potential, and neither have Ellis or Calderon. You can see how excited they are to be in this position. Carlisle needs to harness that energy. Better D is job one. Hitting Dalembert is maybe job 2 or 3.

Marion wanted to Foul (and did with his hands around the body of Harden) but it was before the shot, so no need to be a b****, Houston!

Can we clone this guy and have him coach the Cowboys? So much more honest than canned answers we get from Garrett...

Not a better game than last night, but last year against the Clippers with Dirk in beard mode, and the one against Chicago, that 3...that was a couple of great games. It was the silver lining in an otherwise crappy season.

I'll never understand how that stone hands criticism of Damp got to be so pervasive, and I find it doubly strange to see it in the context of a post about the importance of guards putting the ball in the right spot. I always thought Damp did fine catching the ball when it was delivered high enough, which wasn't always the case with JET and a young Devin running the point.

Montas not chucking it often enough to earn that reputation this year. He's shooting ~50% on the season. Needs to cut down the turnovers a bit, but given what he's trying to do on the court most are forgivable. Just needs to improve a bit defensively. Wouldn't be surprised if he makes the All-Star team this year.

Just checked their comments over there. This place is really as bad as Lakersground. What a bunch of delusional idiots. Well, of course not all of them, but quite many over there seem to have lost any sense of reality. Of course the refs were guilty, the Rockets got hosed, we were just lucky etc...
Seems that those guys think a fairly reffed game means at least 45+ FT's for Houston and about 20 for the other team. No matter if it's at home or away. 15 for each Harden and Howard + 15 for the rest of the team. If that's not the case, it has to be cheating... Harden is a flopping machine, it's just disgusting. Take away the FT's gained by flopping and he isn't an All-Star anymore. Well, Howard... he played quite well yesterday, but in terms of FT's it the same. For those homers over there it's enough if you stare at him to earn Howard a trip to the charity stripe.

Pretty amazing for a team with harden on it to ever bitch about the refs.
