His defense is more than not too bad, he is one of the best post defenders in the league. As for damp he did bust his ass he just isn't all that talented for a nba player

So it's Dirk's fault Damp can't guard Nene? And athletic bigs aren't usually who kill us anyway, it's scoring guards because our guards can't stop dribble penetration.

Not what I said at all. I'm just saying that as long as Dirk is our starting 4, we're always going to have trouble with big men who score off of drives, no matter who our center is, because we have no helpside D.

Eh, I dk. I mean Damp is a pretty good defender, but there's definitely guy's he can't guard who other centers can.

I don't necessarily disagree. I just think Mavs fans treat him very unfairly. Pretty much everyone else on the team gets away with playing mediocre defense year-around, but if Damp has a bad series then he's the most worthless piece of shit in the NBA.

Damp's biggest problem has always been his contract - it's not that he sucks, it's just that he sucks compared to most of the other $10mil/year players around the league...

His biggest problem is that he is stealing a paycheck. Well, I guess it's not stealing, since they are they giving it to you willingly. But still.

See, it's much more than that from my perspective. Dampier just flat out vanishes randomly. It's one thing to be "out-matched" and another to flat out not show up. He flat out didn't show up vs Denver.

So you're saying Damp has the same problem as Josh Howard & Jason Terry?
"Dirk Nowitzki & the Travelling Houdinis" (I like it better as a band name than a team identity...)

IF Damp flat out sucks 75% of the time and vanishes 50% of the 75% and he plays good ball 25% of the time and plays average ball, which is when we back him up by saying he sets good picks 25% of the time, means he has a suck rating of :
YES!
* Under my fundamentally sound fomulaic umbrella we are safe to consider DAMP suck without qualifying and comparing his contract.

Damp's biggest problem?
Any 5 that can catch the basketball on a consistent basis has one up on Damp.

we definetly need a second center. As much as i like hollins - he has issues staying on the court for more than 10 minutes with 6 fouls and he needs a few years to mature and a few dozen pounds of muscle to be real nba center material. its not really a damp or gortat thing - i think we were missing a real backup center since we moved diop. playing bass at center or moving dirk to c with bass on 4 which we did a lot last year is really not a good solution. gortat is a solid backup center who could start versus maybe 2 or 3 other centers in the league because he has a matchup advantage vs them as compared to damp. gortat also has pretty good hands which if kidd resigngs will be a nice addition because we will get a few easy dunks (we are probably one of the teams in the nba with the least dunks) and layups. kidd basically cant throw the rock to damp unless damp has noone within 5 or 6 feet of him else he'll fumble it away....

Hi, i write from Poland and on start i would like say sorry for my no good english. I study english for 3 years. But how i can write i write
i Interesed matter of Marcin Gortat. In my country is more voices talks about Marcin he want has more games. I don't know whether MG gets more minuts in floor in Mavs... He does not want to be alternate for other Player. He want game. In defens is very good, rebounds blocks he has in good level. In offensiv he must be training. He has reserves. Probably Magic accept Dallas offerts. They don't have money for reseves center - min. 5,8 mln $. I belive in Gortat-time in Mavs started

Your English is not bad.
When you say "he has reserves," what do you mean? Do you mean he can get better?
Also, is "Martin" the American version of "Marcin"?

With the addition of Marcin, I think we should push for an NBA commercial: Pictures of Dirk and Marcin hanging out and dunking on people with the slogan "NBA where German - Polish diplomacy happens."

Yeah, Marcin can get better in offensive if he get a chance plays
I watched many games and the Magic when he was on the floor Marcin Magic players less time it sees. When I got the good administration of them usually end points, and in semi-final PO he has more than 85% of the game.
Yes of course Martin is Marcin. You can read MAR-chean.
I hope that will help me in the discussion about the Mavs and Marcin and I on the occasion of improving myself English

Off topic,
Heh, in my country, most people even the older generation with the word of Germany reacts negatively. Young people are less skeptical. This is the World War 2.
I did not my fault is that Poland is a very traditional country ...
Oh, most of you will still cure headache of 4 July. Best!
Can you spread the links to various online forums where I could talk about the life and customs United States? I am very interested in your country and I have a few questions

On dunking at the free throw line:
Doubtful of his skills, Pietrus bet Gortat an unspecified sum that he could, drawing a full post-practice audience that included several barefoot players and even Coach Stan Van Gundy.
With a full-court run-up, the 6-11 Gortat successfully pulled off the dunk twice after the first one was disputed by Pietrus, who questioned his takeoff point.
Said Gortat, as he walked into the locker room mobbed by teammates: "I'll take my payment in Euros."

I'm hot for Gortat. (copyright? lol)
Seriously though, at worst he'll be a 5/5 guy. That is still worth the money he is getting. Talk about a win-win barring an injury. Amazing what happens when someone like Diop doesn't pan out. You just replace him with a guy who doesn't need to be motivated to play.

Guys, I am Polish/Dutch so please excuse my bad English.
Some of the stuff I am reading here is really nonsense. Have you seen Gortat play, except against the Lakers (which was his worst performance in the playoffs)?
This guy has scored a double-double almost every time he was a starter, when Howard was suspended or injured. He husseled Dalambert in the last game against the 76ers so much, Dalambert almost had to cry.
Remember Gortat has been playing basketball only since he was 17!!!! He is learning all the time and getting better every year. He can run the floor like no other center, has very good defensive moves. He lacks offense, but he is still learning. But wait, against Boston in the playoffs he had like 90% FG!!!!
Give him some time and I guarantee you, he will get a double double almost every game.
