Great explosion of speed by Wall there on the reverse layup. And this McGee has a lightning first step. Jones looks to be better than Roddy here.

Wow. Beaubois, with an open three in the corner, dropped the pass out of bounds. I'm not sure he has a point this game. After that game winner, I was expecting him to make progress. He's been very, very disappointing so far.
Mahinmi was agressive around the ball, again, even though it was ruled offensive interference.
Jones gets a wide open layup off a cut down the lane. Wish he would have slammed that, though. You think that on a cut from the three point line with momentum behind you, he could have slammed it. Good cut though. Poor defense, though, allowing Wall to cut right down the middle for an alley oop dunk (missed it but it was wide open).
Won't be noticed by most, but Lin just boxed out one of Washington's big men, trapping him under the basket so that when he tried to rebound, it went off his fingers.
Oh, that was pretty. Jones drove in and hit a beautiful teardrop. Great arc, and swished right in.
Foster, the shooter, has missed two FT's in 4 chances. That's not good enough.
Lin just faked a pass to the corner after the ball was rotated to him, drove, and hit a tear drop over McGee. And I mean McGee was in his face, there was contact between the two, and it doesn't even matter. Oh, and then on the fast break, Lin leaves it behind him to Foster for a wide open dunk.

Jones, Lin, Samhan, and Mahimni all look better than Roddy. This is his worst game of the SL, and we thought his first game was pretty awful.
At least he isn't forcing as many shots up there. But this being "his team", Roddy supposed to be the scorer, scoring 0 points is not acceptable.

Roddy has been a huge disappointment...Some character flaw that is being exposed is that he easily gets down and out of the game if things don't go his way.
Can Lin be our 3rd string pg, and keep Roddy as sg. I like Dominique enough to make him starting sg, then Roddy and Terry

To me, Roddy actually seems... umm...kinda shy/disinterested/not willingly to take over responsibility.
Maybe he is uncomfortable sharing PG minutes with DoJo?

No way Roddy can have an impact on games when the refs are giving him fouls like this. But we have all witnessed how hot Roddy can get. Play Jones at the 1 and let Roddy play the 2! Roddy has to show case Roddy's talent! I have money on it...

Wow, Lin's defense is damn good. Wall's burned everyone else on him, but Lin was able to keep him right in front. I like his game a lot.

Jones and Lin have been great. Jones is just attacking the basket on every chance he can get. I'm loving Lin's PG skills.

If the Wizards don't drain the clock, and don't score the Mavs still have a chance...
Lin for the win? Jones for the win? Oh my goodness I cannot wait for the regular season to start...I am LOVING THIS

It is just the summer league, but dang, Lin has a lot to like. He really does have a nice game and I hope the Mavs see this as well. He's gone toe-to-toe with the number 1 pick in the 2010 draft and he's more than held his own offensively and defensively.

Lin stole it, and dunked. Didn't I say his athleticism was underrated?
On a Wall drive, Lin got his hand on the ball and forced a jump ball. He's a really a solid defender. And he got almost as high as Wall did on the jump ball. And there he is again! Lin drives, with the up and under to get the layup off. It was a very pretty layup. Very pretty.
Lin got to the rim again, and despite the miss, the drive opened up the weak side for Samhan to put it back.
Jones didn't blow by his defender this time but pushed him close enough to the basket then rose up over him for the and-1. Then, Jones with two offensive rebounds off his own initial miss, getting a foul. And he was rebounding over the big men of Washington, not over a couple guards.
Mahinmi again tries the baseline drive, and though it looked like he was fouled, he didn't get the call. However, he just got a nice putback. It seems like he's been around the ball all night, and he has 6 orebs so far.
Lin's jumper looks a bit like Nash's. Has a bit of natural fade to it. And, as we just saw with that trey, it has a ton of arc to it. That trey went way up there, looked like a teardrop, and still swished in. And again! WOW! Split the defense like it was nothing, and then spun by the big man. Unfortunately he spun right into another defender who had got position, so it was a charge, but that was a ridiculous, big time move. This game might have got Lin a roster spot, no joke.
Jones just missed an easy layin, putting it too hard off the glass, but Samhan with the put back. Dojo just put it too hard off the glass. But Samhan has been feasting on the weak side rebound putback.
Lin missed a driving layup but then rips the ball out of the hands of McGee. Wow. And he just won the tip with Wall. Went to Washington, but he tapped the ball, not Wall.
Giddens was free under the baseline, but he had one foot out of bounds. Bad time, with 30 seconds left in 4 point game, for a crucial mental mistake. Or maybe it was just unlucky, because Giddens was able to get wide open.

Nice summary! Yeah, this is the first SL game I've seen so far, and I am impressed with both Jones and Lin. Jones has the strength that Roddy and JET lack, while Lin has a half foot on JJB.

I think this Mavericks Summer League team is dying to win a couple games. Do you see the how motivated the team and bench gets when they are in the grasp of a W? Lin and Jones swagger....for sure Jones will be on the team, but Lin could be serviceable too

Yeah, I'm going to put these all together and post them on Mavs Moneyball, categorizing by player. You'll see what I mean...I'll post a link when I'm done here in a few minutes. It should be easier to read them all then.

It's summer league. Scrubs like Nikoloz Tskitzivilli average 20 PPG in SL.

I'm not sure if you're bagging on Lin and Jones with that post, but they've been solid in their games (not even taking scoring into account).

I realize its summer league but the attributes are there. Both Lin and Jones want to go to the rack all the time. And they want to play defense. The attitude is what I like. If Lin drives to the basket 10 times and goes 0-10, I still like him.
Being aggressive going to the rim is infectious to a team whether they are made or not. And we need that infection.
