jjb has had a tough series but is a far better option than Jet at point
1. jet is best around screens spotting up
2. JJB is PROBABLY (how funny is that?) a better defender.
3. jet can't handle the ball.
4. jj is the only guard who can get to the rim
this is a terrible idea

But it's been proven (in this thread) that jet can handle the point, can't you read!

JJB is definitely a better option at the one... when he's distributing the ball. Unfortunately, he's not doing it. I always tought he's an underrated passer, and an overrated shooter. He actually has very good court vision, especially for such a tiny player. He could, and should find his teammates more when he's penetrating. The penetration-kickout play is one of the most efficient play in basketball, and he's capable of doing much better than he's doing it right now. The fact that his jumpshot is gone again, is no surprise for me, he's a very streaky shooter unfortunately.

You guys are fucking hilarious. So let me get this straight.
1. Jet can't pass or play the point anywhere near as well as JJB.
That's weird, since Jet has 15 assists and 8 turnovers while JJB has 11 assists and 7 turnovers. Hmm....
2. JJB has been "fine".
Really? So 5/2 on 28%/0%/75% shooting, with God awful defense, and somehow twice managing to be the only player on his team with a negative plus/minus is "fine". Boy, some of you must have some absolute zero low expectations.
3. Somehow Jet is incapable of bringing the ball up the court.
Yeah, he's only played PG for years and did a solid enough job of it. If he somehow can't bring the ball up the court, how has he done for more years than JJB has been in the league? Not to mention, Jet has only ONE more turnover than JJB this series despite playing over ten minutes a game more.
4. We even got a JJB is a better defender than Jet thrown in there.
Really? A lot of you are straight delusional if you think a Jet/DeShawn-Brewer combo isn't more effective than JJB/Jet-Kidd against Portland. It's just mind boggling.

Terry's defense has been more than adequate for most of the series. Even as a Terry homer, I'm utterly shocked that I'm able to say that at this point.

Did you ever figure out the details of your bet? I'd say that Terry has been pretty comparable to his regular season self so far.
Playoffs: 16.4 / 1.6 / 3 / 1.2 on 47% shooting
Regular Season: 15.8 / 1.9 / 4 / 1.1 on 45% shooting

KG was supposed to come up with the parameters but I don't think he ever did. If it's extreme enough in either direction, we won't have any issue, but if the playoff numbers are just slightly below the reg-season numbers come the end of our playoff run, I'd imagine there will be some debate about who won.
Either way, so far I'm happy with his performance. The numbers are a bit skewed by the one ridiculous shooting game, but overall I think he's been very much a net positive this series. And this is a tough matchup for him, I think.

Some plays from Barea in Game 5:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAVfqi_TigQ
Barea gets a screen from Dirk and Fernandez gets caught up while Camby doesn't switch. Now Barea takes the wide open J and misses. He may have gotten a step or two deeper into the paint to maker the J easier or could have passed to Peja.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP1LCSZljOw
Barea gets a high screen from Haywood and drives to the basket beating Johnson on the switch. Just the layup won't go in but basically a good play.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JBnoNfDGzE
Again high P&R with Haywood. This time Barea beats Wallace and lays it in. Note that both Roy and Aldridge are hesitant to help because they cover Dirk and Peja on the perimeter.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSLxctkurZ8
Watching the game I thought: Why are they giving Barea an open lane?!? Aldridge clearly wants him to go right and Barea takes it but then stops for some reason. I think he shouold have been more aggressive here. He could have easily beaten Aldridge. Wallace was there to help but that would have freed Chandler underneath.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHQnjYoPS3c
Again a screen by Dirk and Barea beats Aldridge to the basket. He misses the layup, but again: That's a good play and he normally makes those.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrgnc7frxRY
Dunno. This could be a play for Terry, but if not then Barea had an empty paint with only Miller to beat. Roy could have helped, but as we've seen above he is reluctant to do that when covering Peja. And if he does, Barea can kick it out and Peja has a wide open shot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdaIiS3Eckk
Screen Chandler, basket Barea. This one shows on more time that Aldridge won't help while covering Dirk.
So Barea blew two layups, but he is getting where he wants in my eyes. Just can't finish. He normally should get much more offensively because most of the defender will stay home with Peja or Dirk on the floor. But overall he'll be fine.

Everytime Barea gets on the court, I get angry. He is pure garbage of a player and only gets PT because Carlisle is dumb.

But its okay. Whenever people post kneejerk threads, the players always step up to make the poster look silly even when there is a thread of truth in what they say.

Redo? Redo?
What the hell are you thinking, man? JJB came into this game tonight and just about singlehandedly led the Mavs into the game-winning position they ended up in. It was damn near clinical, what he did.
Look, I know it is embarrassing to look like an idiot in front of a whole bunch of people. But if you will humbly admit that you were wrong, and just mistaken because of youthful and foolish indiscretions, people will forgive you.
Well, they won't actually forgive you, that is true. But they will forget about you, as meaningless. That is a way that you can at least save some face.

While he took it to extremes (as he is want to do), Cad wasn't wrong about JJB in this series. He was pretty awful for most of the series, and I was pretty uncomfortable every single time Rick used him as a SG.

I don't have an issue with folks griping about jjb as shooting guard...but gripping about him as backup point is beyond idiiotic and if you think that jjb shouldn't play backup pg...you have some serious, serious mental issues.

Terry was our best point guard tonight. Eight assists. But I did like what JJB brought, especially in the late 1st Q/early 2nd.

The three he hit tonight was huge. It had to be a boost for him too considering that was his first one of the series.

Hahaahaha, yeah, that's a bit over the top. Anyway, back to Jose, that's exactly what i was talking about my earlier post. Very good game by JJB, he really played like a true point guard, great passes, and also made that huge 3 in the fourth quarter. Props to him. I remember he had some big games against the Lakers, hopefully his shot will come back and he can do some damage.

How has JJB's numbers against LA looked this year?
I like his speed on offense against LA, but that is off set by the fact I do not think he can defend anyone on that team due to his size.

And Fisher. Thankfully point guard is the Lakers weakest position. Barea's defense won't be that big of an issue imo in this series. Dirk is the one with the tough assignments though. He better be ready. Don't get in foul trouble.
