Seems like a good trade. I will never say great after the Rondo fiasco ( I was admittedly on board with that trade, but his talent is undeniable. Risk seems low as long as we get a top 18 pick.

Noel has real talent. This is a great trade for Dallas, although they do have to pay to re-sign the guy.
Philly waited too long with their big man glut and blew it.

@espn_macmahon: Mavs essentially turned a 23-year-old 21st overall pick and 2 2nd-rounders into a 22-year-old 6th overall pick.

I'm counting 6 - 7 games out of the 18th slot. At this point 1-2 spots up the standings , jumping Sacramento is a foregone conclusion. If no other major trades, for Indy, Denver, this should parlay into 2 2nds. Awesome deal, team gets young piece in place alongside Barnes.

Sixers don't need him around. Cavs, Celtics, should be on the top of his list.

@JoeGiglioSports: Only three players in NBA history averaged 10.0 PT/8.0 REB/1.5 BLK/1.5 STL in their first two seasons.
Hakeem, David Robinson and Noel.

I actually think it's teams overvaluing picks. Very few picks have been traded. If you can only get two second rounders for Noel, then you know what the market for a 1st is.
Be curious to see what Boston does with a little more than an hour remining.

It sounds like Boston is seriously talking to Indiana about Paul George. Indiana may be exploring clearing roster spots for a deal.
Jimmy Butler is currently unlikely.
Everything subject to change.
"just asked a GM, will BOS land anyone before the deadline? The GM predicted they would, and added they may land 2 players. Interesting...

The problem for the selling teams is that a lot of sources claim that the 2017 draft is ridiculous and has 2003 potential.
Thats why every team is sitting on their potential 2017 lottery picks...

What an unsexy, savvy, low-risk move. It's downright Spurs-esque. Hard not to love it.

The new rules make first round picks much more valuable. Any team who gets lucky can be potentially set up for a decade or so.

With no second trade looming for Andrew Bogut, league sources say Bogut and the Sixers will immediately begin contract buyout discussions.

Here are some encouraging numbers for Mavs fans: Noel is averaging 1.7 blocks and 2.7 steals per 36 minutes this season (an almost unheard-of number for a big man); players have only a 50.8 percent success rate in scoring over him around the rim, which is a 12-point decrease from their season average; and his field goal percentage has improved dramatically in each of his three seasons in the league. Noel has the athletic and statistical profile of a player who could bust out if given a bigger role, and the Mavs will get a two-month test run before they have to make a huge financial commitment to him in the offseason.

Rick Carlisle: "If I was to handicap the possibility of moving Dirk [Nowitzki] to 4 and Harrison [Barnes] to 3, I'd put it below 50 percent. I wouldn't totally rule it out. We have to see." Carlisle declined to comment specifically about Nerlens Noel until the deal becomes official, but the question was essentially about whether a starting spot would be open for the Mavs' new addition.

Ugh. That would be a "fantastic" start to the Noel relationship. Let's bring him off the bench that will make him happy yeah.

Was just about to post this... So are we looking at Dirk finally "coming off the bench" as a backup 4/5? If so, here's what our starting lineup looks like (assuming D-Will is on his way out):
Yogi (23)
Curry (26)
Wes (30)
Barnes (24)
Noel (22)
That's an average age of 25 years old...

Even if Dirk has said he's fine coming off the bench for me it's one of those, I'll believe it when I see it things as it pertains to RC actually doing it.
Edit- Dammit UD! Beat me to the Dwill punch.

Wouldnt be surprised if Dirk is moved to the bench and enters early in the 1st and 3rd together with Barea.

Caught me before my edit... I'm assuming Deron is on his way out since he was held out of practice again today.
EDIT: of course you edit right when I edit... LOL

@espn_macmahon: Dirk Nowitzki on Nerlens Noel: "He's an athletic big, he's young and he's got a lot of potential. He's a rim protector. He's long and he can finish around the rim. That's what I guess they were looking for. … A guy that can roll and really sucks the defense in helps all of us, not only myself. That's what our offense is, the big guy needs to roll and be a presence at the rim on both ends. If he's healthy, he can do that."

He may not "start," but I bet he gets more minutes than anyone else at the 5.

But how do you bring the Face of the Franchise off the bench?
I wouldn't be shocked to see Dirk as our "starting center," but with Noel still playing around 30 MPG.

In the past we've seen news break as much as an hour or so after the deadline.
